2014 Enric Soler Vinyes de Xarel-lo "Improvisació" Penedes (Previously $40)

Enric Soler is a Xarel-lo master. His wines are highly sought out in his native Catalunya and throughout Spain; we believe it is high time to share these top quality Penedes whites. The "Improvisació" bottling comes from 40-65 year-old Xarel-lo growing in calcareous clay soil. Incredibly expressive, this white shows yellow fruit flavors, a fennel like savor, great volume and loads of freshness. Think very good quality white Burgundy, transposed to the beautiful, warmer, sunnier Mediterranean.

2013 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $125.00)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Remarkably rich and well-made, with a taut, dense core of earthy anise and black licorice notes woven into currant and blackberry elements. Once settled, the flavors expand and lift, imparting a sense of elegance and finesse without losing the tannic backbone. Best from 2020 through 2034." (10/2016) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "If hardly a soft and open wine and one that similarly inclines to the toughness that ultimately wins out in its sibling reviewed just below, Groth's Reserve bottling is far deeper and better filled with more than enough fruity stuffing holding its ample tannins ...Read More »

Supremely elegant Chardonnay." 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 El Legado Chardonnay offers a good core of ripe peach, pink grapefruit and pineapple notes on the nose with underlying sulfide/struck match, cedar and yeast extract hints. There is excellent ripeness displayed by the bold, concentrated and robust broad-shouldered flavors that really vibrate on the complex and equally long finish. 2014 Petit-Village, Pomerol (Previously $60)

(2/2017) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Petit-Village is bold, racy and voluptuous, all of which add to its considerable near- and medium-term appeal. Full-bodied, voluptuous and layered, it doesn’t pull any punches, yet never seems over-the-top, heavy or cumbersome. Giving up notes of garrigue, sugared spice, blackberry, black cherry liqueur and spring flowers, it’s already drinking beautifully, but will continue to shine through 2024 at a minimum. The palate is unctuous, decadent and powerful – completely living up to its name – with layers of honeyed fruit on the long finish. It is like a super-charged Beerenauslese, somehow retaining immense tension and precision on the finish. For hedonists only. Queue up.
