1988 Chateau de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 1988 is extremely rich and full-bodied. It offers a bouquet reminiscent of super ripe black plums intertwined with aromas of toasty new oak, licorice, and violets. Full-bodied, broodingly dense and tannic, this is a wine made more in the style of a Bordeaux than a Chateauneuf du Pape. Anticipated maturity: now-2008. Last tasted 12/95.
Delicate and fresh, with modestly firm tannins. Has black cherry and berry aromas, plum, berry and cherry flavors and a fresh finish. Medium in body and tannins.--Châteauneuf-du-Pape retrospective.
