2010 Pian dell'Orino "Amiata" Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Antonio Galloni: "Pian dell'Orino's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Versante Amiata is a wine of stunning beauty. Freshly cut flowers, red stone fruits, plums, mint, smoke, spices and rose petals jump from the glass in a captivating, perfumed Brunello that conquers all the senses. At times powerful, while at other moments more delicate, the 2010 is endowed with fabulous complexity and intrigue. With time in the glass, the 2010 turns silky, perfumed and exceptionally polished, yet there is plenty of underlying tannin and acidity in support. (9/2013)94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2011 Giorgio Primo is just as beautiful today as it was last year, even if it has barely budged since then. Blackberry jam, spices, licorice, smoke and new leather meld together in a seamless voluptuous wine endowed with superb depth and pure textural richness. The oak still needs time to integrate, but there is a lot to look forward to here." Wine of the vintage. From biodynamically grown grapes." (2/2014)92 points Wine Enthusiast: "It opens with intense red-rose aromas that carry right over to the palate. Full body, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Amazing quality. Goes on for minutes. Made from biodynamically grown grapes." 2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is awesome. This finessed, regal Brunello flows onto the palate with seamless layers of perfumed fruit framed by silky, finessed tannins. The wine remains extremely primary at this stage, and its full range of aromas and flavors have yet to emerge, but the sheer pedigree of this Brunello is unmistakable. The elegant, refined finish lasts an eternity, and subtle notes of menthol, spices, licorice and leather add final notes of complexity. 2011 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2011 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Antonio Galloni: "Kirsch, rose petal, pomegranate, exotic spices and mint are woven together in a fabric of notable class in the 2011 Tignanello. An exotic wine that captures the essence of the year, the 2011 is endowed with magnificent complexity, nuance and class. The silky, polished finish makes the 2011 incredibly appealing today, but the wines from this site have always aged very well. The 2011 is going to need time to shed some of its baby fat, but it will always remain extroverted and racy to the core. I can't wait to see how the 2011 ages. 2008 Tassi "Franci" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Previously $120)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Franci lays on good foundations despite the overall austerity of the 2008 vintage. True to the Riserva moniker, there’s an extra dose of intensity here, a riper style, bright acidity at the back and an added layer of firmness or astringency to the tannins. Even the alcohol feels slightly warmer in the 2008 Riserva compaired to the two 2009 Brunellos although it is not (14% compared to 14.5% for the two 2009 wines). In summary, this wine does exactly with Brnello Riserva should do: It brings you a little bit more of ...Read More »

Such a gorgeous, exciting wine. Long and caressing. Turns savory and succulent. Fantastic. Greatest wine ever from here. Drink or hold." (1/2015)93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Nardi family's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto Manachiara opens to rich saturation and concentration followed by a full bouquet of generous spice and dark fruit. Better in 2018." (4/2014)92 points Antonio Galloni: "Dark plum, spice, menthol and cloves flesh out in the 2010 Barolo Vigneto Brunate. This is a supple, relatively approachable style for Brunate, even if the firm young Barolo tannins kick in on the laced finish. This is a distinctly soft, fruit-driven Barolo with notable freshness, purity and nuance. Dark red stone fruits, iron, smoke, tobacco and new leather flesh out on the inviting, textured finish. The Cerretta is the most open and accessible of the three 2010 Baudana Barolos today.." The wine is extremely elegant, especially in the delicate way it puts forth its ethereal aromas of cola, licorice and grilled herb layer after layer. The palate delivers structure and good freshness. Drink: 2018-2028. Caroline Pobitzer and Jan Erbach run a tight ship at Pian dell’Orino. 2003 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

This awesome, deep Brunello is endowed with gorgeous dark fruit that emerges from the glass with superb richness and power while retaining a traditional sense of structure. Layered. Needs time. Best after 2012." (6/2008)94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clerico's 2004 Barolo Pajana is an explosive wine loaded with layers of deeply spiced dark fruit. It is a notably pure, focused version of this wine that is totally compelling for its overall balance. The south-facing Pajana vineyard tends to give a more fruit-driven style of Barolo but the 2004 is a beautifully complete wine. Anticipated maturity ...Read More »

An almost iodine undertone. Better in 2016." (1/2015)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Talenti's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino sees fruit sourced from the Sant'Angelo in Colle subzone of the appellation. This is a very satisfactory expression with pretty mineral tones of ash and crushed stone that form sharp contours against ripe fruit, prune and blackberry. The wine is linear and extremely well defined. The high quality of fruit ...Read More »

2003 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Allegrini’s 2003 Amarone Classico (80% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta) reveals a super-opulent, engaging texture packed with sweet cocoa, dark fruit, cassis, blackberries, roasted coffee beans and licorice. It finishes with notable length and surprising finish for the vintage. According to Allegrini the rain that fell in July was critical in maintaining some balance in the wine. This medium to full-bodied wine is an outstanding example of a more restrained, clean style of Amarone." (10/2013)94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2005 Vin Santo is fabulous. 2010 Le Ragnaie "Fornace" Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Fornace is a beautiful expression with an impressive level of confidence and individuality. The wine's color is a bit darker compared to its peers and its concentration is similarly thicker. But that extra padding does not take away from the inner elegance and finesse displayed here. Aromas embrace red rose petal, licorice, grilled herb and forest floor. The oak rendering is evident but not obvious: Dark smoke, crushed granite and ash give the wine a savory side. 2006 Galardi "Terra Di Lavoro" Roccamonfina

The weather was uneven, and a drastic selection was necessary in the cellar. Overall production was even lower in 2006 than in 2005, but the estate’s commitment to quality paid off in a big way. 2006 Vietti "Lazzarito" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Vietti "Lazzarito" Barolo (97RP, 93ST, 93WS, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Lazzarito has begun to show the pedigree of this great Serralunga site now that Vietti has backed off the French oak, and the 2006 is nothing short of superb. A melange of dark, mineral-infused fruit flows from the glass as the large-scaled Lazzarito gradually shows off its class. Licorice, tar, smoke and earthiness add layers of complexity and nuance. The Lazzarito is still the Barolo that spends the longest number of months in French oak following the malolactic fermentation, but that period is down to several months from a full year the wine spent in small barrels up until 2001 or so. One day the Lazzarito may challenge the Rocche as Vietti’s signature Barolo, and that day may be closer than most people realize.
