2022 Prieler "Seeberg" Pinot Blanc Burgenland
New!
Price: $24.99

We only received 300 bottles of this all Pinot Blanc rarity from Lamoureux, an all- estate-grown Champagne from Les Riceys, just three miles from the border with Burgundy. This comes from a half-acre parcel that only yields one press load each year, but sadly in some years yields nothing as Pinot Blanc buds early and is prone to early frost. This has seen three years of aging on the lees and has some very nice toasty quality to go with the exotic fruit of the Pinot Blanc. Best of all, this broad, rich Champagne finishes dry at just 7 grams per liter of d...

Around 1900 the imposing Schloss (castle) was built high above the vineyards. The 24-acre vineyard around the castle enjoys the perfect conditions for growing wine grapes. It is situated on a steep hillside facing south to south-west and it has a black slaty soil. The typical character of Schloss Saarstein wines is elegant steeliness balanced with crisp fruit. Production is concentrated on the one vineyard surrounding the Schloss with great emphasis on strict selection when hand-picking. The wines are then carefully treated in wooden thousand-liter barre...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Similar to Chardonnay, but lighter in the mouth, and the flavors veer to tangerines and Meyer lemons. Still, it has the familiar buttered toast, vanilla and caramel richness of a barrel-aged Chard. A dry, acidic finish makes it versatile at the table." (10/2011)
Price: $24.99

92 points Vinous: "The 2017 Pinot Blanc Durell Vineyard is a wine of place, first and foremost. The orchard fruit, floral and savory notes are attractive, but it is the wine's structural feel that really stands out. There is no shortage of character or personality here. (AG) " (01/2019)
Price: $1.00

A easygoing thirst quenching wine that reveals pear flavors, lemon, melon, and a hint of minerals. Concentrated, dry, with a fresh citric acidity which balances addictively with all this fruit.

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Light and fresh, this is a consistently delicious aromatic white from the appellation, a chiseled study in white peach, pear and lilting acidity. Floral in zesty grapefruit, it adds a streak of ginger spice to the finish, with just the right amount of rich body to add weight. (VB)" (10/2016)

89 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Pale green. This shows a little more auxerrois on the nose than the 2011, with delicate honey and spice notes mixed in with the green apple and beeswax. Shows similar flavors in the mouth but with a less obvious floral component than the 2011 and more structure. Lovely integrated acidity keeps the flavors fresh and clean. Beautiful pinot blanc, and one of the best from Trimbach in my memory." (12/2012) Wine Spectator: "Clean-cut and fresh, with a subtle salinity to the well-meshed flavors of green pear, lemon zest, alm...

Monica Larner reports: "The Ermacora family estate is located among the gentle hills of Ipplis and Montsclapade ad Orsaria in the township of Premariacco. This area has vineyards from 120 to 150 meters in altitude with mineral-rich marl soils that are also especially rich in organic material. These conditions favor old vines, with some estate plants now over the 50-year mark. Nicola Ermacora is working toward sustainable farming practices. The estate farms 40 hectares of vines and inaugurated its new winery in 2019."

93 points James Suckling: "Very floral and fruity with hints of pear and melon on the nose. Medium to full body, spicy and minerally undetones to the chalky, almond-tinted fruit. Delicious and intense finish. " (10/2017) 91 points Vinous: "Luminous straw-green. Lively aromas and flavors of nectarine and green apple carry intense floral nuances. The aftertaste is long, cool and brimming with early appeal. Drink through 2021. (ID)" (12/2018)

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is all about tension. Tasted after the 2009, the 2010 is quite a bit brighter in its aromas and flavors, with fewer of the buttery, tropical notes found in the 2009 and more distinct shades of white fleshed fruit. The saline-infused finish makes it hard to resist a second taste. I imagine the 2010 will still be a spectacular bottle at age 20. Today, it is a mere infant. (AG)" (05/2013) 93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful aromas of apples, mangoes and lemons follow through to a full body, a beauti...

93 points James Suckling: "This really captures the mountain freshness of this Alpine region and the minerality of the stony soils of this appellation, and marries them with extremely attractive citrus fruit and just the right amount of creaminess. Long, very pure finish. Drink or hold." (11/2018) 90 points Wine Advocate: "This wine is celebrating its 125th anniversary (1893-2018) with this release. The 2017 Alto Adige Terlano Classico is a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. You get great value at this low price, and som...
Price: $23.99

A refreshing mid-weight white with a mouthful of bright citrus and pineapple-like fruit flavours and a fresh lingering finish. In order to highlight these vibrant fruit flavours, this wine is not oak aged. A great value!
Price: $8.99

This white is soft, creamy and lush, a bit reminiscent of lemon meringue pie, with sweet citrus scents and flavors wrapped in spice. Delicious on its own, this is not a wine that needs a three-course meal to taste good. Try it as an alternative to Chardonnay at your next party. Pinot Blanc has a long tradition in Alsace, and this is an easy-going example to get to know.

A gold medal winner at Colmar Fair. A refreshing, dry, exceptional well-balanced white. This beauty from Alsace is a fine value. Enjoy with light faire.

Int'l Wine Cellar: "Citrus skin, fresh hay and a note of spice on the nose. Juicy, fruity and nicely balanced, with good cut and a firm finish. Truly dry. " (12/2003)

92 points Wine Advocate: "Pyramid Valley's 2008 "Kerner Estate" Pinot Blanc is just sensational. Resulting from a wild yeast fermentation in old oak that lasted 10 months, the nose is a little mute to begin but give it a few moments and fragrant notes of spiced pears, warm apples and toast begin to appear with an undercurrent of white blossom and dill seed. The full bodied palate is rich with apple and stone fruit flavors plus a silken texture with crisp acid to enliven and a long creamy finish. Delicious now, it should open with a further 6 months in bo...

Dario Ermacora was one of our first Italian direct imports. His wines have always been textbook, classic, and archetypal for Friulian whites: understated, balanced, with a long finish. His winery is in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, or the Eastern Hills of Friuli, a few scant kilometers from the Slovenian border. Most of Friuli is a flat, glaciated plain running from the Julian Alps down to the top of the Adriatic Sea, but on the eastern border the topography changes. In the Colli Orientali a series of horseshoe-shaped glacial moraines dot the landscape...

94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of cooked apples, lemongrass, tarragon, and limes with hints of kiwi. Medium body. Creamy texture with dried lemons and pear pie. Flinty and slate character, too. Such tension and purity. Aged 20% in large casks and partial malolatic fermentation. A blend of 60% pinot bianco, 30% chardonnay and 10% sauvignon blanc." (10/2023) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, juicy and appealing, with hints of pink grapefruit zest and grated ginger enlivening the ripe Gala apple, elderflower and slivered almond notes. Long and minerall...

94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Terlaner Riserva Nova Domus opens slowly in the glass, but is worth the wait, as a delicate mix of pretty spring flowers, wet slate, crushed pear and hints of lime zests waft up from the glass. It’s silky and round in feel. Lifting acidity and minerals energize the expression as savory spices and rich orchard fruits flesh out across the palate. There’s amazing dimension and youthful density here, all in a harmonious state, as the 2019 tapers off lightly structured and with a penetrating citrus intensity that lingers. There’s m...

93 points James Suckling: "A subtle white with white pepper, thyme, citrus and quartz and other minerals. What this really trades in is minerality, whereby flinty and stoney aromas are conveyed in a linear streak of acidity. Medium-bodied and medium-long on the finish." (04/2019) 93 points Wine Advocate: "This is the wine that best embodies the identity and personality of this iconic farming cooperative in Alto Adige. The 2018 Alto Adige Terlano Cuvèe is a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. In the past, I have identified...

A classic example of a great white wine made by a cooperative, this wine is loaded with aromas of lime blossom, green apple and peach. The palate is lively and refreshing with citrus and mineral notes plus zippy acidity and peach flavors. Precise and delicious, this is a great white wine to enjoy out on your patio or with a summer salad. Viticoltori San Pietro is a cooperative that operates out of Alto Adige in Northern Italy, where, as in regions across Italy in recent years, better and more characterful varietal white wines are being made by reducing y...

Pierre Sparr "Réserve" Crémant d'Alsace Brut
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sour apple-candy aromas have cooling, herbaceous notes. A soft, mouthfilling mousse carries that sour green-apple note onto the palate. It’s hit with saline minerality, trailing into an herbaceous, refreshing finish. Although most sparkling wines pair well with a variety of foods, this one is especially epicurean. (LS)" (12/2022) Wine & Spirits: "This wine’s candied-apple flavors meet some malic acidity, making it fleshy and refreshing in a rustic way." (08/2019) K&L Notes: The Sparr winery has more than a little experienc...

91 points Vinous: "A wine of precision and nuance, the 2015 Terlaner Classico once again shows why this is one of Alto Adige's most compelling and delicious wines. The Pinot Blanc/Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc blend that has worked so well here for decades yields a white endowed with striking focus. White flowers, lemon peel, ripe orchard fruit, apricot pit, almond, mint and chamomile form a super-appealing fabric of aromas, flavors and textures. There is a lot to like here. The Terlano has a level of precision that none of these varieties show on their own...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Subtle but fresh hints of green pear on the nose of this wine continue seamlessly on the palate. The body is slender but generous, suggesting ripe, juicy Mirabelle. The finish is dry and refreshing. (AK)" (05/2020)

Somewhat surprisingly, the Nahe often produces terrific Pinot Blanc. This is one of the best. It comes from two estate vineyards, mostly the Winzenheimer Berg, which supplies the clay and gravel soil that gives the wine a bit of opulence and heft, and the Kupfergrube, which gives the wine elegance and a fine, floral scent. Fermented in a new 600-liter casks, then immediately transferred to tank, this dry Weissburgunder (German for Pinot Blanc) delivers fresh apple, pear and luscious creamed corn with savory, pungent, and piquant hints of browned butter,...

This charming blend of 80% Pinot Blanc and 20% Chardonnay is unusual for more than the cepage (varietal blend). It comes from the Cote de Nuits, not the Cote de Beaune. The family vineyard near Corgoloin is hand-harvested, and produces a spicy, slightly nutty white of charm and length. At this price, it will disappear very quickly!
Price: $15.99

Located in the north eastern corner of France, Alsace produces wonderful, lively Pinot Blanc without any wood aging, this wine is crisp, dry, flavorful with a lot of fruit scents. This is the perfect match for seafood, fish, and poultry, a great refreshing wine.

Italy known for good, large co-operative wineries. (A few good co-ops exist in other regions, but not lots of them in one region.) This top-notch wine comes from the co-op Erste + Neue, which is right in the center of Caldaro, one of the small towns on the "Wine Road" south of Bolzano. They make the range of white wines that you would expect, Sauvignon, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris (and an excellent Müller Thurgau). Gerhard Sanin, the enologist for E+N, favors a bright, restrained winemaking style that really allows this place and these varieties to shine.

Five vintages ago we were the first to start importing wines from this small family winery. They were always much better known within Italy where they'd been awarded multiple Gambero Rosso awards. We began to slowly build the brand here, year after year our sales staff suggesting these wines until now Ermacora is one of K&L's most sought after brands. The Brothers Ermacora (Dario & Luciano) live amongst the vines at their small winery in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, just a few miles from the Slovenian border. Although they have all the most modern tec...
