2005 Pago de los Capellanes Crianza Ribera Del Duero

SKU #1044544

91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Crianza is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak. Slightly deeper in color, it has a fragrant nose of smoke, pencil lead, vanilla, espresso, and blackberry jam. Medium bodied, dense, and structured, the wine has layers of spicy black fruit and enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. Long and pure in the finish, it will drink well through 2015." (Feb. 2008) From Wine Enthusiast: "Youthful and bouncy right from the get-go. The nose is bright and fruity, with no boundaries to its verve. Lively in the mouth as well, with fresh, forward berry and cherry flavors. A little racy and juvenile, but with lots of high-quality fruit and some aging potential. Drink now through 2011." (11/15/2008) From Wine Spectator: "Cranberry and currant flavors are backed by toast and light herbal flavors in this lively red, which has firm tannins but stays fresh through the finish. Drink now through 2013." (Web Only, 2008) From Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Ripe cherry and plum aromas show a warm, lightly roasted character. Round, mouthfilling cherry compote and red plum jam flavors are soft and rich, with gentle tannins adding grip. A bit loose-knit for my taste, but this possesses undeniable richness, and it's not overly heavy." (Jul/Aug '08)
