Domaine Jean-Bon was started by a family with three brothers, all of whom were named Jean crazily enough. It turns out, however, that one of the Jeans was liked more than the other two, so they named the estate after him: Jean-Bon, or the "good" Jean. Jean-Bon produces about four to six barrels of Armagnac per year, all distilled from Baco (although they’ve started now with a bit of Ugni Blanc). The spirits are absolutely incredible values, almost like Baraillaon in their richness, but with more sweetness from the new oak. The 21 year old 1999 vintage fo...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of blackberry, mineral and mint on the nose. Full-bodied, with plenty of fruit and racy, polished tannins on the finish. This can go on for many years. But why wait? (Web Only-2010)" Jancis Robinson: "Rather luscious nose and thick and dense. Lots of fruit. Still quite dry finish. Muscular. Trying to punch at top vintage weight. Medium body - a real success and very good value. (JR) 17/20 points" (09/2009) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An exotic perfume of tapenade, new saddle leather, damp earth, black curra...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (95RP, 94DC, 94WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved '1999' on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla. It is medium-bodied, with extravagant layers of richness yet little weight, and a finish that is all sweetness, ripeness, and harmony. This extraordinary Lafite increasingly appears to be a modern day clone of the majestic 1953. A mere one-third of the crop made it into the grand vin!(RP)" (04/2002)

1999 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru 12-Pack (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is still enough wood to notice on the otherwise wonderfully elegant and ultra-spicy nose of fresh and ripe hoisin, anise, black cherry and cassis suffused nose that is just beginning to display background notes of secondary development. The medium weight flavors are intense, pure and still moderately structured with evident breed before terminating in a beautifully long and balanced finish. This beautifully stylish effort is right on the edge of its peak drinkability and easily could be enjoyed now though perso...

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers". 90-93 points Pierre Rovani writing for the Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby-colored 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers exhibits blackberry and licorice aromas. Medium to full-bodied and chewy, it exhibits jammy blackberry, cassis liqueur, and freshly laid road tar flavors. It is thick and dense, yet zesty and fresh. It possesses copious quantities of ripe, structure-giving tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012." (06/01)
Starting Bid: $92.00
