2014 Bodegas Casa Juan Señor de Lesmos Reserva Rioja
Top Pick!
James Suckling: "A brambly array of violet and cassis aromas with a wealth of succulent, juicy and sappy berry flavors. Slightly rustic edge to the finish." (07/2019) K&L Notes: Composed of the same grapes in the same percentages as the Crianza, the Reserva is a barrel selection of wines that Angel feels can undergo longer aging in barrel and then in bottle. Aged a total of 27 months in barrels, then into concrete for more than a year, the Reserva also sees bottle aging until Angel deems it ready for release. This wine ramps up the intensity of the Cri...

2014 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino
Back In Stock!
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this radiant, full-bodied red opens with enticing scents of ripe black-skinned fruit, iris, cake spice and a whiff of camphor. On the linear yet delicious palate, elegant tannins and bright acidity support succulent black cherry, plum and licorice before a lingering tobacco finish. Drink 2021–2029. *Editors' Choice* (KO)" (05/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "There’s a handy array of quite ripe red-berry and cherry aromas here that lead to a palate that has attractive red cherries with soft, ...

2014 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Top Pick!
94 points James Suckling: "Very aromatic and chalky on the nose with blackberries and blackcurrants. Licorice, too. Full to medium body, savory and chewy tannins, yet this always remains polished with a long and pretty finish. Drink in 2020, but hard not to drink now." (02/2017) 94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barde-Haut has turned out beautifully. Dark cherry, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco flesh out in the glass. Effortless, supple and nicely layered, the 2014 hits all the right notes. The midweight style of the year comes through very nicely in this ...

Their Brunello di Montalcino production is usually about 450 cases to 500 cases and about half of that number for the Rosso di Montalcino. The Brunello is aged in 25hl Slavonian oak barrels and the Rosso di Montalcino is aged in stainless steel tanks.

2014 La Source du Ruault "Clos de la Côte" Saumur-Champigny Rouge
Top Pick!
"I first met vigneron Jean-Noël Millon while attending an organic wine fair in the South of France. The wines were impressive, so we arranged to meet on my trip through the Loire a couple of months later. A visit to the winery led to a trip through the ancient cellar, which had been carved from the chalky stone below (known as tuffeau) two centuries before. As we progressed from chamber to chamber, it began to feel more like a spelunking expedition. Ancient coins were pressed into the walls by past workers, the old wine press was still intact, even the o...

93 points James Suckling: "Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end." (02/2017) 91-93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Barrel Sample. Fruit forward, this wine shows ripe blackberries and dark plums on the palate. It exudes a richness that is contrasted by intense acidity and lifted fruit flavors. (RV)" (04/2015) 92 points Vinous: "Just as expressive from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2014 Tr...

94 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Corton “Rognet” is really superb this year, offering up a deep and nascently complex nose of red and black cherries, bonfires, coffee, stony soil tones, venison and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure on the attack and nicely structured, with a fine core of fruit, lovely focus and grip and a long, ripely tannic and quite soil-driven finish. Classic young Corton. (Drink between 2025-2075)" (04/2016) 93 points Vinous: "The 2016 Corton Grand Cru is comparatively deep in colour....

2014 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The nose is initially shy but eventually reveals wild berry, crushed aromatic herb and a whiff of rose petal. The elegant vibrant palate delivers juicy Morello cherry, baking spice and a hint of star anise accompanied by polished tannins and racy acidity. (KO)" (05/2019) Jancis Robinson: "Youthful mid ruby. Concentrated and firm dark-fruit nose. Plenty of ripe dark fruit and ripe chewy tannins. Very long and well balanced. (WS)" (01/2019) James Suckling: "There’s an array of herbs and cedar with reticent red fruit, leading...

(02/2017) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers a core of pure cassis and blackberry fruit, with mouthwatering streaks of graphite and anise. Racy-edged, featuring ample grip buried through the finish. Reveals a violet echo for good measure. Textbook. (JM)" (03/2017) 90 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pauillac de Château Latour is a refined and polished wine that expresses th...

2014 Sesta di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
93 points Vinous: "Moderately saturated ruby-red. Exotic mineral- and citrus-driven aromas of red cherry, blue fruit liqueur, blood orange and Asian spices, with a sexy floral nuance gaining strength with air. Supple and expansive on the palate, showcasing sweet red cherry and rather savory dark plum flavors lifted by just enough bracing acidity. Densely packed for a 2014 Brunello, at once fleshy and broad but also lively and precise, showing excellent power and cut on the strikingly long finish, characterized by youthfully dusty tannins and a hint of ca...

2014 Brown Rouge, Pessac-Léognan
Top Pick!
91-93 points Vinous: "A dark, explosive wine, the 2014 Brown hits the palate with tons of intensity and breadth. Black fruit, smoke, mint, leather and tobacco wrap around the huge, structured finish in a wine that brings together intense fruit with an equally imposing sense of structure. Consulting winemaker Frédéric Massie continues to do impressive work at Brown, a historic estate in Pessac-Léognan that seems to be on the rise. There is a lot to like and look forward to. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. (AG)" (04/201...

2014 Lilian Ladouys, St-Estèphe
Top Pick!
93 points James Suckling: "Love the black-truffle and dark-berry aromas here that follow through to a firm, full-bodied palate with polished and chewy tannins. Juicy and real. Better in two or three years, but already very pretty. " (01/2019) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Under the ownership of Jacky Lorenzetti, president of one of France’s top rugby clubs, this estate is now performing impressively. The wine is finely structured with dark tannins and tight acidity and a hint of minerality. It is Merlot-dominated, although it is the 40% Cabernet Sauvigno...

Aged a total of 27 months in barrels, then into concrete for more than a year, the Reserva also sees bottle aging until Angel deems it ready for release. 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Wild herb, underbrush, rose, leather and red-berry aromas take center stage on this. The lithe racy palate offers sour cherry, orange zest, licorice and hints of tobacco and espresso set against polished tannins and vibrant acidity. (KO)" (05/2019) Jancis Robinson: "Just mid ruby. Soft cherry and spice on the nose. Quite light and elegant with a pure, sour-cherry core and grainy tannins. (WS)" (01/2019) Vinous: "Bright red. 96 points James Suckling: "A sense of depth of fruit with astute winemaking here. Deeply ripe red and black cherries sit amid violets and fresh, lightly earthy notes. The palate has bright, lithe and juicy red cherries with some forest-floor, woody and leafy notes. Fine but sturdy tannins and a subtly spicy finish. Super length. Drink or hold. Screw cap. *#16 Top 100 New Zealand Wines 2018*" (10/2018) 96 points Sam Kim: "The wine shows a great degree of elegance as well as complexity and intensity; the seductively expressed bouquet shows spiced cherry,...

2014 Pétrus, Pomerol
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "A wine evincing true enlightenment. It’s floral on the nose and also shows blackberries, stones, minerals and cedar. Full-bodied, yet its so fine-grained and tight. So, so long. It builds like a waterfall on the finish. The tannins are powerful yet superbly integrated and harmonious. Needs four to five years in bottle." (02/2017) 93-96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pétrus possesses remarkable density and power, with superb overall depth and an explosive sense of energy that is impossible to miss. Scents of violet, spice and rose p...

96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barolo Le Vigne once again shows the wisdom of blending fruit from different sites. If there is a vintage where blending has the potential to be the difference-maker, 2014 is it. So it is hardly surprising to find the 2014 Le Vigne in such great shape. The red cherry jam, mint, cedar and floral notes are all finely sketched. Medium in body and classy, the 2014 is beautifully textured and inviting from start to finish. All the elements are simply in the right place. Vineyard sources are Merli, Vignane, Villero and Baudana. (AG)...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "The ample fruitiness of this 80% Merlot wine is right up front. It comes from a large 116-acre estate on the extension of the Pomerol plateau. Firm tannins as well as generous black plum and berry fruits are well balanced, just needing time to soften and fill out. (RV)" (02/2017) 90 points James Suckling: "A little earthy and meaty but the wine is fruity and spicy, too. Bright acidity and outstanding density and verve." (02/2017)
Price: $19.99

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Noticeably richer and more textured, with buttered citrus, honeysuckle, crushed rock, brioche and sautéed peach notes, the 2014 Condrieu les Chailles de L'Enfer is a rich, medium to full-bodied, impeccably-balanced effort that has more than a passing resemblance to its bigger brother, the Coteaux du Vernon. (JD)" (12/2016) 94 points Vinous: "Vivid yellow. Expansive aromas of nectarine, ripe citrus fruits, mango, fresh fig and pungent flowers and a hint of smoky minerals in the background. Broad, fleshy citrus a...

92 points Vinous: "Luminous red. Perfumed aromas of red cherry and berries are complicated by sweet spices, minerals and herbs. Bright, penetrating, and rather subtle in its delivery of a juicy, satisfying ensemble of red cherry, blood orange and licorice flavors. The mouthfeel is firm but nicely ripe, and the invigorating long finish is laced with zingy floral and mineral notes. A lovely, precise 2014 Brunello from a relatively new producer worth watching, as I was impressed by his wines last year too. (ID)" (03/2019) 91 points James Suckling: "An att...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Offers a big, brambly core of bitter plum, boysenberry and blackberry coulis flavors, accented by lively lavender, bay and pepper notes. Olive and iron details echo through the finish. Shows fleshy fruit for depth and riveting acidity for cut. Best from 2018 through 2029. (JM)" (10/2016) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Moving to the 2014s, these showed nicely from barrel last year and even better from bottle. A big, rich wine, especially in the vintage, the 2014 Cornas Confidence offers a broad, medium to full-bodie...

97 points Vinous: "An utterly spellbinding wine, the 2014 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is also one of the unqualified successes of the vintage. Beams of tannin give the 2014 its ample, broad feel. Inky red cherry, blueberry, smoke, leather and tobacco fill out the wine's big frame effortlessly. Layers of intense fruit meld into a huge spine of tannin in a vertical, massively structured Saint-Émilion. So many 2014s are charming and accessible, but this is not one of them. Readers will have to be patient. (AG)" (02/2017) 94 points Wine Spectato...

94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with hints of minerals. Full body, very fine tannins with orange peel and currant character. Chewy yet polished tannins. Better in 2018 but already delicious. Impressive for the difficult 2014 vintage." (07/2016) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Oreno is an intense wine with tremendous depth and pure power. Smoke, tobacco, menthol and earthiness add nuance throughout, but it is the wine's explosive energy that stands out most today. The incisive tannins need time to soften, but if they do, th...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and tightly focused, with racy cassis, blackberry and plum fruit that stretches out through a lengthy, mineral-driven finish. Mouthwatering bay and rosemary accents streak through, giving this great cut. Best from 2018 through 2029. (JM)" (10/2016) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bacon fat, violets, blackberries and blueberry notes all flow from the complex, olive tapenade, meaty and medium to full-bodied 2014 Cornas Empreintes. Coming all from granite soils and aged in 25% new barrels, it has a supple, rounded...

The 2014 possesses compelling inner sweetness and tons of finesse, all in a mid-weight style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, wild flowers and mint add an attractive upper register as the wine opens up. In 2014, Rivella's Barbaresco is all class. (AG)" (10/2017)

Drink from 2024. *Top 100 Wines of 2018, Cellar Selection*" (12/2017) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This shows the vivid, racy side of Barsac, with streaming flavors of pineapple, yellow apple, green plum and white ginger, displaying lovely energy from start to finish. Ends with enough honeysuckle and orang...

93 points James Suckling: "Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end. " (02/2017) 92 points Vinous: "Just as expressive from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is superb. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and expressive floral notes abound in a rich, deeply textured Saint-Estèphe that will drink well with minimal cellaring. 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Petit Cheval is silky and beautifully aromatic. Sweet floral and herbal notes meld into a core of red cherry, tobacco, anise and mint. Medium in body and gracious, the 2014 possesses striking balance, especially for a second wine. This is a great expression of the estate with the midweight structure that gives the wine its near-term appeal. The blend is 55 % Merlot and 45 % Cabernet Franc." 94 points Vinous: "Deep red. Perfumed violet, rose and red cherry. Profoundly rich and round but still very young, with chewy, slightly tough tannins and lots of vibrant acidity extending the mineral red cherry flavors on the back end. Made from the south-eastern slope of Mount Etna from very old vines planted at about 500 meters above sea level. Well done; this is potentially very great. (ID) 94+" (08/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Etna Rosso Serra della Contessa (made with 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio) com...

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "The wine shows intensity and concentration, offering ripe yellow fruits and honeyed sweetness tempered by boytritis. Initially, it seems to be all sweetness, then that essential acidity creeps in with the wonderful freshness of squeezed lemon. (RV)" (03/2015) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château La Tour Blanche 2014 is a blend of 82% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle that has 130 grams per liter residual sugar, a level that might be lower than what I was expecting, though still around ave...

96 points James Suckling: "Sexy blueberry, spice and black pepper. Mushroom. Full body and ultra-fine tannins. Extremely long and just starting to come around now. Needs a little more time in bottle. Splendid finish. Try in 2019 but already amazing." (04/2017) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saffredi is on the market now, but could use more time to age and develop. The bouquet is slow to open and once it does, it shows dark fruit intensity with blackberry and dried cherry at the front. The are tight aromas of spice, cured leather and...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 L'Evangile comes racing out of the blocks on the nose with plenty of black cherry, blueberry, cold stone and black truffle scents, quintessentially Pomerol with impressive delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly grainy texture, lovely black fruit here laced with Earl Grey, spice and sage, quite intense and fanning out gloriously towards the long finish. This seems to have gained precision after bottling and I did warn that it may merit a higher score. This is a deeply impressiv...

The palate delivers an impressively concentrated core of red-cherry and red-plum flavor. The tannins are succulent and the depth is good for this vintage." (06/2019) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Fuligni 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine.
