Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Foxglove Zinfandel (which includes 14% Petite Sirah) has a fruit-forward, ripe, textured style as well as classic notes of plums, leafy herbs, and Asian spices. It's another solid, enjoyable effort from this estate." (10/2019) Vinous: "The 2016 Zinfandel is a fresh, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Juicy black cherry, leather, spice, menthol and cedar add character to this exuberant, racy Zinfandel. This is an especially floral, mid-weight style. (AG)" (09/2019) K&L Notes: At the core of Foxglove is Bob Var...

This 100% Zinfandel is sourced from the Riverstar, Rancho Arroyo Grande, and Hinterland Vineyards in Paso Robles. The wine is aged in American oak barrels (20% new) for nine months. ABV is 14.4%. The winery says of the vintage: "Black cherry and cinnamon on the nose with images of sugar plum fairies dancing through your head. Some hints of black tea and plum skin as you take your first sip, leaving you grateful for Paso’s precious Zin."

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(16.2% alcohol): Bright, deep red. Pungent aromas of black raspberry, pepper and herbs, lifted by a mineral note from the limestone-rich soil. Wonderfully intense and energetic, with a light touch that belies its substantial alcohol. Captivating flavors of blackberry, herbs and lavender saturate the palate. Boasts a superb balance of sugar, acidity and tannins. This is spectacularly aromatic today but should really be held for a few years. (ST)" (05/2014) 94 points Vinous: "The 2012 Zinfandel...

About this producer: "Opolo’s estate vineyards were established from 1994-1996, with sites on both the west and east side of Paso Robles. The topographically diverse, coastal landscape of the westside vineyards provides for an intense and unique flavor profile. The heat and dryness of the east side vineyard make it an ideal microclimate for growing Bordeaux varietals. Home to a wide range of varietals, the estate vineyards help allow the team at Opolo to create many unique single varietals as well as award winning blends."

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from barrel, the 2017 Zinfandel Paso Robles is also very promising, offering up youthful primary aromas of ripe cherries and currants. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent, with melting tannins and a pure, juicy, fruit-driven profile. In 2017, Ridge was able to pick their entire block of the Benito Dusi vineyard in one go, meaning that all the grapes arrived at the Monte Bello winery the day that they were harvested, and that will also be the practice going forward. While the ...

89-92 points Vinous: "Another expressive Paso Robles wine, the 2015 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard is ripe, powerful and intense, with notable breadth to hand all of that dark fruit. Today, the Dusi is a bit burly, but it all works well." (12/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Soft, silky and subtly structured, with briary wild berry and orange peel aromas and ripe raspberry, grilled sage and cracked pepper flavors. Drink now through 2026. " (02/2017)

94 points Vinous: "Brilliant magenta. Highly perfumed, spice- and mineral-accented aromas of black raspberry, boysenberry and licorice carry a suave floral overtone. Stains the palate with intense, mineral-tinged red and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that deftly blend power and finesse. Finishes sweet, smoky and extremely long, with resonating florality and a lingering blueberry note. Made with 50% whole clusters and raised in neutral French and Hungarian oak barrels. (JR)" (02/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "There is a strong but not overripe fru...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From Paso Robles, the 2014 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard (planted in 1945) is the more potent of the Turley 2014s, coming in at a lofty 16% alcohol. It is not overripe, not Amarone-like, or showing any heat. This wine has plenty of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, licorice, and roasted herbs that are reminiscent of Mediterranean-styled wine, with a full-bodied mouthfeel and a heady, lush finish. This is impressive, but clearly one of the bigger-boned, larger-scaled Zinfandels in the 2014 portfolio. Drink over the n...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the estate, the 2013 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard (15.9%) comes from vines planted in the 1920s on primarily limestone soil. This wine smells like an exploding black cherry fruit bomb. Gorgeous notes of kirsch liqueur and raspberries, an almost laser-like minerality and crispness are present in this full-bodied, beautiful wine, which seems remarkably light on its feet for its power and richness. Blind-tasted, this wine could easily pass for an old vine Grenache from a Mediterranean climate -- it’s that Grenach...

This exclusive bottling is created from the grapes growing on the etsate vineyard ridge tops. This wine is the ultimate in Zinfandels; a true blockbuster. Massive fruit surrounded with hints of honey and a bit of brown sugar, toasted almonds and it wraps up with a lingering finish of crème brule. Aged for 17 months in French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

2018 Linne Calodo "Problem Child" Paso Robles Red Blend
New!
Winery notes: 70% Zinfandel, 20% Syrah, 5% Carignan, 5% Graciano. If you are looking for Zinfandel, look no further. This is one of the best examples of Zinfandel in the whole state of California. As usual, the bold audacity of Zinfandel is tamed by skillful blending with Syrah, Carignan, and Graciano. It’s like obedience school for the Problem Child, each grape helps develop the wine into a knowledgeable smart ass that will test the boundaries. The rich and bold wine elicits flavors of cranberries, raspberries, orange peel and cinnamon. There’s a wonder...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Zinfandel Paso Robles Benito Dusi Ranch wraps around the palate with soft, lush fruit. This is distinctly Paso in its opulent, generous personality. Dark red cherries, flowers and spices flesh out on the finish. The Benito Dusi is delicious, but it stops just shy of being truly distinctive. On the plus side, it is more approachable than some of the other 2010s and should drink well upon release. (RP)" (08/2012)

91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the limestone soils of Paso Robles, the 2006 Zinfandel Pesenti is a beauty. The limestone seems to give Zinfandels in that area acidity, vibrancy, and aromatic personalities, but without sacrificing the intrinsic richness and intensity from low yields. This wine boasts fabulous briery, blackberry, and cherry fruit, a crushed rock note, and a long, heady finish. (RP)" (12/2007) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Expansive aromas of cherry, briary raspberry and pepper....

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the pure white soils/limestone terroir emerges the 2014 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard (15.8% alcohol). This is a warm area, but with cold soils, and the result is one of the great classics of Zinfandel from the Central Coast. The intensity of flavor, the colossal richness and the full-bodied power are totally concealed beneath a cascade of fruit. This multidimensional wine reveals gorgeous minerality, loads of black and red fruits, and even a hint of spring flowers. This is a stunner that is layered, extremely ...

Connoisseurs Guide: "As is the case with its siblings from Opolo, this is a Zinfandel little concerned with subtlety and constraint. It runs straightway to heady, late-harvest ripeness with a sweep of chocolate to its juicy and jammy, berry-like fruit, yet that fruit holds its ground against tannin and heat, and its balancing acidity keeps it away from heavy-footed softness. It is a wine of a style, and not one to pour with milder foods, but those who like their Zins big and ripe will have no complaints. *One Star*" (01/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "This is ...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 James Berry Vineyard is a complex, elegant blend of 35% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre, and a whopping 11% Roussanne that was brought up in a new 500-liter barrels and a used 300-liter barrel. Sexy notes of candied cherries, plums, cracked black pepper, and bouquet garni all flow to a medium to full-bodied blend that has a silky, seamless texture, polished tannins, and a beautiful sense of purity and complexity paired with plenty of richness and depth. I continue to love the wines from the up and coming Mark Adams, w...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The impressive, powerful 2005 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, plenty of minerality, loads of bright, savory, black cherry and black currant fruit, and notions of pepper and crushed rocks. This is one of the deepest, richest, most full-bodied 2005s in this portfolio. " (12/2006) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Crushed berries, flowers, blood orange, spices and mint on the nose. Juicy and precise, with moderate flesh but penetrating red berr...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Structure meets zesty fruit in this vivid red, which has black cherry, grilled anise and white pepper flavors that take on speed toward minerally tannins. (TF)" (05/2018) 88-91 points Vinous: "The 2015 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard is ripe, dense and powerful. Today, the 2015 comes across as quite heavy and roasted in its flavor profile, with real depth and density. Dark cherry, espresso, mocha and dark spices add to the wine's intense feel. 2016 Linne Calodo "Outsider" Paso Robles Red Blend
Back In Stock!
95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Zinfandel-based 2016 Outsider gives up complex, textbook notes of sweet red and black fruits, cedarwood, white pepper, and incense. This is a classic Zinfandel that carries loads of fruit and richness yet stays light, elegant, and graceful on the palate, with terrific purity and freshness. It’s already impossible to resist, and I see no need to delay gratification either. The blend is 82% Zinfandel, 7% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the balance Graciano, all brought up in new and neutral American oak." (11/2018) 94 points ...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Turley’s 2010 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard, from one of the top sites in Paso Robles, strikes a gorgeous stylistic middle ground. Complex and beautiful, the 2010 possesses gorgeous mid-palate pliancy while remaining light on its feet. Blackberries, plums and exotic spices are all layered into the round, perfumed finish. I can’t wait to see how this ages. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. (AG)" (12/2012)
