2015 Fromm "Clayvin Vineyard" Chardonnay Marlborough (Previously $40)

95 points Bob Campbell: "Intense, youthful chardonnay with mineral, oyster shell, citrus, grapefruit, stone fruit, hazelnut and spicy oak flavours. A tight, focused and complex wine that can be appreciated now but has a lot of potential." 94 points James Suckling: "Impressive purity and density of fruit with ripe grapefruit and peach as well as nectarine and hints of mango, subtly placed oak and attractive flinty notes. The palate has a bold serve of rich stone fruit flavor, bright acid to hold fleshy texture in check and a gently mealy, savory finish." 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Clayvin Vineyard Chardonnay is a knockout Marlb ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Huguenot "Champs Perdrix" Marsannay (Previously $40) Top Pick!
2015 Domaine Huguenot "Champs Perdrix" Marsannay (Previously $40)

Vinous: "Cask sample. Tight structure, fresh cherry fruit, a very light smoky touch to finish. Fine-grained tannin that leaves quite a grip on the finish. Needs several years to unfurl. Drink from 2019 to 2029. (RH)" (1/2017) K&L Notes: Neal Martin writes: "The Huguenot family can trace their viticultural roots back through ten generations, to the year 1789 in the village of Marsannay. It is presently managed by Philippe Huguenot, who runs their 22 hectares of vine in Marsannay, Fixin and Gevrey (including one grand cru in the shape of Charmes-Chambertin), and under his tenur... 2015 Si Vintners "White" Margaret River Western Australia (Biodynamic) (Previously $25)

91 points James Suckling: "An unfiltered semillon chardonnay that has plenty of character, showing a light golden bronze hue. It's a riot of bright lemon, grapefruit and peach; has plenty of texture and impressive concentration of flavor. Drink now, brilliant value here." K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "A blend of Semillon and chardonnay, this fruit was hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in a mixture of concrete eggs, large format french oak and stainless steel. Kept on lees until just prior to bottling. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, no additives only a minimal sulphu... Read More »

2011 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Previously $40)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape offers gorgeous kirsch and strawberry-styled fruits to go with notions of spring flowers, licorice and rose petal. A perfumed, medium to full-bodied effort, it has loads of charm and class and will have a decade of overall longevity. (JD)" (8/2014) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Brilliant ruby. Black raspberry, lavender and white pepper on the expressive nose. Juicy and open-knit, offering lively red fruit flavors and a jolt of bracing acidity. Closes silky and sweet, with no obvious tannins and very good fruity persistence. This is already delicious. Compass Box Oak Cross Blended Malt Whisky (750ml) (Previously $55)

Whisky Advocate: "A blend of three different single malts. Its name derives from the fact that the whisky is aged in American oak bodies with French Oak heads (a cross of both oaks). There’s no age statement, but the whiskies are all older than ten years. This is a gentle, subtly complex, somewhat lithe, easy drinking whisky (and with less oak spice than its predecessor, The Spice Tree). People think whisky is an after-dinner drink, but I think this would make a great aperitif because of its delicate dry spice notes and light body. I’m picking up evenly-proportioned notes ...Read More »

2013 Hentley Farm "The Beast" Single Block Shiraz Barossa Valley

95 points James Halliday: "Awesomely powerful, with a tsunami of sombre black fruits, licorice and tannins to match, overwhelm you the moment the wine enters the mouth. It is, of course, full-bodied, and doesn't have the fluid grace of the other Hentley Farm '13 Shirazs. It is indeed a beast, but will repay those who put their faith in the high quality corks used by Henley Farm." (3/2015) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Shiraz The Beast has an earthy/gamey nose with dried mulberries and preserved plums at the core, morphing into spice box, sandalwood and peppery notes. Full-bod ...Read More »

2014 Rhys "Family Farm Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir

93 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Family Farm Pinot Noir is a bit more typical of the vintage’s ripeness level, coming in at 13.5 percent. The bouquet seems a tad more marked by its new wood than most of these other single vineyard bottlings, but this is just the stage the wine is in today. The nose is a fine blend of cassis, black cherries, a touch of chicory, dark soil tones, espresso, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and a bit more vibrant in personality than its San Mateo stable-mate of Home Vineyard. The balance is impeccable, the ...Read More »

2013 Aleph Semillon Mendoza (Previously $24)

San Francisco resident Roberto Rodriguez Canal is the mind behind Aleph, a winery whose wines we have truly enjoyed carrying over the past several years. According to Roberto: "We do not produce wine to please mass demand. Our wines are not over extracted and definitely not over oaked, we produce limited quantity of wine with its own character." Aleph Semillon uses fruit from a 70 year old vineyard in Lujan de Cuyo. On the palate, this shows nicely dry, but with a citric, waxy yellow fruited quality. Stone fruits and melons as well, with the clean fl... Read More »

2015 Honorio Rubio "Aaron" Garnacha Rioja (Previously $40)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The new red, part of the Edición Limitada series, is the 2015 Aaron, a varietal Garnacha from old vines fermented in open concrete vats and aged in used 500-liter French oak barrels, named after Rubio's son born in September 2015. It felt a bit closed and reticent at first, with shy aromas but nice harmony and subtlety. The palate is consistent with the nose, medium-bodied, fresh, balanced and subtle. It was bottled after 12 months in barrel. (LG)" (2/2018) K&L Notes: This is 100% old vine Garnacha, from an area in southwestern Rioja Alta where the quality of the Gar... Read More »

2013 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $125.00) Top Pick!
2013 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $125.00)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Remarkably rich and well-made, with a taut, dense core of earthy anise and black licorice notes woven into currant and blackberry elements. Once settled, the flavors expand and lift, imparting a sense of elegance and finesse without losing the tannic backbone. Best from 2020 through 2034." (10/2016) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "If hardly a soft and open wine and one that similarly inclines to the toughness that ultimately wins out in its sibling reviewed just below, Groth's Reserve bottling is far deeper and better filled with more than enough fruity stuffing holding its ample tannins ...Read More »

North Shore "Scofflaw" Old Tom Gin (750ml) (Previously $32)

Rich, round texture in the classic Old Tom style, the North Shore Scottlaw is an extremely sippable and mixable gin with additional sugar added in the traditional manner. We love Scofflaw Old Tom Gin on the rocks, in a Tom Collins, or a Martinez, and it plays great with hot peppers, cucumber, fresh berries and with floral flavors. It plays very well in a range of cocktails, both classic and new.

Full-body yet refined and beautiful with stunning length and complexity. It has a transparency that shows such greatness and beauty. Half the normal production. Has an energy and brightness. Chile's first perfect wine and well deserved. Better in 2020." Atoosa’s Vineyard now brings its own distinctive expression of Syrah to our line-up. Located on the cool southern edge of the Russian River Valley, the superb fruit from this the late-ripening spot has been adding a vital element to our Kalen’s and formed the core of our Russian River Valley Syrah since 2012. The vibrant middle weight flavors possess a velvety mid-palate and good minerality on the attractively well-balanced and persistent finish. This isn't especially complex at present but the underlying material appears to be such that my rating presumes that more depth will develop with a few years of bottle age." (4/2017)

2014 La Source du Ruault "Sensei" Saumur-Champigny Rouge (Previously $25)

I first met vigneron Jean-Noël Millon while attending an organic wine fair in the South of France. The wines were impressive, so we arranged to meet on my trip through the Loire a couple of months later. A visit to the winery led to a trip through the ancient cellar, which had been carved from the chalky stone (known as tuffeau) below two centuries before. As we progressed from chamber to chamber, it began to feel more a like a spelunking expedition. Ancient coins were pressed into the walls by past workers, the old wine press was still intact, even the ... Read More »

2007 Teresa Raiz Decano Rosso (Previously $30)

This is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Cabernet Franc, aged one year in Allier oak barrels. It is home to many small wineries including one of our favorites, Ermacora. Most of the famous wines produced in Friuli (the everyday usage of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia) are white but over the past couple of decades the quality of reds has jumped considerably.

The supple texture and detailed finish go on and on. Drink now through 2027. 150 cases made." K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "Our Roussanne Marsanne is based on the style of the great Hermitage Blancs of the Northern Rhone Valley.
