1992 Clynelish K&L Exclusive 21 Year Old Cadenhead Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (750ml)

SKU #1193928

We found this amazing cask after one of the most legendary power tasting sessions I've ever attended. Having shown up to Mark Watts home office after a long day of tasting at Signatory, we sat down in his living room and ask where the samples were. Mark sort of smirked and pointed to the table across from us. He was staring at the massive pile of bottles that lay strewn around the space. Maybe 200 plus samples from various distilleries. Clearly Cadenhead has a lot of stock. Anyway, we weeded through the offerings and fell in love with this Clynelish and an older Tormor, which turned out to be WAY too expensive. When we got stateside we were sure that the blue chip Clynelish would be over-the-top expensive. We were wrong. We were very wrong. This is classic naked Clynelish at its finest. It's not a big whisky, but it's a long one. It's one of these that tastes like it is from a different era. A total throwback malt. Grab one or not, whatever, I'll drink it if you don't want it. This is a fantastic expression of the Clynelish distillery! A sweet, almost candied-flower nose and flavor begins the experience in the glass, leaving a big, oily impression on the tongue. This is bright Highland whisky with a noticeably spicy finish.

A real find for Clynelish fans. There is an inticing noise that is complex with floral hints. In the mouth it has a bees wax fell with lively subtle malt flaovrs. This Clynelish offers so much it is a single malt to savoir and think about.

I truly find this whisky utterly wild. I'm a big time sucker for Clynelish because well, it's almost always delicious and right in my preferred style range. It's not because it tends to have the most powerful bouquet or the most intense flavors, but instead because they're is so little out there that tastes quite like it. Classic Clynelish on display here, not obfuscated by sherry or too much oak. The nose is subtle but massively complex, showing candied green apples (not quite jolly rancher), light herbal aromas, and an underlying creaminess that kind of reminds me of cake frosting. The palate shows a bright lifted sweetness that is completely balanced even at full strength. With water this gets a bit steely. Bring in more powerful aromas almost reminding me of the best Alsatian Riesling. More orange peel and pepper. A stunningly easy yet complex drink.
