2019 Château Gigognan "Clos du Roi" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vinified primarily in concrete with a small proportion of whole-bunch fermentation, there's a lifted, airy freshness to Gigognan's Clos du Roi that's consistent from vintage to vintage. A full-bodied blend of Grenache (70%), Mourvédre (20%) and Syrah (10%), it's packed with layers of succulent blackberry, cherry and plum flavors, edged by a stony, salty minerality. *Editors' Choice* (AI)" (11/2022) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A meaty wine, with converging flavors of earth, tar, violet and fruit, plus cranberry and cassis note...

Damien Hugot Rosé Extra Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This all estate grown rosé is based on old-vine Chardonnay from Chouilly and Cramant. It gets its rosé color and flavor from an ancient plot of Meunier grown just between the villages of Chavot and Monthelon south of Epernay. It is a refreshing, elegant style of rosé, great for the aperitif or to pair with a smoked salmon appetizer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

2020 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Barbaresco boasts an ample set of aromas with wild cherry, blue flower, sweet spice and crushed limestone. As always, the wine paints an exciting and authentic portrait of Nebbiolo, albeit with a little more richness and texture in this vintage. This is especially true in terms of the palate, where the wine offers mid-weight intensity with melting tannins. (ML)" (08/2023) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Embrace the harmonious blend of cooked cherries infused with an array of mixed spices, accompanied by subtle hints of me...

We only received 300 bottles of this all Pinot Blanc rarity from Lamoureux, an all- estate-grown Champagne from Les Riceys, just three miles from the border with Burgundy. This comes from a half-acre parcel that only yields one press load each year, but sadly in some years yields nothing as Pinot Blanc buds early and is prone to early frost. This has seen three years of aging on the lees and has some very nice toasty quality to go with the exotic fruit of the Pinot Blanc. Best of all, this broad, rich Champagne finishes dry but not austere. (Gary Westby,...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This gold-hued non vintage Brut is a classic example of the stellar quality of English fizz. Initial gun smoke notes morph into more opulent aromas like honeyed apple, citrus peel and toasted hazelnut. The rapier acidity is cheek sucking and tongue-tingling but lends freshness to the creamy textural weight and adds to the long, tangy finish. All elegance and class, this is highly food friendly but also totally delicious on its own. (CP) " (05/2023) 92 points Vinous: "The NV Brut from Wiston has been a go-to English spa...

90 points James Suckling: "Pastry, baked-apple and citrus aromas here. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and gently yeasty with fine bubbles. Nicely balanced." (06/2024) Wine Spectator: "A light, lively Champagne, with a pure note of crunchy green apple riding the lacy texture, accompanied by hints of almond skin, ground ginger and pink grapefruit pith. Modest finish. Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. 2022 Kalinda Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Top Pick!
For decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity. This is a superb Cabernet-very elegant and user friendly already. Lots of sweet cassis and red fruit aromas that follow to the palate. No hard edges here-drink it young with a prime rib or steak dinner. Will cellar well for five plus years. — Clyde Beffa...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a touch more complex as well as precise. Stone fruits, white flowers, spicy oak, and a kiss of chalky minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, elegant, layered mouthfeel, flawless balance, and a great finish. It shows the balanced, complete, incredibly impressive style of the 2021 vintage beautifully." (08/2024) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a classy, polished wine. 2019 Vecchie Terre di Montefili Chianti Classico
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A bold and earthy wine, the 2019 Chianti Classico is entirely Sangiovese was aged for 15 months in used Slavonian oak botti. It offers complex aromas of baked black cherry, saddle leather, and damp forest soil and has purity on the palate as well as a full texture, with warming fruit of spiced plum and plush tannins, though it is not weighted down. This impressive red has a lot packed into it. (AF) " (01/2023) 91 points Wine Advocate: "Made with 100% Sangiovese, the 2019 Chianti Classico manages an inky dark color that is unusu...

Wafting from the glass with scents of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a deep and multidimensional core, lively acids and beautifully ripe tannins. Suave and elegant, this young, impeccably balanced classic will delight Médoc purists, but it is far from austere today and will offer a remarkably broad drinking window. This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims. All of the vines for this 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier cuvée come from Cormincy, the last village in Champagne before the flats facing out towards the Ardennes. As one would expect from a Blanc de Noir, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of savory red fruit flavor. Due to its far northern provenance, this Champagne also has great snap and refreshment to balance out its power. - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

Alexandre Le Brun "Passion" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth generation winemaker whose family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and built their cellars in 1822. This bottling is simply great! It is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that spent an incredible eight years on the lees! It is full, rich and creamy with a lush character. This single vineyard, 100% Meunier champagne comes from the oldest and best plot of Thierry Thibault's estate, La Croix St. Remy in the fabled-for-meunier village of Verneuil. The over fifty year old parcel is vinified in stainless steel and was aged for six years on the lees and then more than a year on the cork. Thierry's father was the chef de cave at Charles Heidsieck, and was a huge believer in post disgorgement ageing. The results are fantastic- a rich tarte tatin nose and mid palate, filled with Meunier personality but free of any rustic flavors, ...

93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Upper Picnic Block is eminently charming in its sweet-fruited, exuberantly spiced, medium-weight build. Layers of kirsch, raspberry sauce, cinnamon, cardamom and iodine mark a wine of sexiness and sensuality. Again, this is a style reflective of a different era for Neely. Growing season differences notwithstanding, the 2018 checks in at 14.1% alcohol, nearly two full degrees higher than the 2021 tasted alongside. I prefer this edition, as it’s still finessed but has more stage presence and inner harmony. The ...
