2011 Saint Cosme "Little James' Basket Press" Vin de Pays d'Oc Blanc

SKU #1094273 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Under the Saint-Cosme label, a new offering, the 2011 Little James Blanc, is made from Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Sec and Viognier. It reminds me of a French version of the marvelous Botani Dry Muscat from Malaga, Spain. It offers a fragrant bouquet of spring flowers, dry, crisp, light-bodied flavors, and a fresh personality. Enjoy this impressive white wine over the next 12 months. (10/2012)

K&L Notes

This little non-vintage gem from Louis Barroul of Château Saint-Cosme is the perfect summer wine. A blend of Viognier, Sauvignon and Muscat d'Alexandrie, this explodes on the nose and is fresh and fruit-filled on the palate, with notes of citrus, melons and white flowers. Great with funky cheeses, morels and, believe or not--asparagus! Quoting Robert Parker: "Louis Barruol has been at the top of his game since the late 1990s, and over the last few vintages, he has been making some of the finest wines in the southern Rhone as well as France." (10/2012) 13% abv.

Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
