Fynbos is an abundant floral system unique to the South African landscape that includes over 9,000 species of plant within its natural habitat. It is from this singular botanical phenomenon that Inverroche gently and sustainably procures the botanical foundation for their gins. Not only is this a well-crafted classic gin with vibrant juniper notes, citrus edges, and aromatic complexity—it is all that and a singular distilled expression of the complex and vibrant ecosystem of Fynbos! There's just nothing else like it. Inverroche Distillery was founded by...

98 points Tim Atkin: ""We pick the vintage," says Callie Louw, whose 2020 Porseleinberg is the second lightest in alcohol he's ever made at 13.6%. Fermented with 100% whole bunches using the submerged cap technique that transformed the wine in 2018, this is another scented, seamless stunner from Callie Louw. Aged in large foudres and 5% concrete eggs, it's a spicy, sappy, hauntingly elegant Syrah from a brutal site, with kelp, rose petal and fynbos aromas, juicy bramble and red berry fruit, fine tannins and a wonderful sense of energy. 2024-32" (11/...

Radley & Finch is a range of varietal wines made by Thinus Kruger and Pascal Schildt. The name was inspired from the famous book: To Kill a Mockingbird, but unlike the serious nature of the book, these wines aim to reflect a typical and light-hearted style of wine true to the most enjoyed grape varieties originating in South Africa. The motto: Optimism, beats the pants off pessimism. The goals is for the wines to be an honest path for wine drinkers to delve into the special world of premium South African wines over time. The majority of the grapes for th...

92 points James Suckling: "Dark cherries, plums, chocolate, grilled herbs and cigar box on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, creamy tannins. Succulent, fruity and delicious with lingering chocolate notes. Merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec and petit verdot. Sustainable. " (01/2022) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a medium-bodied blend of 43.5% Merlot and 41% Cabernet Sauvignon with a drop of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Aromatic herbs, plum and coffee open the nose. The palate is fresh, with lively acidity and medium tannins balancing intense ...

93 points James Suckling: "Perfumed aromas of white peaches, lily and beeswax. Medium-bodied with oily texture. Rather supple with very good concentration. Mineral with an almost saline character. Pure, transparent and crystal clear. From vines that are up to 70 years old. 62% chenin blanc, 10% clairette blanche, 9% viognier, 7% grenache blanc, 6% verdelho and 6% semillon. Drink or hold." (10/2022) 93 points Vinous: "The 2021 Old Vines White comes from vines up to 70-years old built around Chenin Blanc, 62% in this vintage, barrel fermented in 500-litr...

95 points Vinous: "The 2022 Swanesang is pure Syrah grown on granite soils, matured in concrete eggs, and 20% in 400-liter barrels. The potent bouquet is quite arresting, with dark berry fruit, Lapsang Souchang, crushed iris flower and lavender scents. You won't forget these aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins. Very mineral-driven, taut and focused, very elegant yet persistent on the classically styled finish. I cannot wait to see how this will age in bottle, though it will be difficult to resist. (NM) " (08/2023)

90 points Vinous: "The 2021 Chenin Blanc Experimental comes from 25-40 year-old vines in decomposed granite soils in Paarl, matured in 228-litre used French oak. This has a neutral nose with fleeting scents of orchard fruit and honeysuckle. The palate is pinned upon a keen line of acidity, not an intense Chenin Blanc, and it might need a little more substance on the mid-palate, but it bursts with freshness and has an appealing waxy texture on the finish. Fine. (NM)" (09/2022)

91 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and open-knit, this harmonious red integrates fine tannins with a fragrant overtone of cured tobacco, featuring baked currant and fig, fresh and loamy earth, black licorice twist and milled pepper. Fresh and focused on the finish, where the tobacco note lingers on. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. (AN)" (08/2022)

93 points Decanter: "Chris Alheit is known for his diverse array of old vine Chenins from vineyards across the Cape but this white blend is a little different. He describes it thus: ‘One wine, one place, a few different grapes.’ Essentially it’s the product of a single vineyard planted in 2010 with Roussanne, Chenin, Chardonnay, Verdelho and Muscat. The resulting wine is fresh and creamy with tropical fruit and fynbos on the nose and an exotic plate of pineapple chunks and bruised pear. Textured with a tense, high-acid finish." Inverroche takes its name from the combination of two words that pay homage to their Scottish ancestry, referencing both their Celtic and Gaelic backgrounds. The Scottish word “Inver” meaning ‘a confluence of water’ and the French word “Roche” meaning ‘rock or stone’. Inverroche Distillery was founded by Lorna Scott and her family and has grown from strength to strength in the local community of Still Bay in the Western Cape of South Africa. In just 6 years, the distillery has grown from a small home industry to a flourishing and pioneering craft distill...

94 points Vinous: "The 2021 Syrah Stars In The Dark comes from two parcels, one on clay and the other on Koffieklip soil, matured for 10 months in neutral 228 and 300-litre Ooak barrels. Winemaker Sam Lambson told me that he is seeking to express the rotundone element of the variety, essentially the "peppery" element. It certainly comes across here with lovely red berry fruit, white pepper, fennel and thyme. It's quite understated with a degree of transparency. That theme follows through on the palate that is beautifully balanced with fine tannins, elega...

The terrific canned cocktails from Red Saint use original blends of teas from around the world and their own unique recipes. This isn't someone just trying to make a canned margarita or G&T. This is what the RTD revolution should be about - interesting drinks that just work from a can. Only 5% ABV and 110 calories but a hell of a lot better and more interesting than a Whiteclaw.
