2011 Clarke (Baronne Edmond de Rothschild), Listrac (Previously $25)
Deep crimson. Dusty blackcurrant fruit. Juicy, fresh, straightforward. Lightish, savoury rather than sweet. Moderate tannins, well handled. Not terribly long but harmonious with a dry finish. Drink 2016-2024.
I like the spicy, hazelnut and berry character here. It’s a little lean but shows pretty fruit and refined tannins. Needs one to two years of bottle age to soften: try in 2016.
Focused, with sleek tannins framing the core of crushed plum and steeped cherry fruit. Reveals a lingering iron echo on the finish. (Web Only-2014)
This wine consists of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet sauvignon, aged from 14 to 18 months in oak, 60% to 100% of the barrels renewed each year. There is a wonderful aromatic complexity leading to the palate that picks up weight and intensity on the long finish. Very good 2011 Bordeaux red.
