Bid on this bottle of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1, 580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvèdre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvèdre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. (JD) 97+" (08/2014)
Starting Bid: $92.00

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (1.5L) (98JD, 97VN, 96RP). Jeb Dunnuck: "There are a scant four barrels of the 2015 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock (97% Syrah and 3% Roussanne), and my money is on this meriting a triple-digit rating in 3-4 years. Incredible notes of crème de cassis, caramelized cherries, cedarwood, salted meat, and loads of flowery incense flow to a full-bodied, powerful, yet seamless red that does everything right. It’s going to benefit from short-term cellaring and cruise for 15 years or more. 98+" (10/2019)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 2017 Saxum "Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Red Blend (97VN, 95JD, 94RP, 93WS). Vinous: "Powerful, deeply pitched black and blue fruit, candied licorice, violet pastille and fruitcake flavors are braced by a spine of juicy acidity and a hint of smoky minerals. Stains the palate with densely packed cassis, bitter cherry and blueberry flavors that pick up exotic spice, cola and dark chocolate on the back half. This deeply concentrated wine shows remarkable clarity and litheness for its richness and finishes extremely long and spicy, with a resonating floral note and chewy, steadily building tannins. Starting Bid: $87.03

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It offers up gorgeous notes of black raspberries, cherries, cassis, ground herbs and flowers. This beauty hits the palate with incredible purity, fine tannin and an overriding sense of elegance and finesse, backed up by full-bodied richness and depth. (JD)" (08/2016)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this magnum of 2018 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Willow Creek District Rhône Blend (1.5L) (100JD). Jeb Dunnuck: "Leading off the 2018s from bottle, the perfect 2018 Rocket Block is mostly Grenache but includes 13% Mourvèdre and 11% Syrah, aged 29-30 months in mostly 300-liter barrels, plenty being new, although you wouldn’t know that by tasting this elixir. As good as any Châteauneuf du Pape or Grenache-based wine out there, it offers a brilliant array of sweet kirsch and blackberry fruits as well as white pepper, garrigue, and sandalwood. Full-bodied, ultra-pure, flawlessly balanced, and one of those wines that brings sensational richness and intensity while at the same time staying weightless and elegant, it should deliver the goods any time over the coming 15+ years." (09/2021)
Starting Bid: $350.00

Bid on this 6-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2015 Melka "Majestique - Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah, 2-bottles of 2016 Melka "Majestique - Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah, and 3-bottles of 2017 Melka "Majestique - Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah.
Starting Bid: $270.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Lindstrom Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is another huge, dark, imposing wine. Black olives, licorice, smoke and grilled herbs all come through nicely in this vivid Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2010 isn’t markedly different from the 2009 stylistically, suggesting it is the terroir that marks the wine to the greatest degree. There is a bit more tannin and overall structure here, though, so readers will have to be patient. Huge layers of dark fruit laced with exotic overtones of tar, incense and licorice saturate the palate on the finish. The only problem with the 2010 will be finding it, as production is down sharply from 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030. 95+ (AG)" (12/2012)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (100JD, 98RP, 98VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "As with the Bone Rock, there are only four barrels of the 2015 James Berry Vineyard Rocket Block, a blend of 89% Grenache and 11% Mataró, from a tiny parcel, that was all co-fermented. Offering the essence of kirsch liqueur, ground pepper, gravelly minerality, herbes de Provence, and licorice, it reminds me of a great vintage of Domaine de Marcoux’s Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. Massive and opulent on the palate, yet pure, elegant, and refined, with silky tannins, it’s as good as wine gets. Hats off to Smith for another magical wine." (10/2019)
Starting Bid: $260.00

Bid on this bottle of 2011 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 97VN, 95ST, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2011 Bone Rock is the wine where all of the Saxum signatures intersect with the personality of the year to the fullest. A healthy dollop of Roussanne gives the Bone Rock extraordinary aromatic lift and nuance to balance the intense varietal fruit. Layers of dark plums, sage, rose petal, tobacco, new leather and spice blossom in an extraordinary wine of precision, power and depth. Expressive floral notes are woven throughout, adding to the wine's beguiling, complex personality. This is a fabulous showing from Saxum made all the more notable by the challenges of the year. Bid on this bottle of 2016 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (98VN, 97JD, 93RP, 93WS). Vinous: "Saturated violet color. Highly expressive black and blue fruit liqueur, cherry-cola, exotic spice and potpourri scents show excellent clarity and pick up vanilla and licorice accents with air. Deeply concentrated, mineral-driven blueberry, bitter cherry and fruitcake flavors are complemented by a hint of candied flowers that builds on the back half. Broad and velvety in texture, finishing with emphatic, floral- and spice-dominated persistence and polished tannins that lend subtle grip. (JR)" (02/2020)
