Domaine Séailles' Armagnacs from the 1970s are absolutely lights out. The balance between fine French oak and shockingly bright fruit—especially for such old brandies—is hauntingly beautiful. The Ariston's vineyards are vastly different than those of the other Blanc de Blancs producers that we carry. The steeper slopes, less chalk, and more fossils in the soil of Brouillet make for a rich, creamy style Chardonnay Champagne that will appeal to just about anyone. It's comical to think Laphroaig is charging $350 for their official bottling single casks that are 7 years old! We obvioulsy passed on that because we are still finding exceptional gems like this. Here we have a 10 year old for just $90! All that big bombastic peat and iodine in a classic ex-Bourbon cask giving the balaced vanilla and creamy malt center stage.
