Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE, 96AG, 95RP, 94CG, 94ST, 94WS, 93JS). Wine Enthusiast: "This is, as always, a gorgeous wine, rich, balanced and delicious. It shows classic Napa Valley ripeness, with blackberry jam, plum, dark chocolate and sweet oak flavors. Plush and velvety doesn’t begin to do it justice. Despite its fabulous lushness, this is a wine to age. Depending on your taste, it will provide excellence from now until 2030. Cellar Selection." Of the 2008 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 2" Central Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2008 Syrah Cumulus Vineyard is impeccably silky and refined. Dark fruit, camphor, licorice, smoke and mocha flesh out in this gorgeous, delineated wine. The 2008 impresses for its length and persistence. Today, the 2008 is more refined and elegant than when I tasted it a year ago. The 2008 is 82% Syrah, 13.5% Grenache and 4.5% Roussanne (all destemmed) that spent approximately 32 months in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023." (08/2012)

2008 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" ((91-94BH)). "Outstanding" and 91-94 points Allen Meadows: "A discreet but not invisible touch of oak frames the ripe orchard fruit aromas, particularly peach and apricot, as well as pretty floral notes. The fresh, intense and notably sweet flavors possess excellent intensity and vibrancy before culminating in a generous and mouth coating finish that displays real verve. I really like the sense of underlying tension and the abundant amount of dry extract confers an almost chewy quality on the gorgeously long finish. In a word, terrific." (Tasted: Jun 01, 2010)

2010 Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Pucelles" (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Pucelles" (OWC - (92-95BH), (94-95ST)) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(I tasted a pre-bottling sample): Bright yellow. Sexy aromas of peach, spices, minerals and nut oil. Densely packed and powerful but a bit perturbed in its current form, with a recent SO2 addition accentuating the wine's acidity. Subtle notes of white pepper and wild herbs emerge with air to complicate the white peach and mineral flavors. Very juicy wine with superb depth and inner-mouth tension. Finishes with atypical energy for this cuvee and sneaky length." (09/2012)

2009 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Richebourg Grand Cru ((91-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A notably floral, spicy and very cool nose is trimmed in noticeable but reasonable wood and leads to very rich, round and velvety big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a moderately oaked but strikingly long finish. Again, the oak is not subtle on the palate but there appears to be more than enough concentration to handle it." (01/2011)

2010 Domaine Paul Pernot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (1.5L)
Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2010 Domaine Paul Pernot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (1.5L) (95BH, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is not quite as refined as the Bienvenues but it's more complex still with an unusually expressive nose at this early stage of notably ripe white peach, pear, yellow peach and apricot fruit scents that combine with very pretty floral nuances. The rich, powerful and muscular full-bodied flavors ooze with dry extract that imparts an opulent mouth feel to the attractively precise and borderline painfully intense finish. This is exceptionally backwards and just like the nose, the palate impression is not as fine but this is both bigger and longer. Impressive." (06/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Louis Latour Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Les Demoiselles" (94BH, 92WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more subtle touch of wood sets off the lightly spiced floral, green apple, white peach and pear aromas that lead to very pure, detailed and stony medium weight plus flavors that possess superb intensity and huge length on the mouth coating finish. This is presently quite understated and does an impressive job of blending power and finesse in a package of impact without heaviness." (07/2009)

Bid on this bottle of 1989 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (100JS, 100RP, 100WS, 98AG, 97ST). Wine Spectator: "What a gorgeous, seductive and beautiful wine, as always. I can't get over the perfumed aromas of subtle milk chocolate, cedar and sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, yet so refined and silky, lasting for minutes on the palate. Everything is in just the right proportion. This is a wine that will go on forever. I love it. One of my great loves in the wine world." (01/2010)

2010 Domaine Tortochot Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Tortochot Chambertin Grand Cru (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is noticeably more restrained, indeed even recalcitrant on the otherwise extremely fresh, cool, airy and pure essence of red pinot fruit, wet stone and discreet earth nuances. There is good richness to the round and seductively textured flavors that exude a fine minerality that delivers outstanding length on the understated and impeccably well-balanced finish that displays plenty of the austerity for which young Chambertin is justifiably well-known." James Suckling: "Extremely aromatic with lead pencil and hints of currant undertone. Full body, with silky tannins and a very, very long finish. The texture is just right. This is so racy and refined with fabulous texture. I love the savory character. A wine with a solid core of fruit and super silky tannins. It is beautiful and dense yet refined." (05/2014)

Of the 2007 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A perfect wine, the 2007 Vecina provides a prodigious display of blackberries, charcoal, black currants, burning embers and a La Mission-Haut-Brion-like hot rock/gravelly character. The most tannic as well as most concentrated and layered of the 2007s, this is a long-term, but utterly brilliant wine. In many ways it reminds me of the Harlan Estate itself giv

2005 Revana Family Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Revana Family Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 92RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more concentrated, but at the same time more reserved and backward, is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep plum/purple in color with a sweet nose of burning embers, charcoal, black currants, and some subtle smoked herbs, the wine again displays terrific aromatic complexity and a full-bodied, nicely layered palate impression, with integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood. It is a slightly deeper, richer wine than the 2004, and the tannins seem slightly more elevated, but this wine has great balance, and just needs 1-2 years of bottle age. It should actually eclipse the 2004 in 3-4 years." (12/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Harlan "The Maiden" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (OWC - 97WE, 94WS, 92RP, 91ST) in original wood. Wine Enthusiast: "The ’04 Maiden is very close to Harlan Estate in quality. The Maiden is a touch less elegant; but it is such a wholesome wine, so succulent in blackberry, cassis, licorice, and roasted cedar. The tannins are so regal—even the slight prickle of acidity works for polish. So beautiful now, it’s hard to know when to suggest drinking it, but this should easily be a 10-15 year wine." Evolves to tar and asphalt. Really held back, yet powerful grip slaps you. This is mind-blowing in texture. The greatest Dow ever made. Best after 2022." (05/2010)

Of the 2009 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 3" Central Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Looking at the 2009 Cumulus Vineyard #3, it is an interesting blend of 80% Syrah, 14% Grenache and 6% Roussanne that spent 30 months in 30% new French oak. Offering up lively black fruits, pepper and roasted meat-like aromas on the nose, it’s a total knockout on the palate and has layers of richness that stay perfectly focused. A blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Grenache that was aged in 500-liter French oak puncheons, it boasts a thrilling bouquet of cassis, lead pencil shavings, licorice and toasted spices. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes. According to Allen Meadows: "The Dominique Laurent 1999s could be the strongest set of wines he has ever produced. They are quite individual in style and will not necessarily be to the taste of purists as they are arguably more about Dominique Laurent and his vision of what Burgundies should be rather than any unadorned reflection of the underlying terroir. That said, if you have admired the style of M. Laurent's wines in the past, then you will love his 1999s as they are some of the most intense, most seductive and most particular wines I tasted on this trip. As M. Laurent will tell you over and over on any given visit, he searches only for the best growers and always for wines from old vines that deliver density, concentration and complexity." The 2003 Syrah Eisele Vineyard reveals a wonderful blackberry, chocolate, and peppery-scented nose along with good subtlety as well as authoritative richness, power, and purity. Bid on this magnum of 2010 Linne Calodo "Sticks & Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (94RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Sticks and Stones is a gorgeous, vibrant wine laced with sweet red cherries, licorice, mint and spices. There is a purity and sheer finesse here that is striking. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. This is a stunning, medium-bodied wine built on freshness, acidity and length. In 2010, the blend is 71% Grenache, 19% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. What a great way to start this tasting. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. This set of wines from proprietor Matt Trevisan was among the most impressive I tasted in Paso Robles. (AG)" (08/2012)

Sexy aromas of redcurrant, strawberry and smoked meat. Chewy, firmly built and rather backward, with a saline quality to the spice and mineral flavors. Showing little in the way of easy sweetness today but finishes with excellent breadth and fine-grained tannins." (03/2009)

2007 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A profound wine from a superb Napa vintage for Bordeaux varietals, the 2007’s nose may cause one to overdose on blue, black and red berry fruit. The extraordinary intensity, purity and depth in this rich, flamboyant, exuberant wine are mindboggling. This bigger-than-life Cabernet Sauvignon appears set for 20-30 years of aging. It can be drunk now, but because of its sweet, velvety tannins, it will still be offering sensational drinking in 2040. (RP)" (06/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 1985 Domaine Robert Ampeau Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Combettes". 1985 is the first year that Michael Ampeau took over the domaine that his grandfather established, which includes ten Premier Crus. These wines are notorious for aging at a snail's pace. 17.5/20 points Clive Coates: "Surprisingly fresh nose. Ripe, ample and nicely steely-peachy. Good vigour. Plenty of depth and very good grip. Fine." ("The Wines of Burgundy," 10/2005)

2003 Ridge "Ponzo Vineyard" Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge "Ponzo Vineyard" Russian River Valley Zinfandel. Connoisseurs Guide: "Quite clearly cut from different cloth than the rest of its relations from Ridge, this wine is leaner and firmer in build with bright berries overlain by a mild bit of spice. It is a wine that very much wants drinking with food, and its absence of heat and its essentially slightly snappy style make it a good match for veal piccata." (01/2006)

2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend. Ovid's "Experiment" bottling always changes, as the team at Ovid--you guessed it--experiments with different wines and is inspired by the characteristics of new yield. Made by Austin Peterson with consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, the 2009 Ovid "Experiment" is a blend of 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, both from single clones. The Cabernet provides structure and depth, along with rich cassis and cocoa notes. The Cabernet Franc adds brightness and lift, in the form of red fruit and floral highlights in the nose, and earthy notes on the palate. The smooth finish is defined by supremely long, lithe tannins.

2006 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (96RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chardonnay Three Sisters Vineyard (700 cases) possesses a superb texture in addition to abundant amounts of popcorn, white currant, hazelnut, and tropical fruit blossom characteristics, superb purity as well as acidity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a beautiful finish. In a vintage that was challenging for many California Chardonnay producers, the Three Sisters and the 2006 Marcassin Estate Chardonnays stand out as candidates for 'wines of the vintage'. Given the history of the vintage and the challenging conditions for Chardonnay, I would suspect these wines will evolve quickly by Marcassin’s standards, meaning they are probably best drunk in their first decade of life." This dark ruby/purple-colored, seductive wine offers blazingly intense aromas of cigar box, smoky oak, and jammy black currants with a hint of Provencal herbs. Ripe and full-bodied, with low acidity, and a fleshy, succulent texture, it is a wine to drink over the next 14-15 years." (12/1998)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Gemstone Yountville Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 91RP, 90ST, 89WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The inky/purple-hued 2003 Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and the rest tiny portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, reveals copious notes of chocolate along with hints of melted tar, charcoal, black cherries, and currants. Full-bodied, dense, and well-balanced, it should drink well for 10-15 years. Interestingly, Paul Frank continues to sell much of his production to such high quality wineries as Pahlmeyer. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "D’Arenberg’s most famous wine is its flagship, The Dead Arm Shiraz. The 2005 The Dead Arm Shiraz is sourced from ancient head-pruned vines. It was aged for 22 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. It is opaque purple/black with an expansive perfume of toast, smoke, spice box, mineral, pencil lead, tar, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied, opulent, and super-concentrated, this structured, lengthy wine will benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and drink well through 2025. (JM)" (10/2007)

2009 Herb Lamb "HL Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Herb Lamb "HL Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in original wood. Winemaker Mike Trujillo calls this "a more structured vintage than some, not as plump and fruit driven, but producing a more linear and focused wine. This wine has a lovely bouquet with a balance that is perfect for the weight of the wine. The nose is seamless, expressive and pretty, showing red fruits and a rich blueberry reduction. In the mouth you sense a richness of fig, ripe plum, deep black cherry and blackberry. You can feel the finesse and elegance on the palate that highlights the sweet red fruit flavors - cherry, currant, raspberry and red licorice. There are spicy, toasted oak flavors with silky, elegant tannins which are muted in the background, as an extra element giving balance to the wine.”

The similarities include the briary, wild herb scents of sage and thyme that complex the ripe red cherry pie filling fruit, cocoa, cola and licorice.
