2010 Terre da Vino "Essenze" Barolo

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This straightforward, inviting Barolo boasts classic Nebbiolo aromas of rose, leather, berry spice and tilled earth. It’s not loaded with complexity, but the sour cherry, black pepper and clove flavors are delicious. It closes on a note of subtle oak alongside a drying, tannic finish. (KO)" (10/2014)

A small producer you should know. Better in 2016." (4/2014)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Loaded with finesse, this vibrant, structured Barolo boasts an alluring fragrance of ripe red berry, violet, rose, and cinnamon. 2010 Schiavenza "Bricco Cerretta" Barolo

95 points Wine Spectator: "Seductive aromas of truffle, rose, raspberry and wild cherry draw you in. On the palate, this is elegant and focused, picking up accents of licorice, spice and tobacco. A hint of tar emerges as this graceful red lingers on the complex finish." (10/2014) K&L Notes: A traditional craftsman, winemaker Luciano Pira does not work with barriques in his cellar. He is typically among the last producers to bottle his Barolo wines which consistently show great depth and balance.

2008 Francesco Rinaldi "Le Brunate" Barolo

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Le Brunate is quite a bit richer, deeper and more powerful than the Cannubbio, as one might reasonably expect. Here the fruit boasts tons of pure resonance and stuffing while never losing its essential classicism. Plums, black cherries, leather, tar and licorice meld together, supported by firm yet beautifully integrated tannins. The 2008 Brunate is an explosive wine just waiting to emerge. When it does, it should be striking. Actually, it already is. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. (AG)" (10/2012) Jancis Robinson: "Barolo - La Morra. Mid ruby with broad or ...Read More »

2010 Pecchenino "Le Coste" Barolo

96 points Antonio Galloni: "Another dazzling wine, the 2010 Barolo Le Coste races across the palate with bright red cherry, plum, spice, hard candy, mint and rose petal overtones. The Le Coste is a bit more primary, perfumed, sweet and pliant-especially through the mid-palate than the San Giuseppe. Sinewy, powerful and tannic, the Le Coste is what traditionally made Barolo is all about. The 2010 spent three years in cask." (9/2014)94 points Wine Spectator: "Cherry, floral, tar, iron and mineral aromas and flavors mark this red, which is savory and fruity in equal measure. 2011 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo

Fermentation occurs in stainless steel over 15 days, with daily cap submersion for extraction of flavor and color. The wine is then aged for 24 months in casks. The wine was blended in stainless steel tanks 8 months before bottling." (9/2014) Jancis Robinson: "Pale ruby with orange tinges. Classic Nebbiolo nose yet closed and with the merest hint of oak. 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dark and rich upon first impact, the 2010 Barolo Bricco Luciani is a powerful and muscular expression that aspires to the highest level of aromatic intensity. This wine definitely leaves a lasting impression and speaks in high volumes for the 2010 vintage. It presents delicate tones of dried cherry, blue flower and licorice backed by oak-driven tones of nutmeg and dried tobacco leaf. If feels smooth and silky on the palate. Those firm tannins bode well for long-term consumption. Drink: 2017-2030. (ML)" (7/2014)91 points James Suckling: "Bright aromas of strawberries and flowers fol ...Read More »

Sweet floral notes, bright red berries, subtle spices and mint are all laced together nicely in the glass. Le Vigne is a blend of fruit from multiple vineyard sources. This is the first year in which Villero is part of the blend. (AG)" (3/2015)94 points James Suckling: "A wonderfully tight and polished young red with dark berry, plum and citrus character. 2009 Aldo Conterno "Colonnello" Barolo

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Barolo Colonnello is destined to occupy a special place in my heart as it turned out to be the first sample in my opening blind flight as Italian reviewer with The Wine Advocate. Darkly concentrated and rich, it sets the stage beautifully for 2009 Barolo thanks to its enormous grace, power and elegance. Where it really wins praise, however, is in the mouth. It shows solid grip and firm tannic tenacity that is bold and muscular without going over the top. It moves steadily over the palate in an exceptional manner. 2009 Schiavenza "Prapò" Barolo

A vibrant wine, with a long aftertaste bolstered by dusty tannins. Top 100 Wines 2013." (12/2013)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Red cherry, fresh herbs, smoke and flinty minerals on the nose. Saline, savory, subtly rich red fruit flavors show an almost creamy sweetness with air. 2010 Ettore Germano Barolo "Cerretta"

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barolo Cerretta is a plush and shapely wine with voluptuous contours and soft aromatic layering. This vineyard cru gives rise to some of the plumpest and most fruit-forward expressions of Nebbiolo and the 2010 vintage is an especially good example of that tendency. I love the savory tones of cigar box and old spice that spread so smoothly over the palate. The tannins are very dry and polished in texture. 2003 Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra is even better than the Pajana, with a superbly well-delineated bouquet and deeply nuanced layers of violets, spices, menthol and sweet dark fruit. It fully captures the essence of Ginestra, one of Barolo's greatest sites, in the rich, ripe style of the vintage. This gorgeous Barolo is only in need of further bottle age after which it should drink beautifully to age 20, perhaps beyond. It is one of the highlights of the vintage. Today, the fruit lies a bit in the background, while the wine's aromatics and overall structure are much more in evidence. I imagine the 2009 will require at least a few more years in bottle to flesh out, but it is quite beautiful, even at this stage. There is a weightless tension in the 2009 that is remarkable." 2010 Ceretto "Bricco Rocche" Barolo

96 points Antonio Galloni: "Sweet tobacco, freshly cut flowers, rose petals and sweet red berries, all framed by silky tannins are the signatures in Ceretto's 2010 Barolo Bricco Rocche. Graced with exquisite finesse, the Bricco Rocche offers a little more textural polish than the Prapò at this early stage. At the same time, elements of intrigue remain, suggesting the 2010 isn't showing all of its cards just yet. Overall, this is a fairly dark Barolo for the site at this stage, although the wine does open up very nicely with time in the glass. Sweet floral and spice notes are woven ...Read More »

Precise but also broad and structured, the Sperss pulses with dark fleshed fruit and plenty of tar, licorice, incense and smoke overtones. What a gorgeous wine this is." (8/2014)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1999 Langhe Sperss—Dark ruby. 2003 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo

92 points Antonio Galloni: "Domenico Clerico's 2003 Barolo Pajana has aged impeccably. Time has softened the tannins nicely, while the flavors show the signs of evolution consistent with a ten year-old Barolo from a warm vintage. Dark plum, tobacco, menthol and smoke all flesh out as the 2003 struts its stuff. The characteristic Clerico richness is present, yet the Pajana retains terrific energy. Today, the 2003 is impeccable, but it is best enjoyed over the next handful of years as it is mature and at this point offers not upside from further cellaring." Black cherry, plum, spice, licorice, new leather and menthol are some of the many nuances that flesh out in the glass. Ultimately, though, the 2011 is largely defined by the texture and amplitude of the year. Brunate is often slow out of the gate, so I will not be surprised if that is ...Read More »

That is quite a statement. Today Pianpolvere Soprano is owned by the Migliorini family, proprietors of Rocche dei Manzoni. Pianpolvere Soprano’s 2000 Barolo Bussia Riserva is a terrific wine. It possesses gorgeous inner perfume to its ripe fruit, spices and sweet toasted oak. It is still primary and could use another few years to develop more nuance. Drink or hold for many years." (4/2015)94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2011 Barolo Ginestra Vigna Casa Matè has retained greater freshness than the Gavarini. At the same time, the flavors are dark, bold and intense throughout, with gorgeous balsamic-inflected overtones that add nuance. Very approachable now but better in 2016." (4/2014)90 points Wine & Spirits: "With the chocolatey ta ...Read More »

2004 Paolo Scavino "Rocche dell'Annunziata" Barolo Riserva

96 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2004 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata is a real head-turner. Silky, round and impeccable in the glass, the 2004 fleshes out with exceptional purity and density. Time in bottle has given the 2004 a bit more volume, but the wine is stunningly beautiful, as it has always been. Rose petals, dark red cherries, mint and sweet spices give the finish its textured, super-expressive feel. Since 1990 the Scavino family has produced a number of stunning wines from this grand cru La Morra site; the 2004 is one of the best. 1997 Ceretto "Bricco Rocche" Barolo New!
1997 Ceretto "Bricco Rocche" Barolo

97 points Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby-garnet. Very aromatic, with lots of floral, berry and spice character. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit, supersilky tannins and a long, long finish. Massive, still needs a little more time in the bottle. One of the best ever from here.--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Best after 2009. (Web-2007)"96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The ostentatious, staggering 1997 Barolo Bricco Rocche possesses a dark garnet color with amber at the edge. The explosive bouquet of coffee liqueur, licorice, spice box, black cherries, kirsch, raspberries, and cedar is to die for. The win ...Read More »

2008 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin" Barolo (96ST, 93JS, 92RP, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(Clerico is no longer using Ginestra on the label as of 2007: a change in the law recognized numerous crus, including Ginestra, but since many other growers use Ginestra on their labels, Clerico decided to name this wine after his own parcel): Medium red. Deeper and richer on the nose than the Pajana, with scents of redcurrant, mocha, dried flowers and earth. Wonderfully deep, layered and sweet; lush but with good limestone lift. This floods the palate with flavor and lingers with exceptional purity and persistence. " (10/2011)

2007 Aldo Conterno Barolo "Cicala" 1.5L (Pre-Arrival)

96 points James Suckling: "This is stunning, with licorice, flowers and dark fruits all over. Full and super silky and sexy. I am in love with this wine already. It will age for decades, but it is so in harmony and beautiful now. Gorgeous." (5/2011)95 points Wine Spectator: "Scented with black cherry and plum, this international-style red shows plenty of smoky, toasty oak on the palate. It's rich, with sweet fruit, ample power and complexity, but will take some time to integrate the tannins. Best from 2016 through 2035. 300 cases imported. –BS" (4/2012)94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cicala is every bit as compelling as the ...Read More »
