Signatory has long been one of the preferred independent bottlers on the market. For almost three decades now, we've been selling Signatory because their cask selection process is second to none in the industry. They also have a knack for building incredible collections of rare casks, so walking through their warehouse is an absolute dream. As you pass Bowmore from the 70s and Port Ellen, you'll stumble by Dallas Dhu and Rosebank. Yet it's some of the modern stocks that are most shocking! Highland Park on its own is pretty rare outside of distillery bott...

The wonderful Glengoyne distillery is always one to keep an eye. Built in 1833, it was sold by Archiball Macllelan to the Lang Brothers where it remained until 1965 when it was purchased by a predecessor organization to Edrington Group. In 2003, it was sold to blenders and bottlers Ian Macleod and they've rightfully made Glengoyne a worldwide brand. They're famous for their sherried malt and it's rare to see a butt make it out of their warehouses under anyone else's label. That's why we were so excited to see this pop up and when we tasted it we knew we ...

A good nicely aged Mortlach is something we wish we could offer more readily. Make it stupidly drinkable and at an unbelievably generous price, and we’ll drop nearly everything else. This attractive little refill hogshead is a dreamy, offering malt driven style from the Beast of Dufftown. You can visit a bona fide Fairy Village in Dufftown these days or the famous Giant's Chair, but the wonderful distillery in the gully by the stream to the south of town is arguably the town's most magical spot. The Mortlach makes an extremely unique malt. The distillati...

The very first Hearach Single Cask ever to be released in the US and one of the first-ever bottled worldwide. If you haven't been paying attention, the little distillery on the Isle of Harris is producing some of the finest whisky in Scotland. Produced in extremely small batches in and with a focus on quality and character overall. This single cask was filled into an extremely high-quality single bourbon barrel. Lightly peated, its ocean aging environment gives this whisky an incredibly depth, but its main focus is balance. The wispy smoke and rich toast...

Port Dundas closed in 2010, but small stocks still remain. The first single grain Scotch in the Orphan Barrel line, which seeks to highlight stocks of closed distilleries that remain in Diageo system. The distillery was established in 1810 and became a key component in the Johnnie Walker Blends for centuries. Per the producer: "The aroma starts with a burst of caramel and notes of baked sugar backed by the taste of crisp fruit and light toasted oak. The fruit forward flavor is blended with hints of butterscotch vanilla which carry through to the finish."

The Old Malt Cask line of single cask single malts was created by the Laing brothers in 1998. They've since bottled countless legendary single malt and continue to surprise and delight connoisseurs with their diverse range of exceptionally selected single casks. Unlike K&L's Exclusive single casks, Old Malt Cask is traditionally bottled at 100 proof, but always without chillfiltration or coloring of any kind. The Laings selected a diverse range of malts to celebrate 25 years in the single cask business, picking out choice casks and bottling them in the g...

We've waited almost 2 decades for this expression from the special distillery on Lochindaal. The beautiful Classic Laddie is all grown up now and their core range officiall expended. In conjunction with the release of a new sexy bottle shape, the famed "unpeated" Islay distillery is offering this exceptional, authentic expression of its most mature modern stock at an altogether reasonable price. Designed to capture the house style in its purest form, the 18 year is almost entirely made up of first fill ex-bourbon with just a handful of specially selected...

This 65th Dramfool masterpiece was distilled at the Macduff Distillery, filled 07/03/2012, and bottled 04/07/2023 at 11 Years Old. Tasting notes from Dramfool founder Bruce Farquhar: COLOR: Vibrant ruby gold. AROMAS: Waves of raisins, fresh figs and caramel, followed up with creamy marzipan, beeswax and old-school furniture polish. The merest hint of freshly picked strawberries on a crisp Summer’s morning. With water, there is lashings of iced Camp Coffee, with more fruity raisins, figs and beeswax polish. This unique 21 year old single malt starts intense and sweet on the nose, with aromas of banana and figs and a rich toffee sweetness imparted by the Scotch's final four months in barrels once used for Caribbean rum. On the palate, this is soft with brisk, peppery flavors, a touch of smoke and hints of vanilla, ginger, lime, spice and new leather. Warming and spicy on the finish, this Scotch is luxurious, the perfect complement to a crackling fire on a rainy night.

An absolute gem in the Perfect Fifth line up. At 96 points it's close to the legendary Highland Park they've also bottled, but for half the price. Jim Murray says, "Anyone who remembers the old Springbank 25-year-olds of the early 1990s will recognize this aroma as a direct descendent - indeed it is near enough identical in both weight and character. The huge, nuggety oak is faultless (this must have come from a cask which had been seasoned in the old - virtually lost - style). Salt dominates but there are dried apricots and spiced pear, too. Meanwhile t...

Whisky Advocate: "Earthy notes of dried leaves, wet wool, and a hint of maltiness start things off on the nose, then citrus and red apple. The palate is sweet and balanced, offering warm apple tart, cinnamon, cooked blueberries, raisins, toffee, and Christmas cake, with a slight and appealing hint of soapiness. A lengthy finish brings chocolate cake, glazed orange, pfeffernusse cookies, and winter spice. A delicious holiday warmer. (DF, Winter-2021)" K&L Notes: Glenfarclas is special for more than its stunning location. One of the last family distilleri...

First introduced more than a quarter of a century ago in 1997, Ardbeg 17 Years Old was one of the initial bottlings to emerge from the distillery after a period of closure. This malt possessed a unique combination of delicacy and unmistakable Ardbeg character. It quickly captured the hearts of the committee and set an extraordinary standard for the future of Ardbeg whisky production. When Ardbeg retired the 17 in 2004, no one expected that plans would quietly unfold for its triumphant return. Esteemed Master Distiller, Dr. Bill Lumsden, meticulously re...

Jim McEwan: "COLOUR: Bright Golden Yellow. AROMAS: Classic Speysider with a twist due to the cask capacity. It’s the spirit that claims the high ground and it needs a drop of water to really appreciate its quality. The crispy sweetness of the barley works well with the fresh fruity bouquet created by long fermentation and slow distillation and the small cask is providing a beautiful oak halo which is lovely. TASTE: The satiny texture is biscuit sweet with a fruity foundation. The little cask is providing an opening for the malt and the quality of the dis...

Jim McEwan: "COLOUR Medium Yellow. AROMAS: Opens beautifully on a fruit flight from the sherry cask. Just ahead of the sweet barley sugar from this non peated Islander is an olfactory delight and a rare release! Its time maturing in a stones throw from the Sound of Islay gives a freshness that highlights a maritime influence and highlights the fruity overture. Also a piquant oak halo really works well with the marine influence. It’s an aromatic delight! Released in 2022, the Balvenie 16 year old is matured in American oak before being transferred to French casks that once held Pineau des Charentes, an aromatic white wine fortified with grape brandy that often has honeyed, fruity tones that evoke sherry. The distiller says that on the nose, "beautifully balanced light floral notes from lotus and geranium flowers dance between hints of fresh meadow grass and pealed apple skin." While on the palate, "An energising zing from tangy lemon rind and grapefruit meet the delicate subtle sweetness of glazed fruits...

Whisky Advocate: "Aged in American oak, Pedro Ximénez, and oloroso casks. The nose is nutty, with treacle, and developing geranium aromas. Prunes and dates, plus almonds on the buttery palate. Drying in the finish, with nutmeg and wood spice. (GS, Winter 2018)" K&L Notes: The GlenAllachie Distillery was built in 1967 outside of Aberlour. It quietly produced fine single malt without much fanfare until it's closure by Invergordon Distillers in 1987. Eventually, the distillery was sold to Pernod Ricard and began churning out malt again for their range of ...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet is austere and leathery with curious aromas of beeswax, vegetable oil and oaky resin. Aftertaste is deep and unabashedly sweet and honeyed. *Superb, Highly Recommended*" (12/2009) Whisky Advocate: "Both bourbon and sherry casks were used for aging. Rites of Passage by Epicurean Selection has fired the opening salvo in the war for the future of independent bottling. Delivering casks of the utmost quality with respectable age stagements and carefully managed wood selection at prices that are fair is no easy task and many new bottles don't even seem to be trying on the last part. This 13 year from Mannochmore shows, more than the Blue Chip distilleries of ROP's other releass, what exactly we can look forward to in the long run.
