2016 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er Cru "Champlots"

Vinous: "Bright yellow-green. Aromas of nectarine, white pepper and herbs. Juicy, clean, smaller-scaled wine with a fine-grained texture and good energy. Spice and mineral flavors carry through to a perfumed finish featuring sneaky length. The crop here was barely one-quarter of normal, according to Colin, who added that his yields in Saint-Aubin ranged from 11 to 15 hectoliters per hectare in 2016. (ST)" (9/2017) K&L Notes: Jasper Morris (MW): "Pale lemon, full bouquet with some lemon fruit too, the fruit is weighty more than fine on the palate, and this stops a little short... Read More »

2015 Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet Grand Cru Bienvenues Batard Montrachet

Bachelet-Ramonet is one of the suppliers to Etienne Sauzet, now that they are acting as a negociant. Since Alain Bonnefond took over, he has been gradually reducing yields, and the effect is being seen in the amount of concentration in the wines. He bulks out 1/2 of his production, keeping favorite barrels to release under the Domaine label.

2015 Domaine Henri Gouges 1er Cru Nuits-St-Georges "La Perriere" Blanc

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a hint of the exotic present on the ripe pear and essence of apple-scented nose. The exceptionally rich, generous and fleshy flavors possess better volume and notably better complexity on the lingering and reasonably well-balanced finale. This isn't a classic vintage for this wine but it is not without appeal." (6/2017) Decanter: "A rarity: Pinot Blanc in Nuits-St-Georges. It has a very attractive, vibrant nose of pears and white pepper. Fine attack on the palate, almost racy. It has a juicy and rounded character and is already accessible, and has a fine aci ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Francois Carillon Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Champs Gains"

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here there is only a whisper of reduction and much more easily allows the softly exotic white orchard fruit, spice and white floral notes to be evaluated. The textured, rich and very rounded flavors possess slightly better zip on the moderately dry and persistent finish." (6/2017) 90 points Decanter: "The thin soils of Les Champs Gains seem to have coped with the warm, dry conditions well in 2015. Notes of green apple, confit citrus and crème pâtissière precede a fresh, full-bodied and deep palate with nice minerality on the finish.Drinking Window 2018 - 2033. 2014 Domaine Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Champs Gain"

88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gains comes from two parcels on shallow 20-centimeter stony soil. It is tighter on the nose than the Puligny-Charmes when I tasted it from barrel and I suspect it will require longer bottle age. The palate is elegant on the entry, that leitmotif of bitter lemon coming through, good density with a brisk finish that will hopefully develop more persistency as it matures in bottle. There is elegance here, but it will need time to show. Alain Chavy told me that he picked his 2014s between and September 12-17, sheat ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Christian Moreau "Valmur" Chablis Grand Cru

93 points John Gilman: "The Moreau holdings in Valmur are older vines than their parcel in Vaudésir, and the wine is a small step up in quality in 2015. The bouquet has a nice touch of reserve to it out of the blocks, delivering scents of lemon, apple, chalky minerality, fruit blossoms, beeswax and just a touch of vanillin oak (this too is fifty percent barrel-fermented). On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and shows a fine girdle of acidity, with a rock solid core, fine focus and grip, excellent balance and a long, complex and very promising finish. This could do ...Read More »

2016 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Petite Chablis (Pre-Arrival)

90 points John Gilman: "With fully two-thirds of a normal crop wiped out here by the frosts on April 27th, it is not too surprising that the resulting wine is truly exceptional in quality. This is not a wine that is overly concentrated, as is the case with some severely frosted whites in 2016, but a wine of great precision, depth of fruit and mineral drive. The bouquet is superb, offering up scents of pear, apple, chalky minerality, beeswax and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, long and zesty, with a rock solid core, lovely focus and grip ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "Séchet"

92 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Séchet from Vincent Dauvissat is also excellent this year. The bouquet is bright nascently complex and quite expressive, wafting from the glass in a mix of pear, orange zest, paraffin, chalky minerality, just a touch of grapefruit and spring flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, complex and simply rock solid at the core, with superb backend cut and grip. Excellent juice. 2014 Simmonet-Febvre Chablis Grand Cru "Les Clos"

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The grandest of the Chablis Grand Crus has produced a structured, still very young, wine. With its ripe apple and Bartlett pear fruit and tight, chalky mineral texture, it will be impressive once it unwinds. Drink from 2020." (6/2017) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Tightly knit and expressive, delivering apple, melon, honey and mineral flavors, this white is fresh and long, with a detailed aftertaste of apple and mineral. Drink now through 2022." Very concentrated, youthful and balanced, boasting a lovely mineral/acid spine that's already in harmony with the wine's dense, sweet fruit. Finishes firm and lightly phenolic but not bitter, with excellent saline, iodiney grip and terrific subtle, sappy length. A very good, classic village wine in the making.(ST)" (8/2017) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and appealingly layered nose brings together notes of pear, apple, lemon zest and just enough Chablis typicity to be convincing. 2015 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny"

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Meursault -Blagny 1er Cru has a crisp bouquet with scents of dried honey, hazelnut and smoke, demonstrating more delineation and drive compared to the Puligny Champs-Gain. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a fine line of acidity. I appreciate here the saline undertow of this wine and the energy conveyed towards the finish. The persistence feels long but tender, completing one of the domaine's best wines this vintage. This would be my pick from Jobard this year. The attractively textured and very generous medium weight flavors possess good dry extract levels and a light minerality on the palate coating, intense and solidly persistent finish. Among all of these 2015s this is the most obviously mineral-driven of them." (10/2016) 90 points Vinous: "(bottled in April of this year): Bright light yellow. Very long, phenolic drive. Impressive. Drink or hold until 2025." (2/2018) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a composed, citrus peel, granitic bouquet that feels a little "cooler" than others that I have encountered, the altitude and clay soils lending this the reserve to counterbalance the precocity of the growing season. The palate is well balanced with pleasing acidity, tightly-wound ...Read More »

2015 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Referts"

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate reduction pushes the underlying fruit to the background at present. By contrast there is good verve to the opulent, even lavishly rich, flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract on the notably more complex and vibrant finale. This beauty is quite refreshing thanks to a hint of backend salinity." (6/2017) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts comes from relatively clayey soils that are cooler and keep the acidity in the wine. More open-knit than the village wine, perhaps due to the fact that there was less frost damage here. Conveys a captivating sweetness to its apple, peach and pear flavors. Underneath the reduction is a wine that is full, focused and quite racy for the vintage, with fine backend minerality and very good grip. I am sure that this will be a very good example, but it was impossible to take a precise note at the time. (Drink between 2016-2035)" (11/2016) 91 points Vinous: "Pale, bright yellow. There is excellent power, size and muscle to the caressing yet quite serious big-bodied flavors that exhibit fine length and complexity if not the refinement of the best of these 1ers." (6/2016) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Meursault 1er Cru les Poruzots from Domaine du Château de Puligny-Montrachet was showing some SO2 issues that erased some of the delineation but one can tell there is real intensity locked into this wine. It almost reluctantly offers up citrus fruit, walnut, smoke and faint oyster shell aromas, the latter becoming more conspicuous with aeration. The palate is understated on the entry with just a dash of lemongrass, but then there is a wave of lemon curd, Chinese five spice and ginger notes that seem to flood across the senses. Distinctly ripe, buttery aromas of soft citrus and tropical fruits show a slightly exotic character. Thick, creamy-sweet and highly concentrated but given shape by ripe, harmonious acidity.
