94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay En Caillerets bursts from the glass with a huge, explosive bouquet. Blackberries, blueberries, hard candy and spices are just a few of the notes that emerge from this layered, intense Burgundy. There is plenty of inner tension here, in fact the Caillerets appears to be holding back a lot of its potential. It is a dazzling wine though, and one built for the long haul. (AG)" (05/2011) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "For a Volnay, this is a very structured wine. It has huge richness laced with firm tan...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes represents the height of elegance. Here we find the femininity of Chambolle, but with an extra dimension of power and muscle to match. Crushed flowers and sweet spices add the final nuances on the subtle finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. This is a stunning set of wines from Patrick Landager. The vintage yielded a set of super-sized, big wines that may shock some readers for their sheer intensity. These are among some of the most backward 2009s I tasted and will...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Bonnes-Mares is quite big and powerful yet also possesses a seamlessness that is very 2009. Waves of black fruit, spices, menthol and licorice saturate the palate as this large-scaled, dramatic wine opens up in the glass. The Bonnes-Mares boasts a tremendous combination of fruit and sheer structure. The 2009 is more approachable than the 2010 and nearly as dazzling. It will still require quite a bit of time, however, readers need to be patient. (AG)" (04/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International W...

2009 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (1.5 L)
Top Pick!
97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is garlanded with an absolutely stunning bouquet, so pure and perfumed with blueberry, cassis, orange essence, fresh apricots and umeboshi. Brilliant definition. The palate is medium-bodied with intense dark cherry fruit vying for attention against the vibrant mineralite that lends so much precision on the finish. The freshness belies the power. Extraordinary length and persistency, this is a breathtaking Pinot Noir. (NM)" (03/2011) 94-97 points Vinous: "The 2009 Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes i...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Clos de la Bousse d'Or presents a wild, almost unrestrained expression of Volnay. It is a sumptuous wine graced with stunning beauty in its opulent fruit. This shows marvelous detail and clarity with palate staining intensity. Despite its richness, there is plenty of vibrancy and freshness. (AG)" (05/2011) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly more refined nose speaks of red berry fruit that is liberally laced with notes of cassis and blue berry while introducing rich and even more el...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood influence does not unduly hamper the attractiveness of the otherwise fresh and bright earthy and high-toned red pinot fruit suffused nose. The rich and solidly structured medium-bodied flavors possess copious amounts of mid-palate sap, which is a good thing because the impressively persistent finish is firm to the point of being chewy. This is potentially the best example of the Chevillon Roncières that I have ever seen from cask though note that patience will be required. *Outstanding* " (01/2011) ...

88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An ultra-elegant nose features beautiful raspberry, red currant and wet stone hints that are in keeping with the rich, silky and pure flavors that possess a lilting mouth feel that is very Volnay in character, all wrapped in a lacy, balanced and energetic finish. A classic Volnay of charm and grace. Drink: 2015+" (05/2011) 91 points John Gilman: "The 2009 Lafarge Volnay AC is a beautiful village wine that shows off all the inherent elegance and purity of the vintage. The very classy nose offers up scents of cher...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. (BS)" (06/2012) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is a brilliant example of the vintage and is destined to be one of the reference point grand crus of the vintage. The nose is deep, pure and beautifully complex, as it offers up “cool” and reserved blend of cassis, dark berries, coffee bean, a great base...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is notably different as the fruit is notably riper though it also is very fresh and cool with sauvage notes that carry over to the intense flavors that contrast a silk-like texture with bold flavor authority on the mineral-driven and powerful finish. This is terrific." (01/2011) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers presents an attractive core of dark fruit, considerable aromatic complexity and plenty of structure to back things up. Fresh, vibrant notes are wo...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Henri Boillot Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (94BH, (91-94VN)). Vinous: "Lovely energy and perfume to the aromas of pineapple, citrus fruit, quinine and honey. Fat, silky and sweet but with plenty of framing minerality giving energy to the mid-palate. This really spreads out to coat the mouth. Builds nicely on the long finish, where hints of exotic fruits are enlivened by dusty minerality. (ST)" (09/2010)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine de Montille Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Thorey" (92BH, (90-92ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A deft application of wood does not interfere with the clear expression of the otherwise fresh, cool and admirably pure red berry fruit and spice aromas. There is good richness to the refined, detailed and lightly mineral-infused flavors that are shaped by a firm lashing of ripe tannins and noticeable finishing austerity on the long and mouth coating finish. A serious Nuits. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*" (05/2011)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru "150th Anniversary Cuvee" (94RP, 94VN, 91BH). Vinous: "The 2009 Beaune 1er Cru 150th Anniversary is every bit as magical as it has always been. There is a translucence to the fruit that is just remarkable. That is the good news. The not so good news is that the 2009 remains very tightly wound and in need of further cellaring. The aromatics are just starting to open up, but the tannins remain quite fierce. Readers who own the 2009 should be prepared to cellar it for at least a few years. There is an effortlessness to the 2009 that is hard to describe, but that gives the wine its sense of impeccable balance. Hints of sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, dried herbs and cherry add the closing shades of aromatic nuance to this gorgeous, compelling Beaune from Jadot. The 2009 is a blend of 17 different sites. (AG)" (03/2018)

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Aligote. While Chardonnay may be the most famous white varietal in Burgundy, there is another: Aligoté. Recorded in Burgundy in the 1700s, Aligoté was once widely planted, but almost died out in the early 20th century after the 19th century phylloxera epidemic wiped out most of the vineyards. It is undergoing a renaissance in the 21st century.

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Lucien Le Moine Volnay 1er Cru "Santenots" ((91-93RP), (90-92BH), (89-91ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Santenots shows notable length and purity in its crushed flowers, mint and spices. The Santenots is a touch lithe, but the delicate, feminine personality of the wine is nevertheless extremely attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $135.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Faiveley Corton Grand Cru "Clos des Corton Faiveley" (96VN, 95WS, 94BH, 92JG). Vinous: "Good medium red with faint amber at the rim. Quite ripe on the nose if considerably less expressive than the 2010, offering scents of raspberry, redcurrant, rose petal, cedar and tobacco. Then wonderfully fleshy and opulent in the mouth, with a texture like liquid velvet. Delivers a very sexy restrained sweetness to its sappy flavors of cherry, red berries, spices and red licorice. Finishes with totally ripe, substantial, spreading tannins and outstanding persistence. This beautifully balanced, surprisingly elegant wine does not lose any of its thickness on the back end. Erwan Faiveley told me that his family loves to open this wine at special dinners, eschewing decanting and then watching it explode with some oxygenation. It can certainly be paired today with strongly flavored meat dishes. The '09 Clos des Cortons has been a personal favorite of mine since t

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru "Perrieres" (OWC - (91-94BH), 93VN, 92RP, 92W&S) in original wood. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe yet airy and quite cool nose of indisputable class reflects notes of citrus, stone and white flowers that serve as a graceful preface for the intensely mineral-driven, tension-filled and chiseled flavors that possess sneaky power and outstanding length. There is notably more acidity here than in the Genevrières and better persistence as well. *Sweet spot Outstanding*" (02/2011)
