2001 Tenuta Sette Ponti "Oreno"
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2001 Oreno is simply a great wine. An inky ruby with purple highlights, intensely expansive and sweet on a fruit-rich nose which is loaded with smoky tar and graphite notes, it is packed and powerful on the palate with a density and concentration which are cunningly concealed by the plush and caressing texture, the superb balance and exceptional length of the finish and aftertaste. *Ranked #10, Top 100 Wines of 2003, Highly Recommended* Dark, with fantastic aromas of currant, blackberry, spice and lightly toasty oak. Full-bodied, with very well-integrated tannins and a texture as fine as the best cashmere from Scotland. Superb. Needs time in the bottle to show its full potential. One of the new hot wines of Tuscany.
