2005 Honig Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Honig's 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of fruit from Honig's own sustainably farmed vineyard in Rutherford and from local Napa vineyards. The vintage's long growing season allowed for plenty of hang time, resulting in a concentrated wine with balanced acids. On the nose it packs a one-two punch, with vibrant red fruit aromas followed by spice, vanilla and sweet tea. It is round on the palate, finishing with supple, cocoa powder tannins.

Adrien Camut 18 year old Privilege Calvados Pays d'Auge (750ml)

The spirit opens with baked apple aromas and then transitions into ripe red apples with some nutty notes from the extensive barrel aging. The Camut line of Calvados always show better with age, as the double distillation, while making them more neutral in their youth, frees the spirit from impurities that show with age. The palate is soft, rich and oozing with baking spice, intense earth and cooked pomme fruit. It is the top of the line for 15+ year old Calvados.

2000 St Clement "Oroppas" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

This oddly named meritage (70% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot and 7% cabernet franc) is anything but odd tasting. On the nose, look for ripe fruit aromas of raspberry, blackberry and cassis plus a little spice and vanilla. On the palate, a cornucopia of vivid fruit flavors with cassis and cherry predominating as well as cedar, star anise, nutmeg and even a bit of smoky bacon at the very end. Enjoyable now and equally age-worthy.

2004 Carbonnieux Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

90 points Robert Parker (06/07) Excellent vintage for white Bordeaux with fine balance of acid and fruit. A lovely nose, still showing a touch of oak, but with some appealing lanolin and toast notes coming through from the sémillon. Full and dry, fresh and nicely defined though not exactly laser-like in its precision. It has a nice, firm structure. Another winner from the Perrin family.
