2007 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Bright dark red. Complex, lively aromas of cherry, licorice, chocolate, tobacco leaf and spices. A juicy, spicy midweight with excellent tension and finesse to its youthfully imploded fruit, spice and chocolatey oak flavors. A very successful offering from Silver Oak, finishing with substantial dusty tannins, noteworthy length and a light touch. Aged for a full two years in 100% new American oak, but the oak element is not at all overbearing.
Lots of nice blackberry, cassis, plum and new oak flavors in this dry, tannic Cabernet. It hews to an old-fashioned style, with an earthiness that suggests time in the cellar. Try after 2014.
2007 is a classic vintage for Napa Valley Cabernet. Wine Spectator rated the overall vintage 99 points! The only other vintage to ever receive a near perfect score was the legendary 1997 vintage. In addition to the Wine Spectator's assessment of '07, Robert Parker has rated the 2007 vintage higher than the legendary 1997 vintage for California. Here's another opportunity to collect a professionally stored Silver Oak Napa Valley from the '07 bottling. If you want to round out your Napa Cab collection, or you'd like to pick up one of most frequently requested luxury gift items we sell each year, it would be wise to act quickly while this remains available.
