Since Didier Dagueneau's untimely death, son Louis-Benjamin has taken over the estate and the wines are as well-regarded as ever. This wine is produced from a single site, midway up the southwest slope of St. Andelain. 2012 was a challenging vintage but the estate took advantage of the naturally low yields and produced wines with great freshness and concentration.

93 points Vinous: "Returning in 2018 after 2017 was wiped out by frosts, this is an intense, wild 2018 Buisson Renard, like an untamed head of curls. In clear evidence at this early stage, it has floral and boxwood characters and a nutty oak-derived influence. There's even an intriguing note of peppermint on the sinewy, lengthy finish. In a mid-weight, linear style with a firm, phenolic finish that almost requires knife and fork. This needs more time in bottle to shed its austere frame, but if you're not in a hurry... 93 points Wine Spectator: "Distinctive, from the creamy, gently toasted macadamia nut edge to the panoply of makrut lime, white peach, yellow apple and fleur de sel notes. The refined finish lets flashes of tarragon and honeysuckle chime in. Long and lilting. Drink now through 2024. (JM)" (11/2018) Jancis Robinson: "Tangy and layered with a slightly reductive struck-match note, yet loads of intense, forthright fruit too. Pure charisma. (RH)" (07/2017) K&L Notes: When an iconic winemaker dies, especially long before his time, oenophiles mourn. And the...

Of the 2007 Domaine Didier Dagueneau "Silex" Pouilly-Fumé, Wine Spectator writes: "Weighty, but lithe and balanced, with gorgeous, alluring notes of honeysuckle, macadamia nut, white asparagus, lemon curd, quinine and straw all carrying through seamlessly on the long, invigorating finish. This beautiful wine transcends the vintage. *Top 100 Wines of 2010, Collectibles* (JM)" (07/2010)

Bid on this 4-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2004 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume (95RP, 94W&S, 94WS, 90ST), 1-bottle of 2006 Domaine Cordier Pere et Fils Pouilly Fuisse "Vieilles Vignes", 1-bottle of 2007 Domaine Serge Dagueneau et Filles Pouilly-Fume Les Pentes, and 1-bottle of 2011 Domaine Andre Moingeon & Fils Puligny-Montrachet. Of the 2004 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume, Wine Advocate writes: "The Baumard 2004 Quarts de Chaume reflects painstaking, multiple pickings of perfectly botrytized fruit, with plenty of gold-green grapes to insure juiciness, vivacity and flux. An intense and complex aromatic mingling of candied grapefruit and pineapple, quince jelly, pear drops, white raisin, musk and truffle leads to a palate of intense richness yet buoyant elegance and transparency to mineral, floral and spice nuances. (DS)" (08/2007)

91 points Vinous: "This young Clos de la Coulée de Serrant is soft, round and mouthfilling. The fruit quality of the 2020 is concentrated and succulent without weight, but there's a light farmyardy character to the wine. Offering excellent grip and a fiery schist-derived finish. The alcohol (14.5%) is lightly warming but compared with some previous vintages, it's a little better judged. (RG)" (06/2022) K&L Notes: One of the most well-known proponents of natural winemaking. Joel B. Payne for Vinous writes: "If any producer has reached mythical status on...

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Vatan Chavignol Clos de la Neore. David Schildknecht writes: "The entirely of Edmond Vatan Sancerre nowadays sojourns each vintage in two of the seven old steel tanks familiar to anyone who visited this grower over the past 20 or so years, and the young wine no doubt requires less looking-after by Anne Vatan-Foucault – who must drive three hours to get there from Chace – than do her parents. A single associate tends the 2.5 acre section of Clos la Neore not far from the family home; and no doubt Anne’s husband – Nadie Foucault of Clos Rougeard fame. . . contributes some insights and efforts as well to the cause of perpetuating this venerable Sancerre."
