1999 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana (93WS, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "Extremely ripe, almost raisiny, with loads of raspberry and cherry character, yet there's a sophistication, a subtlety, to the wine. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a silky, well-defined finish. A pure and pretty wine." (10/2001)

1997 Gaja "Sperss" Langhe
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1997 Gaja "Sperss" Langhe (99RP, 97AG, (95-97ST), 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A virtually perfect effort is the 1997 Sperss (30,000 bottles), which represents the essence of truffles, earth, and black cherries in its striking aromatics and multidimensional, opulent, full-bodied palate. The acidity seems low because of the huge glycerin levels and prodigious concentration of fruit, but I suspect it is normal in the scheme of oenological measurement. This profound wine requires 3-4 years of cellaring, and should age well for 30-35 years." (06/2001)

2001 Antinori "Solaia" Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Antinori "Solaia" Toscana (94RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep, dark sensations of smoke, tar and scorched earth emerge from the powerful 2001 Solaia. This fresh, vibrant offering is packed with dense ripe fruit. This is an especially rich, heavy style of Solaia that lacks the subtlety and grace of the finest vintages. Still, in 2001 Solaia is a more complete wine than Tignanello. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. (AG)" (01/2009)

2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (96AG, 96RP, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2004 Barolo Monprivato is an explosive wine with an almost Pinot-like expression of purity in its fruit. This round, sweet Barolo is extremely primary at this stage, with tons of dense fruit that almost cover the wine’s tannins completely. Subtle overtones of roses and tar develop in the glass, rounding out this majestic wine. Monprivato is one of the world’s very finest values in collectible, age-worthy wine, and the 2004 is another classic in the making. I was blown away by this wine’s sheer balance and harmony, both of which are remarkable considering the wine’s age. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034." (10/2008)

1998 Gaja "Sperss" Nebbiolo Langhe
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Gaja "Sperss" Nebbiolo Langhe (95RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the things I have learned over the years is that you can count on Angelo Gaja to make a strong showing in just about any tasting. Yes, I know, Sperss is not Barolo (a small percentage of Barbera is added), but at its core the wine captures the essence of Serralunga and is as representative of these hillside vineyards as any Barolo. Dark tar, smoke, leather, spices, menthol and black cherries all make an appearance in this muscular, full-throttle wine. While the vast majority of 1998 Barolos can be enjoyed today, the 1998 Sperss could use another few years in the cellar. It isn't a crime to open a bottle today, but this is one of the few 1998s that still has upside potential. Simply put, the 1998 Sperss is a jewel. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2023. (AG)" (03/2009)

2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (97ST, 97WE, 94JS, 94WS, 93RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Captivatingly intense yet refined aromas of ripe red cherry, mint, smoke and black truffle, complicated by lovely mineral and floral elements. Ripe, rich and velvety on entry, then concentrated in the middle, with flavors of red cherry, cassis, spices, bay leaf, dark chocolate and espresso. Amazingly well balanced and fresh wine, with sound, bright acids supplying wonderful lift and precision and smooth, noble tannins adding considerable power and grace. The finish goes on for minutes, highlighted by an enchanting floral-mineral quality; in my experience, the appearance of this strong floral component (in the absence of herbal or peppery aromas and flavors more typical of lesser vintages) at this early stage of development is typical of the greatest versions of Sassicaia. One of the top dozen Sassicaia bottlings ever." (01/2011

2006 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 94WE, 93WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " In the first flight of five, #3 had by far the darkest color. Deep, rich, sweet, fruit-filled, and oaky nose is very sexy and dramatic. Lots of black cherry, pepper, minerals, leather, and chocolate. Equally dramatic in the mouth; clearly a youthful Brunello in the modern camp. We are particularly impressed with this wine’s mouth feel, which envelops the palate. Big and brawny with tannin to shed and very good acidity. Long, powerful, consistent finish. Already impressive, yet a great candidate for the cellar! Not to everyone’s taste, still, half the room fell in love with #3. (Executive Wine Seminar)" (03/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Gaja Barbaresco (OWC - 95WE, 94RP, 93AG, 93JS, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Wine Enthusiast: "**Cellar Selection** Gaja’s classic Barbaresco is gorgeous in 2010, showing an intense perfume of violet, earth and ripe red fruits punctuated by balsamic notes. The palate delivers rich wild cherry notes layered with mint, cinnamon and eucalyptus. This is structured and elegant and will develop more complexity over time. Drink this after 2018." (09/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Arnaldo Caprai Sagrantino di Montefalco "25 Anni" (95RP, 93WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Montefalco Sagrantino 25 Anni, the selection but 50,000 bottles worth, is warmer, ampler, and decisively more powerful on the nose, richer and fuller in flavor than the regular bottling, but with a velvet in the texture that makes it already approachable. There are, nonetheless, easily 15 years of exceptional drinking ahead. (DT)" (04/2006)

1978 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barbaresco Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barbaresco Riserva. Antonio Galloni: "A bottle of the 1978 Borgogno Barolo (library release) was a late substitute for a corked bottle from Brovia. To be honest, I am not especially fond of these re-releases from Borgogno as they typically deliver very little vintage quality, but this was a perfectly decent bottle that was among the finest examples I have had. 2001 Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino (96RP, 96ST, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What a joy it is to taste Molinari’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino. A dark, translucent ruby, it opens with a profound, deeply expressive nose followed by notes of licorice, tar, black cherries and smoke that take on new dimensions of complexity as this great wine sits in the glass. Deceptively medium in body, it shows plenty of vibrant fruit, structure and fine, noble tannins which insure it will still be a magical wine in 15 years and likely beyond. This Brunello has been nothing short of stunning on the two occasions I’ve tasted it so far and it is undoubtedly one of the vintage’s unqualified successes. It is highly recommended. Recent bottles of the 1999 and 1990 have also been immensely enjoyable. (AG)" (12/2006)

Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. This is balanced and refined. It's layered and beautiful. This is still tight and not giving much. A few more years will yield a lot. 2001 Tua Rita "Giusto di Notri"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Tua Rita "Giusto di Notri" (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For the first time I preferred the Cabernet/Merlot blend to the all- Merlot wine, and there can be few doubts that the 2001 Giusto di Notri is a stunning wine. A blackish ruby/purple with a fabulous nose of textbook Cabernet aromas, black currants and blackberries, graphite, river gravel, and sweet herbs, its potent, dense, and packed palate displays flavors of perfect poise, grace and power intertwined and intermingled, shape and grip at the highest level from the initial explosive notes to the resonant, sweet finish. Of the 1985 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco,Praise from Antonio Galloni writes: "Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the few estates in the world that continues to produce fine, age worthy wines at consumer-friendly prices. Although the Produttori's Barbarescos - the Riservas in particular - age extremely well, until recently the wines haven't been considered collectible. Because of their reasonable prices, most of the wines have long been drunk up by the estate's loyal supporters, making older vintages nearly impossible to source, even in the secondary market. This tasting provided an extraordinary opportunity to get a progress report on 21of the estate's single-vineyard Barbarescos. The wines spanned 5 importan

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Massolino "Parafada" Barolo (93RP, 92W&S, 91WE, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Barolo Parafada is gorgeous in this vintage. The Parafada is the only Barolo here that sees French oak, and although the estate has lowered the percentage of new oak, the smaller barrels give this wine an explosive quality that is all its own. In 2005 the Parafada is all about textural richness rather than delineation, but it reveals an enveloping, sensual personality with attractive warmth that carries through all the way to the long, smooth finish. This beautifully balanced, sublime Barolo is another wonderful effort from the Massolino brothers. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025. " (04/2009)
