Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage Champagne

SKU #1042345 92 points Wine Spectator

Lightly toasty and set on a fine, satiny texture, this vibrant, deep-hued rosé layers rich accents of toasted brioche and roasted walnut with lively flavors of raspberry puree, wild cherry, blood orange zest and ginger. Drink now through 2020. (11/2014)

91 points Antonio Galloni

Dark, lurid pink--almost red, actually. Ripe red berries, cherry pit and tangerine on the deeply scented nose and in the mouth. In a plush, open-knit style, but with dusty mineral and bitter quinine notes adding back-end cut and grip. Rich yet dry and taut, finishing with very good thrust and echoing minerality. (JR) (1/2015)

91 points Connoisseurs Guide

'Wild rose, indeed.' From its dark orange color to its too evident finishing tannins, this one runs outside the lines of expectations, but, in so doing, it carves its own path. Its aromas remind very much of toasted brioche in first impression and then add in tart cranberry notes that are equal parts vinosity and austerity. And, the yin and yang of excess and tight and typical construction just keep on coming. Acid and tannin conspire to rough up the finish, but here again, the wine delivers enough depth and conviction that it rises above the norm rather than insulting it. In the end, this is a love-it-or-hate it version of Rosé, and its high rating still leaves it as one for lovers of the style. (12/2014)

90 points Wine & Spirits

A powerful, red-fruited Champagne, this needs air to get past its initially rustic feel. As the alcohol and tannins integrate into the wine, it takes on a vinous character with exotic scents of Asian spice and hibiscus. Pour it with tea-smoked duck. (12/2014)

Wine Enthusiast

Very dry, this has almost no dosage, but it delivers great fruitiness, a crisp and steely structure and lively acidity. Red fruits dominate this fresh and lively wine that is ready to drink. (12/2014)
