92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is enough wood to notice but not to intrude on the exceptionally spicy and overtly floral-suffused nose of dark currant and plum. There is outstanding intensity, muscle and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract on the sappy, mouth coating, robust and youthfully austere finish that goes on and on. This is excellent and worth checking out. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*" (01/2021) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru was harve...

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with an exquisite bouquet of sweet red berries, cherries, orange rind, smoked duck and exotic spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and enveloping wine framed by velvety tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long and youthfully chalky finish. From a parcel planted in the 1930s, I often think that Aux Brûlées is Méo's finest wine; and while I'd give the Cros Parantoux the edge this year, it is a superb e...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the very fresh and pure nose is spicier still with notes of anise, hoisin, sandalwood and floral nuances that add a touch of elegance to the mostly red berry scents. The vibrant and tension-filled medium-bodied flavors are firmer and perhaps less seductive than usual but also longer and more structured than usual. I would add that it's rare when this wine is at more or less the same level as the Murgers or the Boudots but at this admittedly early stage, it appears that it is. We will of course see in time but...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is almost understated on the nose, touches of wet limestone and flint permeating the fresh black fruit and a subtle brine note loitering in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fresh acidity. The 70% whole bunch lends a dash of black pepper toward a finish that is full of tension. Good length and plenty of finesse. This will evolve into a very fine 2019. (NM)" (12/2020) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discreet application of wood frames notes of soy, hoisin, st...

2019 Domaine de L'Arlot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more deeply pitched and spicier nose blends notes of black cherry, hoisin, violet and an interesting hint of clove. There is again excellent volume and richness to the enveloping and opulent medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a decidedly powerful and noticeably more structured finale. This is a big Suchots that has everything it needs to age effortlessly. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (01/2021) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of rose hip...

96 points Decanter: "Showing a little more concentration and depth than the Lamarche Echézeaux in 2018 (though that is an impressive wine in its own right), this comes from a single parcel of 0.3ha. With a hint of good reduction on the nose, it's a savoury, spicy number with some tannic grip to complement the scented berry fruit that's so typical of this domaine's wines. Drinking Window 2024 - 2032. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Lamarche’s 0.30 hectares of vine. It has a little more horsepower than...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another great success this year is the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts, a brilliant cuvée in the making that bursts with aromas of cassis, cherries, smoked duck, dried flowers and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and textural, with a multidimensional core of lavishly ripe but succulent fruit that entirely conceals the wine's structuring tannins. Readers who are unable to secure a few bottles of Hudelot-Noellat's Richebourg this year should consider consoling themselves with this ...

2017 Domaine d'Eugénie Echézeaux Grand Cru (Previously $360) (Previously $360)
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "Back at a decent crop size after the frost of 2016, this comes from a 0.5ha holding that's influenced by the cool breezes from the Combe d'Orveaux. With 60% whole bunches and 80% new oak, this is structured, serious and built to last. It's a big, spicy, profound wine with flavours of damson, black tea and liquorice. It needs a lot of time. Drinking Window 2025 - 2035. (TA)" (10/2018) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From vines located in the lieu-dit En Orveaux, the 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru reveals aromas of ripe cherri...

96 points Decanter: "The Mugneret-Gibourg holdings in Echézeaux are in two, roughly equal-sized parcels, both with old vines; one in Rouges du Bas on the slope and the other in Quartier de Nuits. The blend of the two sites has resulted in an exquisite wine, with aromas of scented damson plums and spice. There is a lovely richness and depth on the palate, with tannins so fine-grained that the texture is truly seamless. (CC)" (10/2020) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Echezeaux Grand Cru was showing beautifully when I visited, waftin...

95 points Decanter: "Méo owns two plots of Chaumes, totalling just over 2ha at the foot of the slope below Malconsorts. One was planted in the 1950s, the other in the 1970s, and the result is a powerful wine with pronounced aromas of ripe dark cherries, liquorice and a hint of smoke. The winemaking is not shy - punched down frequently and aged in 50% new oak casks - and this is decidedly tannic, and full-bodied, yet its approachable, highly drinkable nature makes it an absolute delight. Drinking Window 2024 - 2049. (CC)" (10/2020) 92-94 points Robert P...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A wonderfully spicy nose combines notes of sandalwood, hoisin and crushed fennel with those of violet, plum liqueur and an admirably subtle hint of wood. The rich, caressing and enveloping flavors are also quite generously proportioned while coating the palate with sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a lingering finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. This highly seductive effort needs to develop more depth, but the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur with 12 to 15 years of bott...

95 points Decanter: "This has the most gorgeous savoury red fruits edged with rosemary, thyme, crushed earth and tobacco. A totally delicious wine that is both mouth-watering and restrained. A touch of reduction at first keeps the aromatics closed, but they open up quickly to show floral-edged pleasure. From a single 1.4ha plot opposite Richebourg (the Aux Brûlées vineyard is 5ha in total), with a clay-limestone rich soil that holds moisture and so stays cool over hot summers like 2018. 60% whole cluster. Drinking Window 2021 - 2036. (JA)" (02/2020) 93...

97 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, intense and tannic, this young, backward, tightly wound wine matches richness and concentration with subtlety and finesse. Loads of berry and cherry-scented flavors have a touch of spice and anise, and the flavors fan out on the finish. Lay this away. " (10/1992) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This particular bottle was, not surprisingly, quite floral but there is also a bit of a green streak on the nose and while almost all RC's have it to some degree, this is more prominent than usual and in my experience, rela...

95 points Decanter: "Domaine d'Eugénie's Echézeaux hails from a north-facing site that's close to the chilly Combe d'Orveaux, but it tastes like a wine from a warmer vineyard, thanks to low yields and green harvesting. Big, rich, bold, tannic and extracted, it's not the most feminine or graceful of Pinots, but what it lacks in finesse, it makes up for it concentration and ageing potential. Drinking Window 2026 - 2036. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru includes 60% whole cluster. It has a very detailed, mineral-driven bo...

99 points Decanter: "Méo owns two parcels of Richebourg that border Cros Parantoux, mostly in Les Véroilles. The wine produced in 2019 was spectacular – among the highlights of the vintage. There is no lack of sweet red fruit, but it is very complex, with rich, earthy notes, a savoury, gamey side and a strong mineral underpinning. This is among the most transparent reflections of the terroir of Richebourg. On the palate there is a beautiful tension between fresh acidity, firm tannins and a deeply satisfying concentration of extract. Drinking Window 2029 ...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Interestingly, this is actually quite similar to the nose of the Grands Ech but it's arguably even spicier and quite cool in the context of the 2018 vintage along with a top note of menthol. The pliant medium-bodied flavors possess a decidedly sleek mouthfeel though the tension really builds from the mid-palate to the firm, dusty and very serious finish that offers outstanding length. Patience strongly advised as this is definitely resolutely structured. In a word, excellent." (01/2021) 95 points Decanter: "Nicole ...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Properly structured and with solid tannins, this is a concentrated wine. Its firm texture is balanced by ripe black fruits, dark and intense. From a vineyard surrounded by some of Burgundy's greatest, this superb wine needs many years. (RV) " (02/2018)
Price: $299.99

95-97 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit and more sous-bois aromas than the En Orveaux; touches of sage and pressed flowers emerge with time, adding more and more complexity. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit and gentle grip in the mouth. Quite structured for a Les Suchots, with a stunning, lightly spiced, energetic finish that has more vivacity than it knows what to do with. Fabulous. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Malconsorts" (92VN). Vinous: "Good medium red. Evolving, wild aromas and flavors of raspberry, plum, leather, game, mocha and underbrush. Explosively rich, creamy and sweet, offering superb volume without any rough edges. For all its ripeness, this wine also shows a cool, mentholated aspect and a faintly balsamic quality on the back end, where the serious broad tannins will support some further aging. But this is wonderfully satisfying right now. (ST)" (02/2016)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has a sophisticated, mineral-driven bouquet with great clarity, less fruite and more restrained than the Beaux Monts but with greater focus. The palate is medium-bodied with a real candied, bonbon element, a core a sweetness that lends this real personality and wonderful poise on the finish. Lovely. (NM)" (12/2013) 92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " *Outstanding, Don't Miss!* Reduction. This is completely different from the Beaux Monts, particularly in te...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which is completely de-stemmed, has a very intense, almost heady bouquet with layers of black cherry and cassis fruit; a dash of black pepper emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, and very powerful for this vineyard, but it manages to maintain balance. The finish offers great length and satisfying freshness to counterbalance the fruit intensity. This might well be the pick of Prieur’s reds this year. Bid on this bottle of 2008 Lucien le Moine Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Malconsorts" ((91-94BH), (91-94ST), (90-92RP)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is very fresh, pure, spicy and ripe with a mix of red and black earth-infused aromas that introduce textured, sweet and layered full-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity and perfect balance on the strikingly long finish that seems to go on and on. As is its wont, this is a very serious effort built to age. *Outstanding*" (04/2010)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Domaine Louis Jadot Romanée St-Vivant Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Aromatically still quite closed and revealing only glimpses of earth and spice notes with racy and pure middle weight flavors that offer exceptionally good detail on the sappy finish underpinned by firm tannins and acidity. This is a really pretty effort that isn't particularly dense but it is well balanced and long." (04/2005)

Bid on this bottle of 2003 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru (96RP, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Grands-Echezeaux, which bursts with aromas of jammy blackberries as well as black cherries, is medium to full-bodied and fleshy. Sappy black fruits and distinctive notes of black chocolate are found in its expressive, bold personality. Refined, pure, and muscular, this wine exhibits huge amounts of firm, yet ripe, tannin. " (08/2005)

Bid on this bottle of 1989 DRC Domaine de la Romanee-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (94BH, 94JG, 94WS). Wine Spectator: "The immediate impression is one of a fresh, sumptuous nose of cherry and currants. Tight, firm and closed, this has an edge today, along with a velvety texture. Patience is required here. More textural than the 1980. (BS)" (06/2006)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru ((91-93BH), 93JG). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly and attractively spiced nose of rose petal, red currant, plum and sandalwood aromas leads to big-bodied flavors that possess excellent richness and plenty of mouth coating dry extract. Interestingly though, despite all of the mid-palate material the finale is quite linear with a firm, cool and impressively long finish." (01/2013)
Starting Bid: $340.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2002 Robert Arnoux Vosne-Romanée "Les Suchots" (94RP, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium to full-bodied and chewy-textured, the 2002 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots boasts intense aromas of spiced black fruits that are intermingled with hints of herbs. Produced from a parcel located in the finest sector of this well-known vineyard, high on the hill, nestled between Echezeaux and Vosne-Romanee Beaux Monts, this wine bursts forth on the palate displaying interminable waves of sappy red fruits. Focused, seamless, and revealing exceptional structure as well as length, this is a grand cru hiding in a premier cru’s clothing. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2017. (PR)" (06/2004)
Starting Bid: $1,350.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" (92BH, 90ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Menthol and soft wood nuances frame the restrained but spicy aromas of black fruit and high-toned floral scents. There is good richness to the relatively full-bodied generous flavors that possess a silky texture, all wrapped in a lightly structured and impressively persistent finish. There is a bit of wood on the finish that offers only moderate complexity at present though my score assumes that more will develop over the next 3 to 5 years. As was the case when I originally reviewed this ultra-elegant effort, there is noticeable gas on the finish so if you're going to try a bottle young I would advise decanting it first." (05/2015)
Starting Bid: $428.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is even more explosive than it was a year ago with seductive, very dark and expressive smoky black Vosne fruit that is laced through and through with anise, tea and seemingly endless variations of Oriental spice. The moderately structured flavors deliver a stunningly beautiful mix of spice, intensity and perfectly integrated structure. In short, this is a superb and very classy effort with terrific persistence. " (05/2012)
Starting Bid: $1,800.00

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from vines planted in 1922). A restrained but still wonderfully spicy nose consists of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, lavender and black cherry liqueur. The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. There is no doubting the quality of the underlying material and the length here is genuinely superb but it would be fair to observe that this is a very robust RSV. Patience will be required. 2030+" (01/2018) K...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine d'Eugénie Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Brûlées" (91BH, 91ST, 91VN). Vinous: "Good medium red. Sexy, focused aromas of cherry, licorice, spicy oak and soil. Sweeter and lusher in the middle than the village offering, with almost claret-like blackcurrant flavor and a light touch. A round, seamless, elegant style with a smooth back end. Sweeter than the village wine but still classically dry. (ST)" (03/2011)
Starting Bid: $135.00

Bid on this bottle of 1978 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (98RP, 98VN, 97JG, 97WS). Vinous: "The 1978 La Tâche Grand Cru is a wine that it took me almost 20 years to taste and then two came along within the space of a few months. This example was almost identical to the bottle previously tasted in Hong Kong in 2016. Again, it delivers a bewitching bouquet with traits of undergrowth and fern that intertwine with the precisely defined red fruit. It takes a little time for the subtle ferrous note to emerge. The palate is medium-bodied, multi-dimensional and conveys presence rather than mass or density, which I suspect it did in its youth. Symmetrical with disarming focus, you are taken aback by the way it fans out and persists in the mouth. It is a ballet dancer performing a perfect Swan Lake. Stunning. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune. (NM)" (05/2019)
Starting Bid: $4,180.00

Bid on this bottle of 1985 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (96RP, 94JG, 93WS, 92BH, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Poured from magnum, the 1985 La Tache is surprisingly paler in colour than I might have expected. The nose is very refined with touches of maraschino, limestone, strawberry preserve...the quintessential pure Pinote really. The palate is medium-bodied and perfectly balanced. This is an understated Grand Cru with filigree tannins and a refined finish with nuanced lapsang souchong embroidered on the finish. It is not La Tache that boldly goes out to prove itself. It is not the great ever produced. But it is an absolute masterclass in understatement. (NM)" (05/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2004 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echèzeaux Grand Cru (91BH, 91WS). Wine Spectator: "This is fragrant, evoking aromas of flowers and strawberries. Starts elegant and silky, with the structure soon becoming apparent. There's fine length, harmony and balance to this forward and approachable version.--Non-blind 2004 DRC tasting (February 2007). (Web-2012)"
Starting Bid: $1,300.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru (94BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is still enough wood to notice on the otherwise wonderfully elegant and ultra-spicy nose of fresh and ripe hoisin, anise, black cherry and cassis suffused nose that is just beginning to display background notes of secondary development. The medium weight flavors are intense, pure and still moderately structured with evident breed before terminating in a beautifully long and balanced finish. This beautifully stylish effort is right on the edge of its peak drinkability and easily could be enjoyed now though personally I would opt for cellaring it for another 1 to 3 years where it should be capable of holding for another decade or so. Excellent. *Outstanding*" (07/2017)
