2002 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Suchots"

I do not know which grower Nicolas works with in Suchot, but it is always one of my favorites. In fact, I have called his Gaudichots Suchot when tasting blind in the cellar. It was not intended as a slight on the Gaudichot, but as a compliment to the quality fo the Suchots. As is typical, this has more red fruit notes than the Beaumonts or Malconsorts, with finesse and elegance. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer)

2013 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Maltroie"

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pear and crushed stone on the mineral-driven nose. Not a fat or fleshy style but displays good energy and precision and an impression of sappy extract. Much less easygoing today than the last few premier crus, even a bit tart in the early going. Finishes classically dry, firm and long, with very good cut." (9/2014) 90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is compositionally similar to the Chassagne villages but is both a bit more elegant and more complex as well. I very much like the mouth feel of the energetic medium-bodied flavors that exhibit a hint of lemon zest on the bright, d ...Read More »

2012 E. Pira Chiara Boschis "Via Nuova" Barolo (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Vinous: "A wine of extraordinary precision, the 2012 Barolo Via Nuova possesses stunning vibrancy and energy. Dark cherry, cherry pit, blood orange, orange peel, exotic spice and mint are all laced together in a chiseled Barolo that bristles with energy. Addictively beautiful and inviting, the Via Nuova is endowed with a super-classic, mid-weight feel, knock-out aromatics and fabulous overall balance. The Via Nuova is a blend of six vineyards; Liste and Terlo (Barolo), two parcels in Mosconi (Monforte) and Gabutti and Baudana (Serralunga). Chiara Boschis has done ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis

91 points John Gilman: "Over the years, I have had some beautiful bottles of Chablis villages from Domaine Dauvissat, but the 2015 may well be the best yet! The wine jumps from the glass in a vibrant blend of lemon, apple, pink grapefruit, superb minerality, beeswax and a topnote of white lilies. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very racy in personality (particularly for a 2015!), with a fine core, superb backend minerality and a long, zesty finish that is already showing the first hints of the candied lemon peel that will arrive with bottle age. This is pr ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Leflaive Puligny Montrachet A.C

90-93 points Wine Spectator: "No tasting note given." (2/2017) 92 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Puligny villages from the domaine is really excellent and reminds me very much of the 1992 version in its youth. The bouquet is pure, complex and very expressive, wafting from the glass in a blend of pear, delicious apple, spring flowers, a touch of crème patissière and a fine base of chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with a fine core, bright, zesty acids and lovely cut and mineral drive on the long and classy finish. Just a delicious bottle. 2016-2035. ...Read More »

2014 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Petite Chablis

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A cool, pure and airy nose is comprised of white orchard fruit and ample Chablis elements. There is good richness to the notably round and delicious flavors that possess a lovely sense of vibrancy on the dry but not austere finale. This should drink well young but reward a few years of cellar time as well." (10/2015) Vinous: "Pale yellow-green color. Cool aromas of green apple and menthol. Bright, intense and penetrating, with bracing lemony acidity giving this upright wine a youthful austerity. Very promising, and an outperformer for its appellation, as in virtual ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Louis Jadot Chamblle-Musigny 1er Cru "Fuées"

96 points James Suckling: "This is a special climat that has real tension and energy. Aromas of violets, citrus and red cherries with density and cut to the tannins. It delivers exuberant red cherries. Really long and assertive finish. This is really a rock-star Chambolle! Try from 2022." (2/2018) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As is usually the case this is both more aromatically elegant and slightly more restrained with its cool collection of red and dark currant, lilac, plum and wet stone where an interesting hint of mandarin orange shows up. 2015 Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Richebourg Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from a .55 ha parcel). In much the same fashion as the Clos de Vougeot this is inexpressive to the point of being almost mute and it requires considerable agitation to coax the intensely floral-suffused aromas of spicy tea and dark berries to appear. There is stunningly good power and intensity to the very, make that very, very, backward broad-shouldered flavors that brim with both buckets of dry extract and an almost pungent minerality on the precise, dusty and massively long finish. I appreciate that I sometimes probably sound like a broken record wit ...Read More »

2015 Thibault Liger-Belair Corton Grand Cru "Les Renardes" (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru is the second year that Thibault has used whole bunch fruit in order to maintain the freshness. He describes this as an "intellectual wine" because every time you come back to it, the flavors are different. It works nicely on the nose: well defined, vibrant, bright and lively with lifted blackberry and raspberry scents mixed with wet limestone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy structure on the entry. There is a mixture here of red and black fruit, a savory element coming through with a dash of brown spic ...Read More »

2004 Domaine Bouchard Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Cailles"

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is much better integration of the wood with a beguiling mix of red and black earthy fruit aromas that complement perfectly the exceptionally rich and full flavors that are quite dense and mineral-infused if perhaps not quite as precise yet the explosive finish just goes on and on. A stunner of a wine." (4/2006) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Enticing aromas of redcurrant, musky chocolate, white pepper and sexy oak. Sweet but sharply delineated and tightly coiled, with lovely energy to the tangy fruit, pepper and spice flavors. Conveys an impression of weightlessness an ...Read More »

2014 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage Rouge

96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Both the Pavillon and l’Ermite see a touch more new oak, with the wine aged 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels. The 2014 Ermitage le Pavillon will without a doubt be one of the top two to three wines in the vintage; it offers an incredibly granite character in its burning embers, graphite, crème de cassis and campfire-like bouquet. Big, concentrated, full-bodied, thick and yet still with the always present hedonistic slant of this cuvee, it will need 4-5 years of cellaring and have three or more decades of longevity. 1962 Cossart Gordon Bual Vintage Madeira

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Just delicious. This wine has an elasticity to its tannins that makes it as texturally fascinating as it is rich in flavor. It glows with an inner warmth, emanating flavors of wildflower honey, strawberries, golden citrus, toast and cream, and buzzes with energy, giving no hint that it is a 50-year-old wine. Compellingly drinkable on its own, it could also pair with a range of foods, starting with a shrimp and lobster bisque." 2015 Domaine de la Janasse Cotes-du-Rhone "Les Garrigues"

Its ruby color is followed by terrific notes of spice, incense, orange rind and ripe cherries. Finesse drive, elegant, perfumed and complex, this nuanced, medium-bodied beauty is about as seamless and elegant as you're going to get in a Côtes du Rhône." 2016 Domaine de la Janasse Cotes-du-Rhone Blanc

(8/2017) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A year fresher, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Blanc is crisper and more linear than the 2015 but shows similar orange and lime flavors, with a hint of anise as well. It should be consumed over the next year or two.(JC)" (10/2017) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Bright verbena, green fig, pear and yellow apple notes are all in the mix here, with light lemon shortbread and salted butter accents gilding the finish. 2015 Domaine Michel Niellon 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet "Clos Saint Jean"

93 points Wine Spectator: "This is plush and laced with peach, apple, oak spice and mineral flavors. Vibrant acidity keeps this focused as the elements play out on the long, green olive–, mineral- and spice-tinged finish. Best from 2020 through 2026." (11/2017) 89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean, like the Champs Gain, was sampled directly from vat and showed the same reduction on the nose. 2014 Thierry Allemand "Chaillot" Cornas (1.5L)

Tannins are finely detailed and elegantly stated. The finish is powerfully succulent. Drink 2020 and beyond." (9/2017) 93-95 points Vinous: "Vivid purple. 2014 De Martino "Legado" Carmenere Maipo Valley

De Martino has arguably undergone one of the more radical transformations the wine world has seen in the past five years. The second largest owner of organic vineyards in Chile, with 740 acres in production, De Martino is stepping up to the plate in other ways as well: the winery is 100% carbon neutral and beginning in 2011 they have stopped purchasing new oak barrels. That year they purchased 140 tinajas, the traditional Chilean clay vessels that resemble amphorae, in varying shapes and sizes. They also invested in 5000l Austrian (Stockinger) foudres an... 2007 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru(1.5L)

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't Miss!* As it usually does, this offers another level of aromatic complexity with a highly spiced nose trimmed in a subtle touch of wood that does not interfere with the overall transparency of either the nose or the palate as this is pure, classy and refined. Moreover, the tannins are also more refined, which is unusual, and this completely stains the palate on the hugely long finish. A balanced, stylish and beguiling Bèze that is built to age, and improve, for up to two decades. Drink: 2022+" (4/2009) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red. 2016 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

2016 Domaine Weinbach Altenbourg Pinot Gris Alsace

From the Altenbourg vineyard (located directly below the Grand Cru Furstentum), this cuvée is picked in a later harvest with significant botrytis presence. It shows great aromatic complexity, depth, richness, and power, always with balance. The wine is rich and round with an average residual sugar level of 30 g/L. A honeyed nose, but no noticeable botrytis is present. Sweet raisins and brown sugar dominate on the palate. It is full of perfumed fruit and has a luscious, oily texture... very racy too. The palate is extremely well balanced, tightly wound at first with outstanding spiciness and mineralité, fanning out wonderfully with a quite compelling finish that lingers in the mouth.
