Quinta do Noval 10-year-old Tawny Port
The legendary Noval has produced a deliciously attractive, light and poised wine, with fresh fruit and acidity. It is dry in style, with some tannins, and a layer of spirit that is well in balance. The aftertaste floats with acidity and fruit.
Concentrated flavors of dried pear, apricot, cherry and spice combine into this seamless package. The finish features toffee and orange zest notes, with hints of smoke.
Vigorous quite deep tawny colour with easy rose petal aromas and something rather malty about it. A serious tawny, even if there is - as one would expect from the price difference - a big gap between this and the Noval Colheita 1997. You could drink and love this at almost any temperature - with solid matter from sweet things to, especially, cheese. 17/20 points.
