Mas Codina is a 40-hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Reserva Cava was hand-harvested from 25- to 40-year-old vines and estate-bottled. Though it does not say it on the label, the current disgorgement is based entirely on the 2015 harvest. Vines are planted in calcareous and sandy clay soils which keep the wine minerally and lively. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, and is aged on its lees for a minimum of two years before disgorgement. Varietals include Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. 100%...

Produced from primarily estate-grown Verdejo, just outside the village of La Seca ("the cradle of Verdejo" as the sign states!), this is a wonderful expression of Rueda. Verdejo, in its refreshing, cleanly fruited profile and tropical leanings, mimics Sauvignon Blanc, without any overt green notes or the occasional blowsiness of some New World examples. Ayre's aromas of white peach and fruit cocktail lead to a palate of fresh fruits, with some minerality adding further structure and focus.

2019 Zudugarai "Amats" Getariako Txakolina
Top Pick!
Amats is both the brand name of the Txakoli as well as one of Zudugarai's vineyards. It's a beautiful vineyard, a sandy substrate covered in naturally growing green cover between the rows, with the Cantabrian Sea in full view to the north. Produced from Hondarribi Zuri grapes, this is classic Txakoli: zippy, crisp, tart green apple flavors are enlivened by a lovely sparkle from the CO2 retained in tank during fermentation.

2019 Bodegas Muga Blanco Rioja
Top Pick!
92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Blanco is terrific, with a fresh, crisp, yet still textured and concentrated style. Lots of crushed citrus, white flowers, white grapefruit, and a touch of minerality all define the bouquet, and it's beautifully balanced, with bright acidity and clean, dry finish." (10/2020) 92 points James Suckling: "A layered, fruity white with sliced cooked lemon and some apple. Hints of hot stones. It’s full-bodied and dense with plenty of fruit. " (09/2020) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A thick texture carries juicy flavors of apple...

Jesús Puelles is one of the most talented vignerons in Rioja. Hailing from a long line of vineyard worker/owners, Puelles knows the terruño in his little slice of land in the Rioja Alta town of Abalos. Most of the grapes for his red wines come from his own 20 hectares, which are north-facing and located at 600 meters in altitude, affording the visitor with one of the most dramatically beautiful views of Rioja's main mountain ranges: the Sierra Cantabria mountains immediately to the north and the Sierra de la Demanda mountains to the south. This white win...

96 points James Suckling: "A linear and tight white with superb lemon curd, apple, lemon and creme caramel. Full body, phenolic tension and density give this white form and beauty. Extremely long and flavorful." (12/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of two vintages I tasted of the single-vineyard white, the just-bottled 2015 Capellanía was cropped from a warm and healthy year, and the wine matured in new French oak barrels for 15 months. Like it happened with the rosé, the two vintages I tasted of this white—2015 and 2014—are also ver...

An excellent value in Spanish white wine, the Verdeal Rueda shows just how versatile and appealing the Verdejo grape can be. Bright, fresh, elegant, and well structured. Delicious notes of green apples, peaches, and apricots predominate with intense aromas of herbs and white flowers. It has a long finish with aftertaste of stone fruits, aromatic herbs and faint spice.

92 points James Suckling: "So much pink-grapefruit and fresh white-peach character on the nose. Medium-bodied and very energetic with lively fruit and acidity. Fun to taste. Drink now." (10/2020)

Produced from 100% estate-grown, organically cultivated Xarel-lo, from their oldest plants (40+ years old), this is the taste of well farmed Xarel-lo: salty, with a touch of the ever-present fennel that grows wildly in the zone. The Garriga family, with Toni and Jordi currently at the helm, have been farming this land since the 17th century. While their cava is among our most popular sparkling wines in the store, it is absolutely worth emphasizing that their still wines are also incredibly well made and delicious.

The birthplace for Garnacha Blanca is Terra Alta. It’s two closest neighbouring wine regions are Montsant and Priorat. The secret to Terra Alta success with white varietals while its neighbors are so famous for their reds, limestone. 95% of the soils here are limestone, the secret sauce to some of the worlds great white wines. Vinos Piñol is a family run estate that makes only a small amount of wines from their certified organic vineyards. The Portal Blanco is 85% old vine Garnacha Blanca with the remainder being Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, that wa...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Albariño was very expressive after some time in the glass. This is their house wine, produced with grapes from the 11 hectares and up to 164 plots they work in the Salnés up to 22 kilometers from their winery in Meaño. The wine is very elegant in 2018; it's vibrant and tasty, with the granite sapidity and the salty finish. I tasted a bottle from the end of June 2019, when the wine had had longer time sur lie, and the year in bottle does it good. 70,000 bottles produced. (LG)" (06/2020) K&L Notes: Do Fe...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The eponymous 2016 Tricó is a classic Albariño from 25- to 35-year-old vineyards on poor granite soils that give low yields. The full clusters are pressed, then the juice is let to settle before fermenting at low temperature with neutral yeasts. This stays at least one year in tank before it's bottled. These are serious and subtle wines, not exuberant or showy, with good ripeness and very high compensating acidity, but the wines don't feel acidic. This has the advantage of time and has developed further complexit...

To honor the 100th anniversary of this well known Rioja white, Cune decided to hit their cellars and uncork a number of vintages to see how they had aged. It turns out that the bottlings from the late 1950's to the early 1970's had aged fantastically, and the person who had made these landmark wines was none other than our friend, the legendary Ezequiel "El Brujo" García! They brought in Ezequiel, who in turn brought in his copious notes, and contributed his expertise and years of experience to the project. This Rioja white is a delicious throwback to Cu...

Pérez Barquero "Gran Barquero" Amontillado Montilla Moriles (500ml)
Back In Stock!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Amontillado Gran Barquero is an impressive 25-30 years old. It wears a dark amber robe and a subtle, elegant and focused nose. It’s an Amontillado of finesse, with biological, salty notes and roasted almonds, close to the Fino character. The palate shows a medium-bodied wine of a velvety texture, fine acidity and clean, focused flavors, It represents superb value for the quality it delivers. (LG)" (08/2013) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "Pérez Barquero was founded in 1905, but the name was known only locally...

La Nevera is a wine blended and packaged in Aldeanueva, Rioja, and it consists primarily of Viura, the backbone to Rioja white wines. It is crisp, mineral, refreshing and (the best part!) available exclusively as a three liter bag in box. The bag in box, long a popular format in Europe, has finally started to catch on here. And with good reason, as it allows you to open a box and enjoy its contents for days, even weeks, with no drop off in flavor. For the equivalent of $6.25 per bottle, this is one white value that you do not want to miss! Keep it around...

This is a sherry experience not to miss. This wine starts off as a Manzanilla. It spent 8 years under flor and then another 6 years aging in oxidatively. Yes, the math does not add up, but this is not a math class and they don't have to show all of their work, especially when the wine tastes as good as this. It is bracing, that core of Manzanilla, but also rich on the nose, with an incredibly detailed nutty aroma that ranges from almonds to walnuts. In the mouth it is a powerful, focused wine with a subtle cinnamon component, completely dry and incred...

Founded in 1882, Roger Goulart is in the village of San Esteve, province of Barcelona. A quintessential Cava producer, Goulart pioneered the traditional method sparkling wine production in Spain. They source their fruit from 50 acres of mostly Xarel.lo, indigenous to Penedès and the main variety in their blending, which are harvested at dawn to avoid any oxidation, guarantee freshness. Xarel·lo is a grape of character and structure, which makes it suitable for long aging cavas. Roger Goulart sparkling wines benefit from long contact and interaction with ...

This is a very special Albariño, very small production (1120 bottles produced!). You might have noticed that it is labeled Galicia. This is a single vineyard, one hectare, located near the town of A Cañiza, which is not part of any Galicia DO. It is located between Rias Baixas and Ribeiro, and the wine tastes just like that. It has the precision, cut and minerality of the former and carries the weight, aromatics and forwardness of the later. The grapes are farmed organically with some biodynamics, indigenous yeast fermentation and bottles with low s...

The Bodegas Casa Monte Pío is a small family winery that was established in 1979. It is located in the Salnes Valley which is considered the heart of the Rias Baixas region. The vines are planted in primarily granitic sandy soils and they are farmed organically with some biodynamic principles. They are obsessed with the healthy of their soils and vines. This obsession is seen in the ripeness and purity of their fruit which is contrasted by the classic mineral salinity which the region is known for.

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Allende Blanco, mostly Viura with some Malvasía Riojana (Alarije), fermented with indigenous yeasts in new French oak barrels, where it aged with the lees and bâtonnage twice per week for seven months and a further seven months without the lees after it was racked. It has a classical oaked white Rioja nose, with some nutty undertones, spice, dried flowers and a hint of petrol. The palate has focused, intense flavors, and the oak is nicely integrated. 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2017....

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I also got a last-minute bottle of the Saca Mayo 2019 of the NV Fino Tradición, which had just been bottled, and it really felt like I was drinking it straight from the bota. In fact, the palate had some tenderness that I didn't notice in the other bottlings, and the word that came to my head when drinking it was spherical, a round wine with no edges, especially after it had been in the glass for a couple of hours. The way to compare these bottlings is to pour a glass of each and follow its evolution for a couple...

97 points James Suckling: "Forget fashion and go for gold! Enormously complex, toasted and caramelized nuts, married to wonderful creaminess that is all lit up by acidity that’s so supernaturally vibrant that you barely realize this has any sweetness. Very long, subtle and uplifting finish. Drink now." (12/2018) 95 points Decanter: "Layers of mouthwatering flavours; dried fruits, peanut brittle, cream caramel, coffee, cedar and a beautifully luscious texture with freshness, lift and a long, rich finish. *Gold Medal Decanter World Wine Awards 2018*" (04...

Wine Spectator: "Shows a light piney hint before bright chamomile and honeysuckle aromas fill in. Rather nervy through the palate, featuring a finish of green almond and fennel notes. (Web-2014)" K&L Notes: A wonderful expression of Manzanilla, the La Cigarrera always comes to us very fresh, expressing the briny, sea air quality for which these wines are known. It is bone dry, appley and has suggestions of loquat fruit and pits, with terrific complexity, no doubt due to the bodega's prime location in the "barrio bajo" section of Sanlucar, as well as its...

Made with 100% palomino fino grapes from the vineyards Cartera and Macharnudo Alto, in one of the noblest vine areas or ‘pagos’ in the Sherry District, located four kilometers West-Northwest of Jerez de la Frontera. The Fino En Rama Navazos ferments with local yeasts and, after a small fortification so as to increase its alcohol content from ca. 12.5% to 15% abv, the wine enters the solera system where it has aged under a layer of flor for an average of five years. It is therefore a well aged fino, indeed far from the ten or more years of age of Equipo ...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Intense, with roasted almond, Brazil nut and walnut notes lending this a slightly burly aspect, while gunpowder tea, bitter orange and almond accents add a taut feel through the finish. This is a distinctive, edgy version that Sherry geeks will dig. Drink now. 1,500 cases made" (02/2016) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Faraon Oloroso is aromatic with aromas of hazelnuts, walnuts, and raisins and a broad, dry flavor profile." 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos Solera Reserva reveals a medium amber hue along with a nutty, honeyed, dry personality with great acid...The portfolio of under $25 a bottle selections represents remarkable value for their complex, well-made personalities. Lustau includes a bottling date code as purchasers would want to buy Finos and Manzanillas as young as possible. It is difficult to describe the glories of sherry, but I’ll try. These Solera Reservas are all great reference points at a low price point ...

95 points James Suckling: " To anyone who knows British Christmas pudding, the dense flavors of dried fruit, burnt sugar and spices will be nothing new. However, the sheer density of flavor will be something new to many, as will the stunning acidity at the finish. " (08/2018) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Ripe aromas of apricot, raisin and chocolate offer complex notes of dried cheese and sweat, making this anything but usual and normal. A jacked palate is racy and untamed, with bright acidity that's uncommon for wines this sweet. Chocolate, cinnamon, nu...

92 points James Suckling: "This is a very pretty white with dense, ripe fruit and freshness at the same time. It’s full-bodied and flavorful with a creamy texture and lively acidity." (11/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This white is sneaky intense. Subtle aromas of chalk and heather give way to expressive flavors of pear, mango and sea salt. Well-integrated acidity provides a firm structure that gives way to a long, juicy finish. (TM)" (12/2020) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Maruxa Godello was produced with purchased grapes and those fro...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always sold later than the red, the 2014 Viñas de Gaín Blanco is similarly a blend from different vineyards in Laguardia and Elvillar. It was partly fermented in oak for some 30 days and aged in stainless steel with lees for 24 months. It has very little influence from the élevage and is quite fruit-driven, with a lightish palate. It's quite straightforward, pleasant and easy to drink. This is a selection of the white grapes in the old vineyards. 6,000 bottles. (LG)" (06/2019) K&L Notes: White Artadi? I am shoc...

" (07/2019) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fruit-driven and young 2018 Font de la Figuera Blanco has aromas of white fruit and a touch of fennel and Mediterranean herbs. It's fresh and has nice balance, balsamic flavors and a dry, faintly bitter finish. It ends quite tasty and with focused, pure flavors. (LG)" (08/2019)

Made from Macabeo and Xarel-lo from vines up to 50 years old in the Penedes region, best known for Cava (Avinyo also makes good Cavas) this is a delicious, thirst quenching wine that hints at Muscat's floral and herbal, tarragon-like qualities, but also shows great cut, with delicious citrus and appley fruits, refreshing fizziness, and a dry finish that begs another (large) sip. Think Txakoli, but with a touch lower acidity and an appealing faintly herbal quality.

Composed primarily of Treixadura, this delicious Galician white has terrific freshness as well as a lovely rounded texture, with yellow fruit flavors and subtle minerality. Goto de Gomariz carefully farms their vines organically, with some Fukuoka influence as well, so they do not spray herbicides or insecticides, and use the bare minimum of treatments to keep the vines healthy. One of the leading producers in a D.O. where there the qualitative bar continues to rise each year.

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Consistently one of the finest traditional manzanillas you'll ever taste, La Gitana might as well be the Webster's entry for the category: pale straw color, salty seaside freshness and a dry, tangy, yet rich flavor. And that flavor lingers after each sip, too, like sea spray." (04/2005) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A bright, high-pitched style, showing tangy quinine and chamomile notes laced with talc and fleur de sel flavors. Very dry, brisk, stony-edged finish. An absolute delight. (JM)" (05/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advoc...

Honorío Rubio is a Riojano white wine specialist. In a land best known for its incredibly age-worthy reds, among many die-hards out there it is undoubtedly the traditional whites which represent Rioja's finest and most original wines. These days, outside of Lopez de Heredia (whose whites are increasingly rare in the market) and the odd older bottles of Ygay Blanco, traditional white Rioja is tough to find. That's why we are so excited to be selling the wines of our newest DI producer, Honorío Rubio. Based in the high altitude Rioja Alta village of Cordov...

From a solera begun in 1991, this spectacular Sanluqueño Amontillado contains wine of an average age of 15-20 years old. Blended in, there is a tiny amount of very old wine discovered in the bodega shortly after its purchase. It had been sealed in plaster, as the former owner was apparently determined to keep this pre-phylloxera wine, unblended, all to himself! Aromatics reveal salty flor, followed by toffee. The wine is racy on the palate, until it turns rich and succulent, with buttered and roasted pecan and almond flavors. This is really quite good. (...

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Don't be put off by the intensely resinous scent; this is a complex, classic manzanilla, with dark nut notes in the intense flor-driven flavor and a brisk sea-salt edge. Under the flor, hints of lemon zest, dried apple and almonds merge in a delicate balance. Ideal with nothing more than a handful of marcona almonds." (04/2005) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Very high-pitched, with bright chalk, chamomile, salt and lemon seed notes. The vigorous finish has serious cut. This lastest saca shows a lovely mix of almond flavors, salt and white fruit, all melding into the wine’s deep mineral notes. It’s substantial enough to serve in the company of blackened redfish." Reliable and *Good Value* (JH)" (04/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Talking about which, the NV Tio Pepe Fino is an icon of Sherry wine. Produced from Palomino grapes aged in the Tio Pepe solera for an average of four years under flor. It has a light nose of dried flowers, almonds and olives, in a subtle way and a dry palate dominated by the chalky notes. Light and easy to drink, it is a good introduction to Fino Sherr...

This minimally filtered, en rama Fino comes from a fairly large solera in Jerez, and is characteristically the richest and fullest in body of the "3 En Rama" series. Fortunately for all of us fans of "en rama," or minimally filtered and minimally processed Sherries, Lustau bottles three excellent examples from their extensive holdings. These bottlings present a real opportunity to enjoy a young Fino or Manzanilla in a state that most faithfully approximates a barrel drawn solera sample (which, of course, is Sherry at its most romantic and its most delici...

Here is a crisp, bright, virtually unfiltered Manzanilla, the lighest on its feet of Lustau's newly released "3 en Rama" series of Sherries. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A burnished orange-meets-tawny color and lively aromas of caramel and apricot get this oloroso off to a fine start. A richly intense palate with bold acidity offers plenty of depth, while toasty flavors of coffee and walnuts finish with notes of chocolate and café latte. Overall, this is stylish and a cut above. *Editors’ Choice* (MS)" (03/2021) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A fortified sherry (it’s fortified to prevent the growth of Flor), the NV Alvear Oloroso Asunción (100% Pedro Ximénez) is a beautiful effort that has a great ...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The regular Albariño is one of the most reliable among the more available wines, and it tends to show well early on and also age nicely for a few years in bottle. The 2019 Albariño de Fefiñanes feels unusually expressive and ready, very approachable, with a harmonious nose but with none of that reductive character often found in the early bottled wines. It's floral, varietal, aromatic and clean, with a balanced palate combining volume with great freshness. I tend to like this wine two or three years after the har...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current vintage of the special cuvée is the 2008 Kripta, a classical blend of the local grapes Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada aged in contact with the lees in bottle for a long time, no less than five years, during which time the bottle is closed with a cork (it's usually a crown stopper). Apparently this gives the wine a different character and is the way it was traditionally done. This is a polished Cava with yeast and brioche aromas and a soft palate with clean, developed flavors and integrated acidity. A ...

It starts with notes of candied almonds, coconut palm syrup and caramel. The hint of salinity lends complexity and freshness, without diminishing that delicate, pleasing sweetness." (06/2009) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Just add this oloroso to the growing list of excellent Sherries from Lustau. This one is tellingly nutty on the nose, thus the hazelnut and walnut flavors are expected as they become part of...

The result puts the sweetness of the PX in front, with flavors of plum jam and tobacco. The salinity of the Oloroso brings freshness and fine minerality that play softly in the background.
