2017 Voyager Estate "Girt by Sea" Cabernet Merlot Margaret River Western Australia (Previously $25) (Previously $25)
Top Pick!
93 points James Halliday: "It's matured in all-French oak and while it's mostly cabernet and merlot there's a small portion of petit verdot in the mix. It's medium weight and fluid with blackcurrant, milk chocolate and gravel notes slipping amiably through. It has shape and texture but integrity of fruit is key here. No mucking about; this is a good cabernet to drink. (CM)" (06/2021) 93 points James Suckling: "The spearmint and fresh-basil notes come through clearly, to buttress the currant and berry character on the palate. Medium to full body. Round,...

Top Pick!
92-93 points James Suckling: "This is a wine that shows lots of chocolate, tobacco and currants. Full body, with velvety tannins and a long finish. All there." (04/2011) 93 points Wine Advocate: "The Haut-Bergey 2010 has a very concentrated bouquet with dense blackberry, briary, crushed stone and tobacco on the nose that unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry. There is a lot of extraction here, but it is in tune with the acidity and the structured finish has plenty of vibrant red fruit and energy to see it thr...

Château Bois-Malot is located in St-Loubes and situated on the shoreline of the Dordogne River. The soils are clay and light limestone with a subsoil of red pebbles and clay. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and is aged for 18 months in tanks, followed by six months in barrels. If you like framboise you will adore this wine — 2015 was a huge success for this property. 99 points Jane Anson: "Muscular but finely-tuned, with a floral, rose-stem edge to Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant flavours that elevates this beyond its surrounding vintages, as is often the case with exceptional 2016s on the Left Bank. Give it time in the glass if you are going near it any time soon, and allow the brambled fruits to appear, with creamy black cherry and damson puree on full display finessed with pencil lead, plum pudding, liqourice and slate-strewn tannins that give a mouth-watering finish. Great stuff, this is one to savour over the long t...

2017 Spring Valley Vineyards "Frederick" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend (Previously $50) (Previously $50)
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I loved the 2017 Frederick, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot that’s all from the estate Spring Valley Vineyard. Lots of red and black fruits, leafy herbs, flowers, and foresty, earthy notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced 2017 with lots of varietal character, polished tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to keep for 10-15 years." (05/2021) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and polished, with an elegantly complex core that drives the black cherry and dusky spice flavors towa...

2021 Perrin + Dobbs "The Ace of Spades" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $40) (Elsewhere $40)
Top Pick!
A great little value in California Cabernet. With huge price increases taking their toll, many folks are looking south from Napa Valley to source hight quality fruit and Paso Robles at more reasonable price points. Perrin + Dobbs is a budget friendly Cabernet for everyday drinking. What you won't know from looking at the label (or the price tag) is that this was crafted by renowned winemaker Chad Alexander (Robert Craig, Hess Collection, V12 Vineyards), sourced from a single vineyard in the Estrella District of Paso Robles. 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A consistently perfect wine every time I've had it, the 2009 Château Pontet-Canet is the greatest wine from this address to date as well as one of the greatest Pauillacs out there. Still youthfully ruby/purple and with a gorgeous perfume of blackcurrants, lead pencil, graphite, crushed rocks, and damp earth, it's still youthful but is just now starting to show more nuance and complexity. Full-bodied on the palate, with a powerful, concentrated mid-palate, incredible depth of fruit, and flawless balance, Bordeaux simply does not g...

(02/2013) 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine that could easily be mistaken for a First Growth, the 2010 Rauzan-Ségla is an incredibly powerful, full-bodied wine by this estate’s standards, yet it nevertheless holds onto a terrific sense of elegance as well as perfect balance. 2012 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc
Top Pick!
Wine Advocate: "A decent effort in this tough vintage for some of the Médoc wines, Lanessan’s 2012 has some nice suppleness to the tannin, cranberry and black cherry fruit, plum and blackcurrants. It is medium-bodied with earth, herbs and spice. Drink it over the next decade. (RP)" (04/2015) K&L Notes: * A very fruity and tasty style. Another great value from what Robert Parker calls a "consistent property that turns out wines that are often very close to classified-growth quality."

96 points Decanter: "A fist of late summer cherries, raspberry and bilberry fruits set out their stall, all with the juicy character that confirms, even in a hot vintage like 2017, Opus can deliver balance and sculpted elegance. 2022 Daou Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
Top Pick!
Erin Brooks of Wine Advocate writes: "Daou's estate vineyards (which emphasizes Bordeaux varieties) are planted at high density on steep slopes in Adelaida District in a site once singled out by the great André Tchelistcheff for its potential. Grown in these soils and in this climate, Daou's vines produce grapes with an extraordinarily high phenolic content, to which the estate's winemaking has gradually adapted. Macerations are very short, with the wines finishing fermentation in barrel, but even so these inky, structured reds don't lack for color or su...

The Buselli Estate Oakville Cab is the definition of a hidden gem! After arriving in San Franciso in 1961, Italian immigrants Rosalia and Italo Buselli bought a small plot of land in the eastern hills of Oakville in 1988. In 1990 they planted 4 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is directly adjacent to Rudd Estate and also neighbors Dalla Valle, David Ramey's Pedregal Vineyard and Tierra Roja Vineyard. It's about as prime of a location as one could wish for in Napa Valley. For several decades the Buselli family farmed their vines and continued sup...

Full-bodied with great intensity and depth of fruit. The ultra-fine tannins display millions of layers. The texture on the palate is superb and lasts for minutes. Showing more and more minerality with time in the glass, it shuts down relatively quickly and is a wine for the long haul. Revealing a deep ruby/plum hue, the 2020 exhibits extraordinary aromatics of ripe black fruits, scorched earth, cold fireplace, and acacia flowers. An absolute blockbuster on the palate, this structured, full-bodied, massively concentrated Pessac builds incrementally, with ultra-fine tannins, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a great, great finish. 95 points Decanter: "Montrose always takes its time, and this is still very much young and austere but with a commanding presence. It's a classically structured Montrose showing crushed slate, tobacco and bilberry and there's no question that it has plenty of life ahead of it. The tannins are among the most chewy on display so far, the fruit tucked in between the layers of acidity, the overall feel one of subdued power. Rich and sumptuous, not overly so, but this has depth and chew to the fruit, a round, mouth-filling expression with the emphases on the chalky, chewy tannins. The 2019s can go two ways and this goes for more of a forward confidence, but still keeps the definition. This is a single vineyard Cabernet from Dos Robles Vineyard in the El Pomar sub-region of Paso Robles. The vines were planted in 1994 and are really in their prime at 25 years of age. The wine aged for 18 months in 40% new French and American oak, with the remainder in neutral barrels. This is big, powerful, inky Paso Robles Cabernet with great structure and length on the palate.

93 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon instantly impresses as it bursts open with seductive aromas of ripe dark currants and black cherries woven together with sweet baking spices, mocha, sage and hints of dusty minerals.
