2000 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
A well-ripened, opulent wine; it’s huge in blackcurrant and cassis flavors and elaborate oak. You can taste the barrels in the smoke, vanilla and spicy flavors. Acidity hasn’t been integrated yet, nor have the dusty tannins. It’s really good now, but is best left to soften and integrate through 2008.

Good saturated ruby. Highly complex aromas of black cherry, cassis, black licorice, dark chocolate, espresso, leather, meat and cola. Powerful, dense and rich, with deep sweetness and a strong chocolatey flavor. Finishes with huge, broad tannins that reach the front teeth but also superb middle-palate fat and persistence, especially for the vintage. I underestimated this last year.
An impressive showing, this very complex, trim and balanced wine displays ripe currant, spice, loamy earth and black licorice flavors, with refined tannins. (Web-2011)
