2014 Varner "Hidden Block - Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (Previously $45) (Previously $45)
Top Pick!
93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Hidden Block is the most immediate and dense of the four Pinots in the Varner range. A core of sweet red cherry and plum fruit fills out the wine's mid-weight frame effortlessly. Round, pliant and totally seductive, the 2014 has a lot to offer, including tons of near and medium-term appeal. (AG)" (08/2018) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Mostly destemmed and brought up in 25% new French oak, the medium ruby-colored 2014 Pinot Noir Hidden Block Spring Ridge Vineyard reveals a medium ruby color as well as impressive red and...

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beauregard Ranch is all Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 20% new barrels. Its medium ruby/purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of blackcurrants, vanilla bean, graphite, tobacco leaf, and bay leaf. It's medium to full-bodied, has a layered, seamless profile, good acidity, and a classic, balanced, age-worthy style. This will be loved by old-school Cabernet lovers and is a beautiful wine that's going to keep for 2-3 decades. " (02/2019) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vivacious aromas of ...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A lively, fresh, floral, peppery and berry-fruited effort, the 2014 Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains (one-third whole cluster) from the team at Fogarty is medium-bodied, elegant and impeccably put together. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, has nicely integrated acidity and clean, classy feel that will drink nicely for 4-5 years. (JD)" (10/2016) Connoisseurs Guide: "Fairly outgoing and smelling of red cherries and strawberries with accents of sweet baking spice and a slight savory touch of herbs off to ...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "My favorite of the Chardonnays, the 2014 Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard reveals more minerality than the Alpine Vineyard, with lots of crushed rock, caramelized white currant, white peach and a distinct saltiness all emerging from the glass. This rich, beautifully concentrated and layered Chardonnay needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for a decade. (JD)" (10/2016) 92 points Vinous: "A rich, voluptuous wine, the 2014 Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard is also the most overt of the Rhys Chardonnays. Orange jam,...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine I think is the best vintage to date, the sensational 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard comes from one of the top sites in all of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Incredibly complex, with layers of sweet black cherries, black raspberries, barnyard, wild herbs and spice, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, impeccably balanced texture and a great finish. Drink this gorgeous Pinot Noir anytime over the coming 10-15 years. (JD)" (10/2016) 95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is one o...

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard bristles with energy. Rose petal, mint, white pepper and blood orange give the Alpine its super-appealing aromatic upper register, but there is plenty of depth lurking beneath. Here the flavors are bright and nicely focused, while the richness of the vintage is mostly felt in the dense, potent finish. (AG)" (07/2016) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Alpine Vineyard Pinot Noir from Rhys is another outstanding young bottle of Pinot, with its whole clusters showing a bit today, but all of the constitu...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95RP, 95VN, 94JG). Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is one of the most subtle wines in the lineup. Black cherry, plum, mint, hard candy and sweet spices, along with ripe, silky tannins, give the wine its sense of creaminess and textural finesse. Super-expressive aromatics and layered, plush fruit add to the wine's considerable appeal. (AG)" (07/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Ridge Vineyards "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (93VN, 92JD, 91WS, 90W&S). Vinous: "One of the many highlights in this range, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is terrific. The effects of the drought and resulting heat stress come through in the wine's structural feel and bold, incisive flavors. Even with all of its intensity, the 2014 has a certain silkiness in its tannins that makes it approachable today. Of course, the 2014 will be even better in another few years, but opening a bottle on the early side is not a crime. The 2014 spent 27 months in French oak. Readers who are looking for a more affordable alternative to Ridge's iconic Monte Bello should consider the 2014 Estate. Look for the Estate to be a real overachiever in 2014 as well as one of the best - possibly the best - California Cabernet in its price range. (AG)" (08/2017)
