2010 Ameztoi "Rubentis" Rosé Getariako Txakolina

SKU #1067531

90 points Robert Parker: "The 2010 Ametzoi Rubentis Txakoli is light pink in color with attractive aromas of rose petal and strawberry. Crisp and surprisingly concentrated, this nicely proportioned effort will provide enjoyment over the next 12-18 months." (06/11) Ameztoi produces some of the tastiest, most representative and classic txakoli: the delicious, bright, slightly petillant (fizzy), low alcohol wines which are consumed like water in Spanish Euskadi (Basque Country). Vineyards are a stone's throw from the ocean, full of verdant, green cover throughout the year. This rosé is super limited, with something of a cult following in the Bay Area, New York City and beyond. Get some before it disappears. Yes, it's every bit as delicious as you have heard. Some white wine grapes (hondarribi zuri) are fermented and then blended in with the red grapes (hondarribi beltza), which explains the precise flavors and beautiful pale pink color.

My my my my my my my....from 150+ year old vines? Wah...This silly little wine is one of MY favorite things to bring out with me this summer. Not expensive, but showing so much new and fun stuff that it always turns heads. The nose is wild raspberry and intense plant aromas (the smell of a fresh forest or a bushel of nettles). The palate is like hibiscus extract and chewable rocks.

This is the first rose that we sell out of every year! How can you resist? It's Txakolina! It's Pink! It is too darn good. An open bottle is a soon to be empty bottle.

It's rosé time, and the one that I have been waiting for is this one from Ameztoi. Not just 'cause I've been to the winery. And not just 'cause when I was there they grabbed some fish out of the ocean, grilled it and served it with this. But 'cause it was such a wonderful combination!

This rose is so easy and such a joy to drink . It is light, has a low alcohol (10.5%)content, and is packed full of soft and light berry flavors. The Ameztoi Rugentis Rose has a nice pink color, and a slight crisp sparkle(very very small bubbles)that is refreshing.
