94 points James Suckling: "This is very floral with blackberries on the nose. It's full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a ripe fruit, caramel and berry aftertaste. Delicious for the vintage. One of the wines of the vintage. Better in 2015." (2/2013) 94 points Wine Spectator: "The sawdust and graphite aromas turn to cherry and raspberry flavors in this vibrant, complex red. A beam of sweet fruit imparts energy and resonance, carrying this to a long, expansive aftertaste. The finish shows potential. Best from 2016 through 2035." (5/2013) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Brunello Tenuta Nuova opens with inky dark consistency and immediate aromas ...Read More »
91 points James Suckling: "A firm, silky wine with hazelnut and berry character. Medium to full body with firm tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Chewy. Give it time to soften. Better in 2016." (10/2014) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva displays a dark, brooding color with evolved aromas of dried spice, autumnal underbrush, cassis, figs and candied prune. As the wine evolves in the glass, it imparts increasingly seductive layers of licorice and dried ginger that build in complexity and momentum in quintessential Brunello fashion. There’s a tightness and firmness to the palate ...Read More »
Wine Spectator: "Fresh earth and leather accents are layered with a snappy note of cherry and hints of pekoe tea and dried cranberry in this tangy red. Medium-bodied, with an aromatic, herbal finish. Drink now through 2023. 3,700 cases made. (Web Only - 2015)"
On a high plateau in the heart of Chianti Classico, the team at Villa Trasqua lives by the "wine is made in the vineyard" ethos. They harvest grapes at their peak, and practice minimal interferance so the aromas of the terroir can shine through. Their "Fanatico" is a Chianti Classico Riserva, with ripe black cherry flavors underlined by baking spice and chocolate. It's well structured, and will age well.
The finest wine in the stable at Corte Rugolin, the Monte Danieli Amarone is sourced from a 60 year old vineyard with excellent sun exposure. It is made from 55% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella, and a balance of the other local varieties Olinara, Dindarellla, Oseleta, and Croatina. Harvest began in September and the grapes were loaded onto special racks where they were allowed to dry at room temperature in a ventilated room for three months. This process reduced the original weight of the grapes by 35-40% via dehydration, and in turn concentrating ... Read More »

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva feels like a wine made from a whole other producer and a different environment when compared to the estate’s 2009 Brunello Campo Marzo. While that wine is thin and fraught, this Riserva on the other hand, is bountiful and generous especially where the use of oak is concerned. Some 48 months in barrel adds cinnamon and vanilla over dark cherry and blackberry. It is meant for near-term consumption. Drink: 2014-2021. (ML)" (2/2014) Jancis Robinson: "Deep ruby with orange tinges. Balsamic fruit with a hint of incense on the nose, Concentr ...Read More »
Received 3 stars Vini Veronelli 2013. From the importer: "The latest among the red Vignalta releases: this is an innovative wine, cheerful, with hints of fruit, red and black berries, spicy, with lots of tannins solid but elegant; "iron fist in a velvet glove." A new reference in the Italian wine scene. Born by the contribution of the main Syrah and other local grapes. This wine was was greeted on its debut with a standing ovation."
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Le Brunate is quite a bit richer, deeper and more powerful than the Cannubbio, as one might reasonably expect. Here the fruit boasts tons of pure resonance and stuffing while never losing its essential classicism. Plums, black cherries, leather, tar and licorice meld together, supported by firm yet beautifully integrated tannins. The 2008 Brunate is an explosive wine just waiting to emerge. When it does, it should be striking. Actually, it already is. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. (AG)" (10/2012) Jancis Robinson: "Barolo - La Morra. Mid ruby with broad or ...Read More »

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The top-shelf red is the 2008 Etna Rosso Aetneus that pays homage to this mighty Sicilian volcano with fruit from pre-phylloxera, 150-year-old vines. I tasted this same vintage last year and assigned the wine a score with a question mark because the bouquet appeared muted and muddled. Whatever problem I encountered last year happily did not reappear during this tasting. This is a strong and physical wine with sharp aromas of wild berry, forest floor, wild mushroom and sweet violets. It shows distinct mineral linearity that reinforces the wine's overall e ...Read More »
Vinous: "The 2008 Nebbiolo d'Alba wraps around the palate with serious depth. Black cherries, plums, spices, tobacco and leather flesh out in a powerful, intense wine that will rival most Barolos an Barbarescos for its tannic heft and pure structure. The 2008 is an intriguing wine to savor over several hours, as there is a lot going on in the glass. (AG)" (10/2013)
93 points James Suckling: "A delicious red with super-integrated tannins that are polished and beautiful. Full body, loads of licorice and berry character and a long, long finish. Superb. Better in 2015 when the tannins are softer but so delicious already. Stylish." (12/2013) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(15.5% alcohol): Bright, deep ruby-red. Black cherry, bitter herbs, violet and licorice on the slightly warm nose. Sweet and creamy in the mouth, showing the depth and intensity of fresh red fruits to support its tannins. In fact, this offers outstanding balance for sagrantino, and the alcohol is far less appar ...Read More »

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of Montalcino’s most sought-out wines, this 2008 is an outstanding effort. It opens with earthy notes of black berries, tilled soil, underbrush, leather, tobacco and prune. The succulent palate reveals juicy wild cherry and black raspberry energized by notes of white pepper, licorice and thyme. Still young and tannic, it should develop beautifully. Drink 2015–2028." (5/2014) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From one of Montalcino’s most celebrated single-vineyards, the 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Schiena d’Asino (“donkey’s back”) comes from a one-hectare hillside crest that runs ...Read More »
Jancis Robinson: "Concentrated ruby and with orange tinges on the rim. Succulent and appetising and quite full bodied. Muscular tannin. Can already be approached." (1/2013) Wine Enthusiast: "This opens with pretty, dark concentration and balanced aromas of black cherry and red currant set against leather, cedar and drying mineral notes. That extra density helps soften the sharp acidity." (5/2013)

On a high plateau in the heart of Chianti Classico, the team at Villa Trasqua lives by the "wine is made in the vineyard" ethos. They harvest grapes at their peak, and practice minimal interferance so the aromas of the terroir can shine through. Their "Trasgaia" is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is aromatic and savory, with notes of coffee, cocoa, clove and plum.
92 points Wine Spectator: "Pure, vibrant and elegant, with violet, black currant, cherry and sweet spice flavors. Modern in style, yet stylish and harmonious. Drink now through 2020." (9/2011) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Carnasciale comes across as quite fragile in this vintage. Dark cherries, plums, spices and herbs are some of the nuances that emerge from this feminine, delicate wine. The graceful finish leaves a lasting impression. Carnasciale is the second wine of Caberlot. In some recent years it has been an overachiever, but the 2008 is a relatively modest vintage for this bottling. (AG) ...Read More »
