Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96JD, 96JS, 96RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. (RP)" (02/2004)
Starting Bid: $200.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Greenock Creek "Roennfeldt Road" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Shiraz "Roennfeldt Road", from an outstanding vintage, is the finest since the near-perfect 1998. Opaque purple/black, it offers a mind-boggling bouquet of pencil lead, earth, white truffle, pepper, violets, licorice, blackberry, and blueberry compote. Dense, opulent, and full-bodied, there are mouth-filling, spicy, blue and black fruit flavors with notes of chocolate in the background. This sensational effort demands 8-10 years of additional bottle age and should drink well through 2030. Greenock Creek Vineyard and Cellars, owned by Michael and Annabelle Waugh, is one of the Barossa’s benchmark wineries. Start with a great terroir, add in old vine material, and meticulous winemaking and the results are usually extraordinary." (10/2007)
Starting Bid: $245.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona "Vigna di Pianrosso" Brunello di Montalcino (93RP, 92WS, 91VN, 91WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The stylish, cask-aged 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso opens with a floral, aromatic nose followed by sweet, perfumed red fruit that blossoms onto the palate with notable expansiveness in a superb display of finesse and elegance, closing with fine, supple tannins. Though tempting to drink today, it will be even better in a few years and will drink well to age twenty. It is one of the vintage’s great wines. (AG)" (12/2006)
Starting Bid: $305.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Gaja "Conteisa" Langhe (94WE, 93WS, 92RP). Wine Enthusiast: "Elegantly perfumed, with touches of cinnamon, ground pepper, and dusty earth accenting notes of black cherries and chocolate. On the palate, there’s powerful plum and black cherry flavors, but also a strong minerality that adds an extra dimension to this compelling wine. " (07/2005)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97VN, 97WE, 95WS). Vinous: "The 2001 Monte Bello is a total turn-on. Racy and hedonistic, especially by Ridge standards, the 2001 makes a strong opening statement with its super-ripe fruit and explosive aromatics. Beams of supporting tannin lie in the background and serve to give the wine its overall shape. Hints of leather, mint and sweet tobacco add perfume throughout. Over the last few years, the 2001 has begun to develop quite a bit of more tertiary notes. It remains one of the most flamboyant (and ripest) Monte Bello ever made. (AG)" (06/2017)
Starting Bid: $685.05

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage ((98-100RP), 96W&S, 96WS, (90-93ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The black-colored 2001 Ermitage l’Ermite may be equal to the perfect 1996. Awesome levels of kirsch liqueur, licorice, and white flowers are followed by a superbly concentrated, etched, long, deep wine with multiple layers, a fabulous texture, and virtually perfect balance as well as harmony. Possessing great stature and intensity, it is a monumental achievement. (RP)" (06/2003)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 97JD, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More precise and focused than the more exuberant, sexy and rounded '00, the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is borderline perfection (I seriously considered adding a point here) and a monumental Chateauneuf du Pape that is drinking at point. Kirsch, olive tapenade, roasted meats, tobacco and assorted mature Grenache characteristics give way to a full-bodied, massively endowed, concentrated, gorgeously layered wine that's just about as good as it gets. I kept coming back to this over the evening and it got better and better with air, so while fully mature, it's not going anywhere soon. (JD)" (09/2015)
Starting Bid: $200.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Patrick Lesec "Marquis" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (91RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2, 000-case cuvee of 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Marquis is dominated by Grenache with dollops of Mourvedre and Syrah included. One-hundred percent of the stems were utilized during the fermentation. This superb offering reveals a deep ruby/garnet color in addition to a sweet bouquet of kirsch liqueur, roasted meats, figs, lavender, and freshly ground Provencal herbs. It is an unctuously rich, full-bodied, dense Chateauneuf du Pape with low acidity and tremendous fruit intensity. (RP)" (02/2004)
Starting Bid: $50.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (97VN, 95RP). Vinous: "Deep aromas of plum, mocha, iodine, loam, licorice, brown spices and graphite, accented by a hint of black pepper. Wonderfully juicy and light on its feet, conveying intriguing dark fruit, spice and saline mineral intensity and outstanding thrust. This wonderfully penetrating wine is still a baby. Finishes with firm but suave tannins and outstanding slowly building length. This wonderfully complete, classy wine boasts powerful structure and strong salinity and actually went into a shell in the glass. It should still be held for several years and it should go on for decades." (06/2020)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Masseto" Toscana (100DC, 100JS, 99WE, 99WS, 98RP, 98VN). James Suckling: "This is clearly a perfect wine and just now starting to open and show you its sheer beauty. It's balanced with fascinating rosemary and dark fruit character that turns to plums and light chocolate. The undertones on the nose remind me of walking through the Masseto vineyard during a cool summer's morning. It finally softens at the finish and shows a stunning fruit and acid tension. Finally softening and showing it true greatness." (07/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Rieussec, Sauternes (100JS, 100WS, 95VN). James Suckling: "This is a crazy wine! It’s sweet, but not sugary. Mushrooms, furniture wax, spices then dried oranges, lemons, pineapples, and just a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied, with great density and power, yet balanced and refined. So amazing, but give this five to six years still. Pull the cork in 2016. 145 grams RS." (05/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Heitz Cellar Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Spectator: "An elegant, supple style, with moderately rich currant, spice, cedar and herb flavors. (JL)" (11/2006)
Starting Bid: $60.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Superiore Bolgheri (96RP, 96VN, 95W&S, 95WS, 94ST). Vinous: "The 2001 Ornellaia is deep, unctuous and very ripe, with plenty of dark stone fruit, mocha, chocolate, licorice, black cherry and plum flavors. Exotic, rich and decidedly flamboyant, the 2001 is at its peak, where it is likely to remain for a number of years. (AG)" (01/2017)
