2004 Mauritson Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1034467

The Mauritson family have been growing grapes in the Dry Creek Valley for more than 140 years, but they only started making wine commercially back in 1996, when son Clay returned from college at the University of Oregon. Still under the radar for most everything (they're best known for zins), their 2005 Sonoma County Cab is a boutique gem. Made from Dry Creek, Aledander Valley and Rockpile fruit, this wine is definitely a sum of its parts. Each vineyard contributes its unique characteristics to the blend—the nose is pure Dry Creek: bright fruit with hints of mineral, while the mid-palate shows of Alexander Valley, with its signature chalky, dusty tannins, lush mouthfeel and ripe red fruit. The Rockpile cab ties everything together, with discernable fruit from start to finish. Fine-grained tannins compliment the wine's structure and give it a backbone that will allow it to age gracefully for the next 7-10 years.
