2004 Vincent Girardin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Dark cherry, licorice, rose petal and wild herbs on the slightly medicinal nose. Supple, pliant and sweet, with an attractive juicy character to the redcurrant, licorice, floral and mineral flavors. Quite rich but with spine. The long finish offers excellent grip. (ST)" (3/2007) 88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is very grapey though with slightly better elegance to the earth-infused, expressive and generous dark berry fruit aromas and flavors that are nicely concentrated and underpinned by round and soft tannins. This is easy to like as it has a bit more finishin ...Read More »

1999 Domaine Alain Burguet Gevery-Chambertin "Mes Favorites" Vieilles Vignes

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Huge black fruit aromas, big rich structured flavors oozing Gevrey earth and uncommon character with an intriguing inner core of complexity and spice. The finish is long, intense and sweet. This is a great villages." (1/2002) 89-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Formerly known as Burguet's Vieilles Vignes cuvee, the ruby-colored 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites has a gorgeous nose of super-ripe plums and black cherries. It is an intense, juicy, medium to full-bodied wine, crammed with blueberries, cherries, and blackberries. This tangy, satin-textured offering has an impressively long, fo ...Read More »

2016 Schlossgut Diel Dorsheimer Goldloch Kabinett Riesling Nahe

92 points James Suckling: "An effusive mint and parsley nose. Sleek and super-racy with a ton of mineral freshness at the finish this would be a great partner for smoked ham and fish. Super-crisp finish! Drink or hold." (11/2017) 91 points Vinous: "Surprisingly, this is more restrained for now than its Schlossberg counterpart; it could well be – as Caroline Diel herself suggested – that slate soils have an advantage in 2016. There is a sense of stuffing entirely compatible with alcoholic levity, though this wine’s textural creaminess does not benefit from the contrasting brightness and generous juicin ...Read More »

Bapt & Clem 8 Year Old "Alcoholes Finos Dominicos" Dominican Rum Sauternes Finish (750ml)

The exceptional Savanna distillery has been notably unavailable on the American market despite accolades from across the rest of the world. The small distillery on the Island of Reunion is probably one of the most exciting things you can't get in this country. It's unique in that it's operated similar to the Agricole distilleries of the Caribbean, but distills rhums from both fresh cane and molasses.

2016 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Clavaillons"

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Clavoillons is reserved and rather aloof on the nose, although that is how we like our Puligny (don’t we?). There are some lovely touches of white peach and yellow flowers here. The palate is marked by a sour lemon note on the entry that complements the energy and concentration conveyed by this Clavoillons. This feels very harmonious with veins of stem ginger and white pepper creating a complex and quite compelling finish and represents one of the best wines from Alain Chavy this vintage. (NM)" (12/2017) Jancis Robinson: "Cask sample. ...Read More »

2009 Pol Roger Brut Rosé Champagne

92 points James Suckling: "I like the 2009 vintage for rosé. Here, it delivers a playfully fruit-fueled core of bold cherries and watermelon with some chalky moments on the palate. This has a very inviting attitude. Drink now." (9/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blending 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir red wine from the Montagne de Reims, Pol Roger's 2009 Vintage Brut Rosé displays an intense salmon/onion color and a rich, vinous bouquet of red berries and cherries that come along as ripe and dried fruit flavors. Full-bodied, round and dry, with very fine tannins giving a firm, refreshi ...Read More »

Kilchoman "Machir Bay" K&L Exclusive Bottling Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

It's no secret that we're big fans of Kilchoman distillery here at K&L. Our recent visit to the distillery on Islay really opened our eyes to the incredible job they're doing. Kilchoman is a tiny operation. A true farm distillery. But having tasted the new-make spirit right off the still, I can firmly say that, in my opinion, there is no higher quality peated whisky being produced anywhere else. Kilchoman's hands-on style and attention to detail make a world of difference. Every release has been better than the last, albeit extremely limited in supply. T... Read More »

2016 Smockshop (Hiyu) "Fionn" Columbia Valley Zinfandel

Winemaker's Notes: "Fionn is from the steepest part of the vineyard in the desert. This part of the site is planted to Zinfandel and filled with basalt cobbles. The vines are half the size of those on the lower part of the site. This was fermented in open top vats, whole cluster and tread by foot once a day. After three weeks it was pressed in a basket press directly to older barrels. The wine aged in the barrels for 14 months, on the lees, without any additions before being bottled by gravity. One would never guess that this was Zinfandel. More likely... Read More »

2015 Ignios Origenes Marmajuelo Ycoden-Daute-Isora (Tenerife)

Located in the Ycoden-Daute-Isora D.O on the western portion of the island of Tenerife, Ignios Origenes belongs to Borja Perez, an islander with a talent for vine growing and winemaking (as well as working on sports cars and fighting fires..) Marmajuelo is a grape with wonderful flavors, weight and freshness, maybe something that feels similar to Loire valley Chenin in this case? 2014 Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot"

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Firm reduction flattens the underlying fruit. By contrast there is excellent volume to the muscular medium-bodied flavors that possess an attractive sense of tension that adds lift to the opulent but not heavy finish where a hint of bitter lemon peel arises." (6/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This white reveals a racy profile yet remains open-knit, with moderate concentration to the butterscotch, white peach and apple flavors. Long, presenting echoes of mineral and oak spice. Drink now through 2022. (BS)" (5/2017)

1999 Domaine Georges Mugneret Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes"

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "While it's no surprise, this continues to be one knockout Chambolle as it's superbly elegant in every respect with its stylish pinot fruit, intense, sappy crushed red fruit flavors, medium weight yet very fine tannins and sneaky persistence. This is the essence of pinot finesse and is wonderfully seductive. While not especially dense or weighty, it is textbook Chambolle-Musigny in its remarkable purity of expression, laser-like precision and lacy transparency and offers good finishing richness. In short, this is drop dead gorgeous and highly recommended. ...Read More »

Bapt & Clem 7 Year Old Montifaud Cognac (750ml)

Marc Darroze formally joined his father’s artisan Armagnac firm in 1996 and soon thereafter took the helm. Over the next twenty years he developed close ties to farmers and producers in Armagnac and became intimately involved in distillation. In 2015 he decided to go forward with Bapt & Clem’s. With every spirit, the process was and is the same: Marc chooses one or two barrels (or makes a blend) from a distiller whom he has known for many years. The spirit has already been made and fully aged at its place of origin, and Marc’s choice, a deeply personal o... Read More »

After being rebuilt and modernized, the distillery launched a Rhum Museum. It's one of Guadeloupe's most popular tourist attractions, yet the distillery sells no rum in the United States other than this unique offering. Aromas of black raspberry, brown spices and musky chocolatey oak. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby-colored 1999 Maranges Clos Des Loyeres offers violet, candle wax, and sweet black fruit aromas. Medium-bodied, masculine, and extroverted, it is filled with loads of candied grapes, sweet cherries, and dark berries. This is a forward, in-your-face, lush, and softly textured wine. Complex, expressive aromas of ginger, chlorophyll, elderflower and lichee, plus suggestions of tropical fruits. Densely packed and firm-edged, delivering serious mineral tension but also a distinct thickness of texture. Finishes with serious building length. 1956 Very Old Fitzgerald (Stitzel-Weller Distillery) 8 Year Old Bonded Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml) (slight scuff on the next label)

Distilled entirely in 1956 and bottled in 1964, this bourbon comes from the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, which closed in 1991. This is one of the most historically important American whiskies on the market today. Finding a bottle is nearly impossible and quantities are extremely limited. This is the REAL Van Winkle whiskey, produced when Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle was actually running the distillery. 2007 Kosta Browne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (lighty soiled label)

93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This remarkably well-concentrated wine is endowed with black cherry fruit as its primary focus and adds in caramel and crème brûlée richness alongside hints of toffee and dried spices. It is full but not heavy on the palate and already exhibits the wonderfully lush texture of fine Pinot Noir. Deep and flavorful, open and quite accessible, structured for aging and able to be enjoyed today, this is a wine to be remembered. *Two Stars*" (7/2009) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, tight, elegant and understated, this offers fresh, vibrant flavors of black cherry, wild berry and raspberry. ...Read More »

1988 Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru

Praise from Robert Parker: "Paul Bouchard and his son Jean-Francois have begun to turn out their finest wines since the '40s and '50s. The wines are deeper-colored and noticeably more concentrated. All the premier crus and grand crus are bottled with minimal additions of SO2, and are not filtered. Consequently, as the notes and scores reveal, there has been a significant leap in quality. Kudos to Bouchard Pere et Fils for recognizing that improvements had to be made, and for having the courage to implement them." (12/1993)

2017 Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon

94 points James Suckling: "Some very stony and flinty aromas with graphite. Red and dark plums, too. Smells fresh and very complex already. The palate has great density and a fine, compressed tannin texture, as well as a very focused finish. Spiced black cherries and blackberries, cassis and dark chocolate to close. Short carbonic maceration and juice is racked off during the carbonic process. A captivatingly powerful but focused Morgon. No Côte du Puy due to the hail in 2017. Best from 2020." (2/2018)

2016 Domaine Giraud "Les Grenaches de Pierre" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Almost at the same quality level, yet very different in style, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenaches de Pierre is more classic as well as elegant. Awesome amounts of black raspberries, graphite, crushed rocks, violets, and spring flower notes emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfect balance, plenty of tannins, and a more fresh, focused, oh so pure style. It’s going to merit a triple-digit score in 4-5 years and keep for two decades. 98+" (8/2018) 98 points Wine Spectator: "Offers a gorgeous core, featuring flavors that show the distilled esse ...Read More »

2006 Bernard Dugat-Py Chambertin Grand Cru

94-97 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is an introverted wine at present with only the most reluctant of aromas emanating to reveal an equally floral nose of dried rose petal, violets and acacia plus spice, smoke, leather and earthy but cool and reserved red berry fruits that slide seamlessly into marvelously concentrated, textured and chewy big-boned flavors that possess a relatively accessible mid-palate but tighten up quickly on the monumentally long finish. This is much more structured than it seems as the extract almost completely buffers the very firm tannic spine. And like the Maz ...Read More »

Bold but focused blackberry, wild raspberry, smoke, petrol, and tar complexity. A winner, with its silky texture that endures through a long, balanced finish. *Top 100 Wines of 2000* (PM)" (10/2000) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. On the palate, this is a refreshing, piquant and vibrant Auslese made from perfectly selected grapes with 50% of botrytis. The wine is enormously vital and crisp, showing a very intense and long finish with tropical fruit aromas. Great aging potential and highly digestible. 2013 Produttori del Barbaresco "Pora" Barbaresco Riserva

94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is soft, pliant and enveloping. In many vintages, the Pora can be a bit light. Not in 2013. The wine is rich and deeply textured, with layers of fruit that continue to build with time in the glass. The tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. This is an especially powerful, brooding edition of the Pora. Although impressive today, the 2013 will drink well for decades to come." (10/2017)

The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, lightly honeyed fruit, not a complex Champs Gain but one endowed with nascent energy and there is a pleasant prickle of spice on the finish. The wine is marked just a touch by its stems, auguring well for an impressive blossoming down the road. There is very little tannin present, but this has good acids for the vintage that will allow the wine to cruise nicely for eight to ten years." (5/2002)
