2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "the 2013 White Wine Resiste is a sensational white from California that's made from 45% Roussanne, 26% Chardonnay, 14% Petite Manseng, 10% Viognier and 5% Marsanne that spent 19 months in 46% new French oak and the balance in concrete eggs and used barrels. Possessing rock-star levels of richness and texture on the palate, with full-bodied depth and power that never seems heavy or cumbersome, it has classic SQN white notes of buttered golden fruits, honeysuckle, honeycomb, toast and white flowers. Unctuous, full-flavored and still lively and fresh, it needs 2-3 years of cellaring and will keep for two decades. (JD)" (08/2015)

Of the 2011 Williams Selyem "Rochioli Riverblock" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir,Wine & Spirits writes: "This riverside parcel was first planted in 1989 to Joe Rochioli’s own heritage pinot noir selection, supplemented in 2000 with two Dijon clones. Winemaker Bob Cabral’s 2011 is aromatically striking, ranging from floral lavender notes to a stem-inflected cumin scent. There’s a clarity at the center of the wine, the site’s concentration changing focus from fruit depth to long-lasting savory and floral elements: It starts with fruit-driven intensity (dark cherry and red currant), ending on an ethereal, aromatic lift—a long tail. Kaleidoscopic. With a few more years of age, this would be a perfect match fo

Of the 2004 Turley "Grist" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel,93-95 points Robert Parker writes: "One of the finest Zinfandels I have tasted from Dry Creek is Turley’s 2004 Zinfandel Grist Vineyard. From rocky volcanic mountaintop soils, it is always a whopper in terms of alcohol (15.8% in 2004). The deep ruby/purple-colored, Chateauneuf du Pape-like 2004 boasts a sensational perfume of raspberry jam, scorched earth, pepper, and garrigue. Antonio Galloni: "The tasting ends on a high note, as the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is deeply expressive, despite its obvious youth. Here it is the wine's sense of energy that stands out most. Vivid, nuanced and structured, the 1999 is a wine to cellar for another 5-10 years at a minimum to allow the flavors to flesh out. 1987 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1987 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Chateau Montelena has made so many sensational Cabernets that it seems almost impossible to believe that their 1987 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate could be even more profound than any of the exceptional wines made previously at this property. The black/purple color, the extraordinary bouquet of rich cassis, violets, and licorice, the massive extraction of flavors, sensational depth, super ripeness, and a length that must last over a minute, suggest to me that this is easily the most concentrated and potentially longest-lived Cabernet Sauvignon that Chateau Montelena has ever made. The extract level is incredible, yet the balance is there. Anticipated maturity: 1997-2025." (10/1993)

The wine is medium to full-bodied, with low acidity, and plump, sweet, pure, black currant fruit intermixed with mineral and licorice notes. It exhibits a deep plum/purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of graphite, burning embers, charcoal, sweet kirsch, black currants and hints of licorice and cedar. 2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Kistler "Kistler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. "It is easy to get excited about Kistler's Pinot Noirs," remarked Robert Parker in 1998. "All are aged in 100% new oak, made in small lots (250-500 cases), and bottled with neither fining nor filtration. They are trying to keep the levels of SO2 to minimal dosages so the wines can be as expressive as possible. These Pinot Noirs can easily hold their own in blind tastings with the finest red Burgundies." More than a decade later, Parker's praise continues: "Kistler Vineyards, undeniably one of the world's finest winemaking estates, is run with passionate dedication to detail and quality by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. Bid on this bottle of 2003 Diamond Creek "Red Rock Terrace" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94W&S, 92CG). Wine & Spirits: "Red Rock Terrace, on a north-facing slope of 38°, is cooler than Volcanic Hill, and slightly warmer than Gravelly Meadow. It's the most immediately appealing of the three Diamond Creek wines in 2003. If I were to add points for terroir character, this would score even higher, as my notes from the blind tasting indicate a ferrous, iron-oxide edge to the tannin (the aspect of the soil that accounts for its distinctive color). The grip of those tannins creates a dry succulence, balancing wild blueberry fruit with lovely intensity. Powerfully mineral, the finish lasts with a tremendous elegance." (12/2006)

Layered, rich, and full-bodied, the wine has an opaque purple color as well as wonderful purity and balance. Bid on this magnum of 2006 Viader Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (92ST, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red-ruby. Currant and violet on the nose. Supple, sweet and nicely aromatic in the mouth, offering more breadth than the "V". The violet note carries through to the back of this ripe and attractive wine, which finishes with firm, building tannins. Winemaker Alan Viader has been doing more extraction since 2005, including a longer pre-fermentation cold soak and more post-fermentation maceration. He told me that total time on the skins in 2006 was between 55 and 69 days, whereas not long ago it was more like 30 to 35 at Viader. (ST)" (05/2009)

Redcurrant, red plum, woodsmoke, tobacco leaf, herbs and menthol on the rather Graves-y nose. Juicy, spicy and tight, with a strong tobacco leaf quality joined by a slightly inky quality on the end. Boasts good intensity but the tannins come off as a bit green and tough. (ST)" (05/2014)

Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 2012 Pott "Her Majesty's Secret Service - Stagecoach Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94VN, 92WS, 91RP). Vinous: "Searing tannins and layers of pure blue/blackish fruit make a very positive first impression in the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Her Majesty's Secret Service. Naturally the tannins need time to soften, but in a vintage in which wines can lack structure, a little bit of spine is a very good thing. Graphite, smoke, licorice and tobacco add nuance as the flavors build to a dizzying crescendo of intensity. (AG)" (12/2014)

Of the 2007 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon,Wine Enthusiast writes: "A huge Cabernet, in the best sense of the word. It wasn’t the easiest vintage, as 2007 was, but meticulous winemaking did the job, resulting in this amazingly rich, impressively ripe wine that’s drinkable now and will develop for many years. The fruits veer toward blackberries, cherries and cola, and the tannins are soft and refined. One hundred percent new French oak isn’t at all heavy, lending nuances of buttered toast and sweet wood tannins. Will easily age for 15 years." (02/2012)

1974 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1974 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I had this wine twice over a period of thirty days, rating it an astounding 99 and 98 points. A monumental California Cabernet Sauvignon, it appears to have approached its plateau of maturity but should easily last for 20-25 more years. There is no rust, amber, or brown to the saturated dark purple color. The spectacular, huge, Mouton-Rothschild-like nose of mint, cassis, lead pencil, and toast is remarkably youthful. Staggeringly concentrated, this full-bodied, super-rich wine possesses moderate tannin, fresh, lively acidity, and a blockbuster, rich, fleshy finish. This is a monumental effort! (RP)" (08/1994)

2012 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bryant’s flagship wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill offers a rare but magnificent forest floor/floral aromatic profile with lavishly rich, ripe notes of crème de cassis, blueberry and black raspberry liqueur. Fleshy, opulent, full-bodied and multidimensional, it conceals some significant tannins behind its wealth of extract and fruit. From a first-growth quality, hillside vineyard (13 acres), this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeously pure as well as impeccably well-balanced with a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood. In fact, the new oak component, which is significant, is largely obliterated by the wine’s stunning fruit. This majestic Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2014)

2006 Sine Qua Non "In The Crosshairs " Sta. Rita Hills Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Sine Qua Non "In The Crosshairs " Sta. Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2006 In the Cross Hairs 11 Confessions Vineyard: This is Sine Qua Non’s extended barrel-aged Grenache (meaning that in most vintages since 2003, Krankl has produced two cuvees of Grenache, one aged 18-22 months before bottling, and the other one with extended barrel-aging, in this case 32 months in wood). A blend of 84% Grenache, 12% Syrah and 4% Viognier, all from the 11 Confessions Vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills, this is one of the most extraordinarily elegant Grenaches Krankl has produced. It is an intellectual wine, yet it doesn’t wimp out by any means. It is full-bodied and voluptuously textured, with notes of spice box, licorice and Provencal herbs, copious quantities of black currant and kirsch liqueur, stunning richness and a finish lasting close to a minute. This amazing effort confirms Krankl’s meticulous and nearly obsessively detailed

1984 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1984 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, this is an age-worthy gem for any serious collector's cellar. Launched in 1984 with the dual release of the 1979 and 1980 vintages, this joint venture between Robert Mondavi and the Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Bordeaux's Mouton Rothschild, has been the standard-bearer in American ultra-premium wine for more than 20 years. The wine comes from three meticulously managed vineyards in Napa Valley where the grapes are hand-sorted and moved gently, by gravity, from the destemmer to stainless steel fermenting tanks. And since there is only one Opus One, each fermentation tank is dedicated to a single lot, allowing the wine to develop at its own pace, drawing color and extracting beautiful flavor.

2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 98VN, 97WS, 96RP, 96ST) in original wood. Vinous: "Once again, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the 2007, but the aromas and flavors seems to be just a touch brighter, which might just be a function of the wine's age. A wine of remarkable precision, the 2009 is totally dialed in from start to finish. Layers of intensely sweet, perfumed fruit are woven together with remarkable elegance and sheer polish. Today, the 2009 isn't quite as radiant as it has been in the past, and seems headed for a stubborn phase. It is still striking, though. Even if a bit less exotic than the 2007, the two wines share a silkiness and overall sense of textural finesse. A translucent, weightless finish rounds things out in style. The 2009 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. (AG)" (12/2012)

2005 Seven Stones Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2005 Seven Stones Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 94WS). Robert Parker: "This vineyard, high above the Meadowood Resort, has produced a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was aged in 100% new French oak for 22 months. The label says 14.9% natural alcohol. Having once visited the proprietors, the Wornicks, it is well worth the effort to get an invitation to their property, given the extraordinary sculpture that one confronts on the high steep hillside road leading to the residence. This wine blew me away in the tasting, and again, it is another of the absolutely compelling, great, great wines of this vintage."

2012 Rhys "Swan Terrace" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Rhys "Swan Terrace" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95RP, 94ST, 93AG, 93BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a steep slope located between 1,210 and 1,300 feet above sea level, the 2012 Pinot Noir Swan Terrace shows lots of whole-cluster influence in its ground pepper, black cherry, wood smoke and forest floor/autumn leaf-driven personality. Hitting the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, bright acidity and plenty of concentration and tannic grip, this is a serious, structured and Burgundian Pinot Noir from this team that has the depth and class to evolve nicely for another decade or more. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (95WE, 90WS). The flavors immediately kick in with a solid wall of red cherries, licorice, persimmons, pomegranates and cola. An exciting, complex wine to drink now, and it should gather momentum over six years, maybe even longer." (03/2013)

2003 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Syrah (95RP, 93ST, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Broken Stones, a 350-case blend of 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, and 8% Mourvedre, offers a fabulously sweet nose of black raspberries, blackberries, licorice, pepper, and subtle herbs, followed by pure, full-bodied flavors that coat the palate, but are neither heavy nor cloying. The oak component is virtually undetectable as it is concealed by the wine’s wealth of fruit and extraordinary concentration. It should drink well for 10-12 years. The 2003s were bottled about seven weeks before my visit, but I could hardly complain about the fact they weren’t “showing.” I highly recommend that wine enthusiasts who love Rhone Ranger wines pay a visit to the James Berry Vineyard, one of the true grand cru sites in the region. Explosively perfumed aromas of candied red berries, rose and woodsmoke, with a spicy overtone. Ripe cherry and blackberry aromas are complicated by suggestions of mace, star anise and smoky herbs. Sweet dark fruit flavors pick up a refreshingly bitter quality with air, along with a note of candied violet. Spicy and broad on the finish, which clings with impressive sweetness and persistence.
