2018 Ridge Vineyards "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Top Pick!
94 points James Suckling: "A beautiful, fresh red with blackberry, blueberry and some chocolate. Pine, light toffee and coffee undertones. Dried herbs, too. Medium to full body with intensity and richness. Dusty tannins. Savory finish. Very drinkable now, but even better in 2023. " (03/2021) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Intense aromas of blackberry and cassis meet with smoked meats, strong oak and light herbs on the toasty, layered nose of this bottling, which includes 21% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Chipped wood flavors decorate the dark-fruit and roas...

Jancis Robinson: "Smells of sweet black cherry and cassis. Quite juicy and fresh, with black cherry and Bing cherry fruit touched by a hint of blueberry and cassis. Excellent acidity and a note of green herbs add to the overall impression of freshness. Faint muscular tannins gain strength through the finish. 17.5/20 points (AY)" (09/2020) K&L Notes: This small, 7-acre vineyard on the steep slopes in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA has been a quiet success story for decades. Kathryn Kennedy was an original and a pioneer in every way, establishing one of th...

2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
98 points Vinous: "One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2016 Monte Bello has turned out just as beautifully as I hoped it would. Soaring aromatics, bright acids and mid-weight structure give the 2016 a super-classic feel. Clearly, the 2016 is very primary today, with plenty of bright red and purplish berry fruit. More than that, though, the 2016 pulses with energy and simply exceptional balance. Don't miss it! (AG)" (10/2019) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Bottled in March of 2018 and a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and ...

94 points Vinous: "Inky violet color. A highly complex bouquet displays smoke-accented cherry, cassis, pipe tobacco and incense aromas and an exotic spice overtone. Firm and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated dark berry, bitter cherry, floral pastille, chewing tobacco and succulent herb flavors that deepen, spread out and pick up a hint of cola with aeration. Seamless, focused, lithe and distinctly old school in character, in the best way, finishing impressively long and spicy, with building florality and dusty tannins lending closing grip. 1...

Fantastic, old-school Santa Cruz Mountain Cab from hillside vines planted in 1981 close to Ridge Vineyard's famed Monte Bello Vineyard. Growing in the same fractured Franciscan Shale, this wine delivers those classic, savory, mountain grown Cab qualities for a very reasonable price! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)

95 points James Suckling: "Blackberry, black cherry and baking spice on the nose. Full-bodied with firm, grippy tannins. Dried herbs and spice blend with a bit of cedar and pine. Earthy and savory, but still full of fruit. Well balanced with very good intensity. This will do well with some age. Best after 2026." 93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Fellom Ranch is the most reticent of the Arnot-Roberts Cabernets. Intensely savory and earthy, the 2018 offers quite a bit of intrigue, but it will require considerable cellaring. Cedar, spice, toba...

2017 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (3L)

97-100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a rough blend at present and is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. This is a rich, powerful version of this cuvée and boasts a black/blue color as well as a huge nose of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed rocks, and lead pencil shavings. With some serious structure, full-bodied richness, and a fleshy, opulent texture, this massive Monte Bello is going to be one for the ages." Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97W&S, 96VN), 1-bottle of 2006 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 94JD, 94RP), and 1-bottle of 2007 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97JS, 95JG, 95RP, 94ST, 94VN, 94W&S). Of the 2005 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2005 Monte Bello is beginning to drink very well indeed, revealing complex aromas of sweet currant fruit, rich soil, cedar cigar box and sweet spices. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 97JD, 96RP, 96W&S, 96WS, 95JS, 94DC). Vinous: "One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2016 Monte Bello has turned out just as beautifully as I hoped it would. Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2011 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (96W&S, (93-95RP), 94JS, 94VN, 92WS). Wine & Spirits: The cool 2011 season turned out a pristine vintage of Monte Bello, made from cabernet (88 percent) grown on a limestone-inflected ridge high above Silicon Valley, blended with some merlot and cabernet franc. The team at Ridge let the fruit recover for two weeks following an early October storm before picking, and were more aggressive in their extraction than normal, drawing as much color and structure as possible from the delicate fruit. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1974 David Bruce ''Estate'' Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. According to the wine label: "100% Cabernet sauvignon grapes from the Home vineyard... producing a deep, purple-red wine with full varietal characteristics in the nose and aftertaste. However, the balance on the palate is the thing that impresses me. Never-oak undertones round out the flavors to make an excellent accompaniment to stuffed leg of lamb, beef Wellington or the like."
Starting Bid: $345.00

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2012 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (98VN, 96JS, 94DC, 94RP, 94WS, 93W&S, 92CG). Vinous: The 2012 Monte Bello is one of the most harmonious young Monte Bellos I can remember tasting. Seamless and voluptuous through to the finish, the 2012 is showing beautifully today. Raspberry jam, pomegranate, white flowers, mint and spices are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. A wine with a distinctly red-hued profile, silky tannins, no hard edges and exceptional overall balance, the 2012 Monte Bello is simply magnificent. The 2012 is racy but also impeccably balanced throughout, with shades of the 2001 that come through from time to time. I won't be surprised if the 2013 and 2014 both eventually surpass it, but there is no denying that the 2012 is simply stunning today. This is one of the best showings yet for the 2012. (AG) (07/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Kathryn Kennedy "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE). Wine Enthusiast: "A thoroughly elegant, serious and yet immensely enjoyable wine that stays lively many days after opening, this bottling from a regional icon shows dried violets, dried strawberry, crushed pepper and touches of leather and soy on the wondrous nose. Lithe black plum and elderberry fruits ride along a tight but forgivingtannic structure, with support from crushed gravel, asphalt, potpourri, sandalwood and cedar flavors. *Editors' Choice, Enthusiast Top 100 of 2016* (MK)" (12/2016)
Starting Bid: $100.00
