2016 Copain "Les Voisins" Yorkville Highlands Syrah (Previously $36) (Previously $36)
Top Pick!
95 points Wine & Spirits: "Wells Guthrie made this wine after selling Copain to Jackson Family in 2016. A blend of syrah from the High Rock, Yorkville Estate and Hawk’s Butte vineyards, all between 1,200 to 1,600 feet in altitude, this was fermented with ambient yeasts, then aged in neutral barriques for 18 months. It starts out with the scent of a field of lavender. Then, between the wine’s tactile gentleness and lasting coastal forest scents, it develops into a glorious Pacific coast red. 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Pinot Noir Central Coast comes from multiple vineyards throughout the Central Coast and has a touch of the elegance and purity found in the top cuvées. Impressive black raspberry fruits, white flowers, spice, and a subtle salty minerality all emerge from the glass, and it's beautifully textured, balanced, and just a joy to drink. It's well worth its going rate and should be snatched up by readers." (09/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blend from sites across the Central Coast carries all the expert hallmarks of th...

2018 Oakridge "Henk Vineyard" Chardonnay Yarra Valley Victoria
Top Pick!
96 points James Halliday: "It's no coincidence that all three of the Oakridge Vineyard Series Chardonnays come from the Upper Yarra - it is higher and cooler, and was the perfect place for the very warm vintage. The bouquet is slightly richer than Barkala and Hazeldene, and the palate follows suit." (08/2020) 96 points James Suckling: "Lovely, creamy Chardonnay with sliced cooked-apple, light pear and straw character. Medium body. Delicious fruit. Complex. Really intense and focused." 2018 Bodegas Aleanna "El Enemigo" Chardonnay Mendoza
Top Pick!
97 points James Suckling: "This is another rock-star Chardonnay from here with dried-apple, pear-skin, crushed-stone and peach-pit character. Full body. Creamy texture. Phenolic form and a long, flavorful finish. Drink or hold." (02/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The textbook 2018 El Enemigo Chardonnay had varietal aromas and notes from the barrel, giving it a very attractive profile. But there is a secret: the barrels develop some flor yeasts in the style of Jerez (or Jura) and this gives the wine a spicy twist, hints of curry and whi...

(2019 DWWA)" (05/2019) K&L Notes: Antech's Brut Nature is produced with no added dosage, which translates to a super clean and crisp glass of bubbles. It is composed of 90% Mauzac, 5% Chenin Blanc and 5% Chardonnay. All harvesting is done by hand. Mas Codina is a 40-hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Reserva Cava was hand-harvested from 25- to 40-year-old vines and estate-bottled. Though it does not say it on the label, the current disgorgement is based entirely on the 2015 harvest. Vines are planted in calcareous and sandy clay soils which keep the wine minerally and lively. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, and is aged on its lees for a minimum of two years before disgorgement. Varietals include Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. 100%...

William Kelly in Wine Advocate: "La Chablisienne is a force of nature in Chablis, vinifying and bottling fully one-quarter of the entire appellation's production and offering 13 premiers crus and six grands crus ... Revisiting the 2017s in bottle, they met or surpassed my expectations formed last year, and there is plenty of serious wine to be found at this address, including several cuvées that would embarrass many small domaines in a blind tasting." Wine Enthusiast: "Honeysuckle, honeydew melon and white-peach aromas follow through to the somewhat sweet palate along with a note of glazed orange zest. Fresh acidity lifts the rich candied flavors. (KO)" (12/2017) K&L Notes: The Bronca sisters grow their own fruit on steep hillside vineyards, then make base wine and perform the secondary (sparkling) fermentation on non-vintage batches three or four times a year to ensure freshness. 2018 Domaine des Niales Rhedon-Marin Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes
Top Pick!
This is a charming Chardonnay from a small grower in the Mâcon. Lionel Rhedon-Marin is a graduate of the College of Viticulture in the nearby village of Davaye, where Guffens trained. All of their young-vine fruit is sold in bulk to one of the better negociants, who is pleased to have it, since Lionel is such a careful grower. But their old-vine fruit, all over 45 years of age, is kept for the domaine wine, which is charming and elegant. This is a balanced, well-made and wonderfully crisp and mineral-driven Mâcon. Only K&L's direct import makes this pric...

Our fifth vintage of this direct import Albariño, this wine shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit, and a brisk, saline-tinged palate. This wine is made about 50 miles northeast of Turin near lake Viverone in the Canavese DOC. The wine is made of 95% Nebbiolo, with Barbera and Freisa making up the other 5% of the blend. Mas Codina is a 40-hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Rosé consists of Pinot Noir grown in their own vineyards in the middle Penedès region. Here the Garriga brothers are quite pleased with the results they see from the Pinot Noir grown in chalky-clay soils. They have been working organically for the past several years, and their first harvest doing so with certification was 2017.
