Bid on this magnum of 2004 Vietti "Masseria" Barbaresco (1.5L) (95VN, 93ST, 93W&S, 93WS). Vinous: "Vietti’s 2004 Barbaresco Masseria is the most impressive wine of the evening, especially with regards to its potential for the future. A super-classic profile of rose petal, cinnamon, tar, plum and savory herbs lifts out of the glass in this striking, mid-weight Barbaresco. On this night, the 2004 Masseria is incredibly beautiful. Readers lucky enough to own it can look forward to another 15-20 years of fabulous drinking. (AG) 95+" (12/2013)

2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (97ST, 97WE, 94JS, 94WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Captivatingly intense yet refined aromas of ripe red cherry, mint, smoke and black truffle, complicated by lovely mineral and floral elements. Ripe, rich and velvety on entry, then concentrated in the middle, with flavors of red cherry, cassis, spices, bay leaf, dark chocolate and espresso. Amazingly well balanced and fresh wine, with sound, bright acids supplying wonderful lift and precision and smooth, noble tannins adding considerable power and grace. The finish goes on for minutes, highlighted by an enchanting floral-mineral quality; in my experience, the appearance of this strong floral component (in the absence of herbal or peppery aromas and flavors more typical of lesser vintages) at this early stage of development is typical of the greatest versions of Sassicaia. One of the top dozen Sassicaia bottlings ever. (ST)" (01/2011)

2004 Stony Hill Napa Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Stony Hill Napa Valley Chardonnay. This all-estate Chardonnay came from Stony Hill's vineyards in St. Helena and was fermented in 5- to 25-year-old barrles and aged for 10 months in neutral French oak, which rounded out the edges of this no Malo wine. With six years of bottle age, the wine has started to show mature fruit--roasted pears and citrus--with minerals at the fore. Lovely and rich, but with plenty of freshness left, this wine would be fantastic with risotto with spring peas or morels.

Of the 2004 Grgich Hills "Yountville Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The deep ruby/purple-hued 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville Selection is a beautiful effort from this iconic Napa Valley winery. Made from an organically farmed vineyard, and presumably 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it was aged 27 months in 100% French oak (80% new). The purity of the fruit as well as the lovely perfume of creme de cassis, flowers, red and black currants and spice are terrific. Expressive, expansive and rich on the palate, with wonderful integration of wood, alcohol, tannin and acidity, this beauty can be enjoyed now and over the next 10-15 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

Heady, high-pitched aromas of black raspberry, potpourri, Asian spices and minerals, complicated by a smoky topnote. Juicy, sharply focused red and dark berry flavors show excellent depth and vivacity, picking up candied rose and spicecake qualities with air. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Very well defined on the nose with a citrus, nectarine and almond bouquet. The palate is rounded on the entry with notes of grapefruit, almond, nectarine and apple-blossom. Just a little soft on the finish, but otherwise this is a sublime Meursault. Tasted January 2011. It possesses an opaque ruby/purple color, a gorgeous perfume of loamy soil, new saddle leather, chocolate, and black cherry and black currant fruit, full body, and ripe tannin in the finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 99JS, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is something ethereal about the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS, a wine that I tend to give more perfect scores to than of the other Schrader offerings. This is clone 4 from a special block of the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and it always seems to have these incredible, explosive aromatics ranging from blueberry to blackberry to cassis to spring flowers and lead pencil shavings. It’s always one of the more seductive wines early on, with sweet, velvety tannins, a plush, succulent mouthfeel, full-bodied splendor and majestic texture. 2012 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection has a dense blackish/purple color and creamy, sweet crème de cassis fruit, blackberries, a touch of graphite and vanilla, This exuberant, boisterous, in-your-face style of Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly a fruit bomb, so be warned. Full-bodied and opulent with stunning concentration and richness, the wine has no hard edges and is much in the Caymus style of terrific fruit intensity (most of it black and blue), voluptuous texture, and a stunning finish with plenty of glycerin, wood and spice. The alcohol on the label is listed at 14.8%, which seems about accurate. I have Caymus Special Selection in my cellar back to some of the historic wines made by Chuck Wagner’s father in the early 1970s, and while the style’s gotten more precocious and consumer-friendly, these wines, even the more latter-day styles, have

One of the most opulent, racy wines in this vertical, the 1997 literally explodes from the glass. Juicy dark red cherries, menthol, tobacco and licorice all make an appearance as the 1997 opens up over time. Readers holding the 1997 are in for a thrill. Even though the growing season was defined by hot weather, a short maturation cycle and a large crop, the wine turned out beautifully. In 1997 the blend is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, a first for Opus One. (AG)" (06/2013)

This wine spends more than 30 months in 100% new oak, and, year in year out, has been one of the most singular and profound examples of Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033. (JD)" (06/2013)

2005 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 99VN, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Gérard Perse believes this is the greatest Pavie he’s made to date, although certainly I would argue that list includes the 2000, as well as the 2009 and 2010, among his superstars. This wine, which I had both in the 2005 horizontal report in the Wine Advocate, and at a mini-vertical with Perse at the restaurant Maison Boulud in Montreal, looks to be a 75- to 100-year wine. Dense, opaque purple to the rim, with a gorgeously promising nose of blackberries, cassis, graphite and cedar wood just beginning to emerge, it tastes more like a three-year-old than wine that is already a decade old. This beauty is intense and full-bodied, with magnificent concentration, a majestic mouthfeel and a total seamless integration of tannin, wood, alcohol, etc. Beautifully rich, full and multidimensional, this is a tour de force in winemaking and certainly one of the top dozen or so 2005 Bordeaux.

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97WE, 95VN, 94CG, 94RP, 93WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Tasted in October, 2007, the wine was mute, offering little aromatically except for teasing notes of blackberries and oak. That shyness extended to the taste, where strong, hard tannins provide an almost impenetrable coat of armor to what’s inside. But right down the middle of the palate is a deep, intensely powerful stream of perfectly ripened cassis that’s all the proof you need of ageability. This is a magnificently structured young wine, reminiscent of a fine young Pauillac. Best after 2012, and should have another decade after that, at least. *Best of 2008, Cellar Selection*" (02/2008)

Inky in color, with incredible kirsch, blackberry liqueur, flowers, licorice and hints of underlying meatiness, it hits the palate with a full-bodied, massively concentrated profile that has nothing out of place, seamless integration of its fruit, alcohol and tannin, and an overriding elegant, perfectly balanced feel. Drink it anytime over the coming three decades. Jean Louis’ two 2003 Hermitages should be on everyone’s bucket list of wines to try at least once (preferably more) in their life. Multidimensional nose of rose petal, redcurrant, plum, mocha, minerals and spices. Wonderfully silky and spicy, with lovely harmonious acidity giving it near-perfect balance. This struck me as distinctly Burgundian in style. Showing lovely fruit and perfume today, and perhaps deceptively drinkable. Finishes with sweet tannins and ineffable perfume. A blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Petite Sirah and 2% Viognier, all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it spent 40 months in 78% new French oak. 2011 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Chênes" (93BH, 92ST, 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "**Outstanding** This is more deeply pitched still with a gorgeously pure, elegant and ultra-pure nose of dark berries, cherry liqueur and plum. There is marvelous concentration to the overtly muscular and powerful large-scaled, intense and mouth coating flavors that exude a fine minerality on the austere, serious and explosively persistent finish. This is a big yet perfectly balanced effort that will likely require a full 12 years of cellar time as the supporting tannins are very firm. Arguably the Clos des Chênes of the vintage." (04/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 1988 Latour, Pauillac (96WS, 93VN, 91RP). Wine Spectator: "So minty, with loads of subtle ripe fruit and eucalyptus undertones. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. Caresses every inch of the palate. It's the quality of the tannins that's impressive here. What a great and beautiful wine. Should improve for many years to come. (JS, Web-2009)"

1986 Talbot, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Talbot, St-Julien (96RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A fabulous wine, and one of the two greatest Talbots of the last 50 years, this wine still has a very murky garnet/plum/purple color and a spectacular nose of sweet creme de cassis intermixed with freshly ground pepper, melted road tar, herbes de Provence, and beef blood. It is followed by an enormously concentrated wine of full body, layers of concentration and sweet tannin. The wine seems to be just hitting its plateau of maturity, where it should last for at least 10-15 more years. A prodigious Talbot. (RP)" (01/2003)

Of the 2013 Booker "Fracture" Paso Robles Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2013 Fracture is an utterly sensational blend of 100% Syrah, all from the estate Booker Vineyard, that exhibits off-the-chart notes of creme de cassis, crushed flowers, licorice, vanilla bean and toasted spice. Possessing perfect integration of its fruit, alcohol, tannin and acidity, it's full-bodied and incredibly seamless, with terrific concentration, a full, layered mid-palate and a blockbuster finish. Paso Robles Syrah at its finest, this incredible wine will benefit from a year or two in the cellar, yet thrill through 2025. 2011 Domaine Blain-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Blain-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (94BH, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is a bit more elegant but notably less exotic than the Criots with its spicy nose of ripe white peach, floral and citrus suffused aromas. There is relatively fine detail to the intense and broad-shouldered middle weight plus flavors that culminate in a seductive yet well-delineated, focused and beautifully well-balanced finish that is at once citrusy, agreeably dry and ever-so-mildly austere. This beauty should reward mid to even longer-term cellaring if desired." (06/2013)

James Suckling: "I must admit that I was a little unimpressed with the Ducru 2000 in the beginning when I tasted it after bottling in 2003. But it's clearly outstanding now and seems to get better and better with age. It shows wonderful aromas of roses and currants with hints of mint. It's full-bodied, moderately sweet and incredibly tannic, but there's amazing finesse and refinement to the texture, not to mention fabulous, concentrated aromas of raspberries, violets and other flowers. Perhaps the greatest Taylor ever, it's better than either the 1992 or the 1970, though it's very like the '70 in structure. Best after 2010. *Cellar Selection. 2000 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (96JS, 96RP, 95WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I find this to be a spectacular Pichon Lalande. Dense purple in color, with loads of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate notes, this is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and a whooping 10% Petit Verdot, with a little bit of Cabernet Franc. The Petit Verdot certainly gives the wine more of a tapenade, floral note, which I think can be interpreted by some as herbal. (RP)" (06/2010)

This is one of the most exciting young reds I have tasted in a long, long time. It shows intense aromas of berries, currants and minerals, with hints of mint. Full-bodied and packed with fruit and tannins, its long finish is refined and silky. A benchmark for the vintage. Las Cases has always wanted to make first-growth quality in a top-notch vintage, and it certainly did in 2000. Best after 2012. *Collectibles - Ranked #5 on Top 100 of 2003* (JS)" (03/2003)

The wine shows softly lush tannins and deep, complex flavors of red fruit, berry, licorice, cocoa and mineral that easily stand up to 100% new French oak. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (96RP, 94W&S, 94WE, 93JS, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 2000 tasting in London. This is a fantastic Cos d’Estournel that I was unsure about out of barrel, but is now blossoming with age. It is adorned with a lovely nose: blackberry, wild hedgerow, espresso, a touch of chocolate and sandalwood. Very fine definition and vigour. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins, superb symmetrical structure, dense, obdurate black fruits, a saline note, very well balanced, very focused, broadening out nicely towards the ravishing, supple finish. 2000 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (97RP, 95JS, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better. Perhaps the magnum format played its part, but nevertheless...just...wow. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer. It has an incredibly precise, mineral-driven bouquet with intense black fruit infused with cedar and graphite scents. It just reeks of Pauillac in an almost uncompromising, yet compelling manner. The palate is structured, stylish and effortless, extraordinarily pure and unerringly youthful. This is a Pichon Baron saying, 'You ain't seen nothing yet.' You could broach this now if you wanted, but the clever people will wisely bunker this for another decade and gloat from 2025 onward. (NM)" (07/2016)
