2007 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96JD, 96RP, 95WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Never one of Laurent's favorite vintages (although I suspect he's warmed up to it slightly), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to drink brilliantly, and while this bottle was just slightly closed, I’ve had numerous bottles from my cellar that are open and singing. Nevertheless, on this occasion, it took some swirling to get it to open up and it’s a concentrated, structured, full-bodied beauty that has the classic elegance of the estate yet with another level of fruit and exuberance. It’s just at the early stages of full maturity, is a smoking good drink and will keep for another 10-15 years. (JD) 96+" (02/2017)

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2005 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (95JD, 95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most masculine and structured of the group, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is locked and loaded, with serious concentration, big tannin and no shortage of length on the finish. Coming from a year that featured a cool summer and then scorching temps around harvest, this beauty doles out loads of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality, as well as a seamless, perfectly balanced profile. Give it another 2-3 years and drink it through 2025. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 2007 Paul Autard "La Côte Ronde" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 95WS, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "A stunner, combining the rich currant, fig and boysenberry fruit of the vintage with the region's characteristic charred apple wood, graphite, aged tobacco and black tea notes. The long, invigorating finish is supported by riveting acidity and well-embedded grip. When power and finesse work together, it's a beautiful thing. (JM)" (09/2009)

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2006 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aieul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (97JD, 96RP, 93VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the top wines of the vintage, the 2006 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul is a quintessential Châteauneuf, boasting awesome aromatics of kirsch and blackberry liquor, garrigue, licorice, and minerals. Both decadent and fresh at the same time on the nose, the wine is full bodied and balanced on the palate, showing a gorgeous, silky texture, good acidity and a very long, focused finish. This is delicious now, but I think it will be even better in 4 to 6 years, and then drink well for 15+. In all the fuss over the ’07, don’t miss this wine!" (08/2010)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blockbuster 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac shows classic garrigue notes intermixed with ground pepper, lavender, and sweet black currant and black cherry notes with hints of raspberry and olive. The wine is full-bodied has a boatload of tannin, fabulous concentration, and a finish of close to 50 seconds. This is a brilliant Barbe Rac that should be at its best between 2010 and 2025. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Grand Veneur "Les Origines" Châteauneuf du Pape (95JD, 95RP, (90-93ST), 92WS, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I'd wager one of the finest examples of this cuvee ever made (the 2009 and 2010 will give it run for its money), the sensational 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Origines from the Jaume family is a perfect example of a modern styled Chateauneuf du Pape that never loses its Southern Rhone soul. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah that was aged in equal parts barrels and tanks, it offers a ripe, pedal-to-the-metal bouquet of ripe black fruits, charred meats, pan drippings, saddle leather and garrigue that continues to open up with time in the glass. On the palate, it's full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and layered, with sweet, sweet tannin and a great finish. This closed down shortly after release but is just now staring to show its true potential. Drink bottles anytime over the coming decade. (JD)" (02/2017)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2005 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (95RP, 95WS, 93ST). Wine Spectator: "This is dense and chewy, but not tiring to drink, thanks to fresh acidity and an edgy, gravelly feel that drives the blackberry, currant and sweet spice notes. The long finish has great briary grip, with notes of garrigue and hot stone checking in. Best from 2010 through 2030. *#5 on the Top 100 of 2008* (JM)" (04/2008)

1991 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1991 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (92RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opus One's 1991 is a gorgeously rich, opaque ruby/purple-colored wine with a knock-out nose of smoke, cassis, vanilla, and a whiff of herbs and licorice. Full-bodied, with surprisingly supple, concentrated, chocolatey, cassis, and blackcurrant flavors that ooze across the palate, this voluptuously-textured example of Opus One is atypical in a vintage that produced so many backward wines. There is no question the wine possesses plenty of tannin, but it is admirably concealed by the copious quantities of concentrated fruit. (RP)" (02/1995)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (100JD, 100RP, (98-100WE), 98JS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically – a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut

Wine Spectator: "This has given way to the remnants of a sinewy, cedary spine, with dried blood orange and bitter cherry notes and flickers of clove and tobacco. 1969 Maison Leroy Echézeaux
Bid on this bottle of 1969 Maison Leroy Echézeaux (91BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There are two lots of this wine around that are distinctly different. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which is which from the lable but there is no question when the wines are tasted. The best examples are wonderfully spicy and expressive with a touch of sous-bois framing nicely complex older burg aromas that introduce medium full, delicious, intense flavors that display good finishing richness and they will continue to hold for some years to come. The less successful examples are pretty on the nose and mid-palate but there is noticeable acid that pokes through on the finish and should be drunk up over the next few years. I have tasted wines from both lots any number of times and they seem relatively consistent." (11/2009)

Dark nose offers inviting notes of cassis, black cherry, cocoa powder, leather and game; the first of these wines to show a strong floral element. Juicy, gripping and extremely complex, with a beautiful sugar/acid balance contributing to the impression of inner-mouth spine and energy. A wonderfully elegant, European-styled Insignia that conveys outstanding flavor intensity and depth without any impression of weight. Finishes with suave tannins and terrific length. 1981 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 1981 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (94JG, 92RP). John Gilman: "In my days as a wine merchant, I drank an awful lot of bottles of the 1981 Cheval Blanc, as I always found this to be one of the top wines of the vintage and its price back in the day (and I know I am really dating myself here) was often around forty dollars a bottle! It was pretty easy at that price to reach for this wine off of the shelf to take home and elevate a midweek dinner with its beauty and elegance! At age thirty-five, the wine continues to drink with great vibrancy and complexity, wafting from the glass in a constellation of red and black cherries, menthol, a beautifully complex base of gravelly soil tones, cigar ash and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and wide open, with a lovely core, fine balance and grip, melting tannins and a long, refined perfectly poised finish. A beautiful example of the vintage. Drink between 2016-2040." (08/2016)

This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. *Ranked as the Top Wine of 1997, Cellar Selection* (JS)" (04/1997)

1996 Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Champagne
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru Champagne. Among well-known estates in Champagne, including the producers-formerly-known-as “Grandes Marques,” Egly-Ouriet enjoys special renown. This long-time grower has only been estate bottling Champagne since the 1950s, when Charles Egly bottled 100 cases a year for family and friends. His son Michel expanded this to 1,600 cases, but when Francis Egly took over in 1982, he became a committed récoltant manipulant (grower-producer) and electrified the category with sensational wines that were sinewy yet lithe, and were as delicious as vin clair as they were with bubbles. Part of the reason for this is that Egly’s vinification approach is unusual, but as he says, “In the past, the best vintages of Champagne are those with a high degree of maturity.” You’re right if you inferred that he means most champagnes are made from fruit that isn’t fully ripened (which sounds bad, but in the case of Champagne it isn’t), because most pr

There is fine richness and depth to the full-bodied and serious middle weight flavors that also possess sufficient mid-palate fat to completely buffer the firm tannins on the velvety, mouth coating and solidly lingering finish. Wine Enthusiast: "Some will critique this Pinot Noir as being too big and extracted, and lacking delicacy. But Olivet Lane Pinots are seldom delicate. You look for massive fruit and elaborate construction, and that’s what you find in this fabulously exotic wine. It’s a beauty, rich, dense and opulent, with complex cherry, rose petal, dark chocolate and new oak flavors, wrapped into firm, refined tannins. Just gorgeous now, with a few hours of decanting, but it will easily develop bottle nuances for a good eight years. *Cellar Selection*" (02/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White (97RP). Possessing rock-star levels of richness and texture on the palate, with full-bodied depth and power that never seems heavy or cumbersome, it has classic SQN white notes of buttered golden fruits, honeysuckle, honeycomb, toast and white flowers. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Peter Michael "Cuvée Indigène" Knights Valley Chardonnay (95ST, 94RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Greenish gold. Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 2005 Quintessa Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (OWC - 90CG) in original wood. Connoisseurs Guide: "In is hard not to be taken in by the lovely, sweet oak perfumes that take the early lead here, yet there is plenty of bright, young fruit beneath its vanillin veneer, and the wine proves to be fairly complete. Only a slight last-minute drop-off in fruit holds it back from higher award just now, but we do not rule out its chances for better as its knits together and hopefully expands with a stay of a few years in the cellar. *One Star*" (08/2008)

John Gilman: "Domaine Comte Liger-Belair) The 2007 Colombière is a very suave and sexy wine out of the blocks that seems to have channeled the spirit of Henri Jayer into the bottle. The extremely captivating nose offers up scents of roasted plums and cherries, woodsmoke, lovely soil tones, duck, coffee and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and silky, with fine mid-palate depth, modest tannins, sound acids and lovely focus and grip on the long and quite refined finish. 2008 Hundred Acre "Summer Dreams" Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Hundred Acre "Summer Dreams" Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the omnipresent rogue genius Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre, this 2008 barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc essentially defines Jayson and his idiosyncratic but world-class wine making efforts. Stunningly exotic notes of candle wax, tropical fruit, honeysuckle, and peach jump from the glass of this full-throttle, over-the-top and bigger-than-life Sauvignon Blanc. Is it a vinous representation of Woodbridge’s personality? Strikingly rich, like a great Haut Brion blanc, with full-bodied texture and more density and unctuosity than most Chardonnays, this is probably a love-it-or-leave it wine, but I love it. He pushes the envelope, and as wine consumers we should all be thankful that the few and far between Jayson Woodbridges of the world take no prisoners, suffer no fools, and go their merry ways, marching to the beat of a drummer that most of us will neve

2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (97WE, 91VN). Wine Enthusiast: "This very dense, tannic Pinot Noir represents a triumph for both the winery, the vintage and the region it represents. A multi-clone blend (hence the name) with high, cool-climate acidity and aged in 100% new oak, it’s still young, fresh and tight. The astringency throws a cloak over the raspberries, cherries, rosehip tea and Indian spice flavors, which reveal themselves only reluctantly. But they’re there, in an imposing texture of velvet and silk. This enormous wine demands time. *Best of 2010. Cellar Selection* " (03/2010)

Slightly lighter in color and weight when compared to the 2003, it’s showing some maturity and can be consumed anytime, but will without a doubt continue to evolve gracefully for another decade or more. This was a challenging vintage, but the wines turned out outstanding, and very Burgundian. The alcohol is 13.9%, which is one of their lowest sugar levels.
