2019 Domaine Cherrier Père & Fils Sancerre
Top Pick!
Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then, four generations of the family have run the estate. The estate has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky mineral and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

From one of Clyde's old friends, and from certified organic vineyards in the Redwood Valley AVA of Mendocino County, the Chance Creek Sauvignon Blanc is an intense expression of terroir. Grown in the rocky benchlands of Mendocino County with southwest exposure, this bottling incorporates 4% Viognier to endow the wine with an added spicy allure. It was aged in 2% new French oak before bottling. The Chance Creek vineyard site, originally planted to Palomino grapes used in the production of California sherry, was purchased by Lou Bock in 1979. He soon re...

2018 Domaine André Vatan "Les Charmes" Sancerre
Back In Stock!
André Vatan has been at the helm of this small family domaine in the Sancerre appellation since 1988, when his father unexpectedly passed away. He's had plenty of time to put his stamp on things since then, from the meticulously aligned vineyards to the carefully controlled yields to the tidy cellars where he makes his wines. All of this care and consideration has resulted in stunning Sancerres, like this Les Charmes. Most of the fruit is grown in silex, a flinty, limestone-free soil that gives the fruit powerful, exotic, perfumed character. But there's ...

Jancis Robinson: "An unusual Marlborough Sauvignon. Wild yeast. A quarter was fermented in oak and the blend, from two vineyards, includes 7% Sémillon. With this wine we're halfway between Marlborough and Léognan in Bordeaux. Broad, tangy with some lanolin and lots of green notes. Very juicy and refreshing but with much more depth than the average Marlborough Sauvignon. Very vibrant. Oak is far from obvious except for the extra texture. (JR)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: One of the most serious, complex and authentically made NZ Sauv Blancs on our shelves. Cer...

Medium-bodied, the palate has plenty of citrusy zest on offer with a racy backbone and chalky finish. (LPB)" (11/2019)

Last year’s best-selling Sauvignon is back. The 2019 Momo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough is completely organic and focused on fruit from areas surrounding Wairau, the heart of Marlborough. This is the best rendition of this wine I have seen yet, displaying bright expressions of passion fruit, citrus, and crisp herbaceous notes. The palate is full and fresh, with weight and texture that make it much more serious than its price. (Thomas Smith, K&L New Zealand wine buyer) Winemakers notes: "A classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc displaying a vibrant nose with...

Wine Spectator: "Pear, apple and citrus flavors are fresh and light on a crisp frame, finishing with a note of Key lime. (MW, Web Only-2020)" K&L Notes: It isn't often that a winery's SRP, or "suggested retail price," is about the same as the great prices that we can offer, or in the case of bigger brands, elsewhere in the retail market. Often, they're a good $5 higher at the winery. But Husch lists their 2018 Sauvignon Blanc for just $15. That's just the kind of winery they are. Still family-owned in Mendocino's Anderson Valley, Husch has been produci...

Pascal Gitton is the current scion at the helm of Domaine Gitton. The estate began life as a 1.5-hectare parcel near Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre that his grandmother farmed in addition to running a bistro and épicerie. From these beginnings, the total of the family’s various holdings is now close to 33 hectares. They specialize in silex (flint) soils which make up about 50% of their total holdings. Les Fredins is all from said silex showing the vibrancy that soil imparts. Notes of citrus, gooseberry and crackling minerality define the rich palate.

From the Wagner wine family. About this wine: "Inspired by the idea that less is more, this wine is more minerality-driven than fruit-driven.
