2013 Belle Glos "Las Alturas" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (1.5L)

Full-blown and expressive through a persistent, mouthcoating finish. Drink now through 2024." (10/2014) K&L Notes: Winery notes: "Located in one of the highest-plantable sites in the southern portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County known as the "Mission District." 2012 Textbook "Mise en Place" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The inky/purple-colored 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Mise en Place comes from the rocky east side of Oakville, and spent 24 months in French oak. Playing it closer to the vest than its siblings, with coaxing, it reveals some extraordinarily ripe, rich blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with hints of charcoal, scorched earth and wet rocks. It has tremendous upside potential, but at present it is the least flattering of the Textbook Cabernets. Full-bodied and powerful, it should turn out to be a beauty, but buyers should plan on deferring their gratifica ...Read More »

Goldeneye is the Napa Valley winery's far-north outpost, in cool Anderson Valley where their 15-year experience in making cool-climate Pinot Noir was put to the test in 2011. Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, savory herbs and wild flowers race across the palate in a bright, aromatically lifted Cabernet Sauvignon endowed with gorgeous precision and nuance. Distinctly ferrous and savory notes add nuance to the radiant, generous 2012 fruit. Dollops of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec round out the blend. The wine is deep, multidimensional, full-bodied, rich and opulent with a voluptuous texture. Even as a barrel sample, this stunning effort is irresistible. 2003 Kenwood "Artist Series" Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Connoisseurs Guide: "Even accepting that Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that delivers its fair share of tannin, this wine goes a little bit overboard in its late parts, and the ripe, rich aromas and reasonably fruity flavors that come before are more than a little bit occluded at the back. Still, there is fruit at its heart, and, for those willing to wait, the wine may well reward their patience." (12/2007) Wine Enthusiast: "The ’03 is elegant and sleek, with blackberry and cassis flavors that finish thoroughly dry. But even at 4-plus years, the tannins are very harsh. 1984 Inglenook "Reserve Cask" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

90 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and exotic, with lots of coffee, cedar and spice overtones to the gentle core of very ripe cherry and raspberry. A stylish wine with plenty of tannin to support it, but the dominant characteristics are fruit and suppleness." (7/1990) K&L Notes: This was made during the reign of Connecticut spirits company Heublein, which is not remembered by Inglenook faithfuls as the winery's better days. But as the 1990 Spectator review indicates, there were still some bright moments at the venerable estate.

This Merlot-dominated blend reminds us why Duckhorn earned its reputation as one of California's preminent sources for Merlot. The 2012 vintage, with its long hang time, was perfect for making a rich, seamless, structured wine. Winemaker notes: "From its aromas of Santa Rosa plum, creme de cassis, violet and Herbes de Provence to its enticing flavors of olallieberry, sticky toffee and vanilla bean, this is a complex and compelling expression of Napa Valley Merlot."

From the folks at Stony Hill: "Our 2009 vintage is a perfect example of the winemaker's art. Mike Chelini has been crafting Chardonnay at Stony Hill for thirty-nine years, always bringing out the essential characteristics of our hillside grown grapes. The aromas of green apples and citrus that greet you are unmistakable. The 1998 Viader is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Cabernet Franc. Viader believes that in 1998 the Cabernet Franc did very well, showing excellent aromatics and bright black cherry fruit. 2004 Meyers "Bonny's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2004 Meyers "Bonny's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L). You may remember Bonny's Vineyard from a Silver Oak bottling that spanned some years. Now, Justin and Bonny Meyer's son Matt with his wife Karen make wine in Mendocino County. More about the vineyard from the winery: "The Bonny’s Vineyard Cabernet was one of the country's first and deservedly best examples of a single vineyard designate wine. Over thirty years ago these precious four acres stood out among thousands that Justin Meyer cultivated in the heart of the Napa Valley's Oakville Appellation. The old creek which runs nearby deposited gravely soils which cause the vines to struggle and produce the most beautifully intense fruit imaginable. This is not a wine we make, but rather one we watch develop itself during its five year ageing process. Whereas we are actively developing the style of the Syrah, when it comes to the Bonny’s we stay true to the techniques Justin Meyer used many years ago

Made by Helen Turley when she was the consultant at Blankiet from tightly spaced, steep hillside vineyards planted by her husband, John Wetlaufer, it exhibits a beautiful nose of flowers, high quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, creme de cassis, chocolate, espresso and blueberries. Extraordinarily young, fresh and fabulously concentrated ...Read More »
