2018 Domaine des Remizières "Cuvée Christophe" Crozes-Hermitage
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Christophe is one of the flagship releases from this estate. It always has a modern style, yet I never feel it loses any classic Northern Rhône character. Deep blue/purple, with a beautiful nose of cassis, spiced meat, pepper, and graphite, it's medium to full-bodied and has integrated background oak, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It shows the ripe, sexy style of the vintage yet has acidity and tannins. " (11/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sprays of cinnamon, clove and cedar a...

90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Crozes Hermitage les Pierrelles made for a great start to my visit at this standout estate. It's grapey and intense, with hints of cedary wood accenting blueberry and blackberry fruit. It's full-bodied and supple, finishing lush and even a bit warm. It should be a lot of fun to drink as a young wine. (JC)" (01/2020) K&L Notes: The roots of the Belle family run deep in Hermitage and extend back to the 18th century when the family began acquiring vines in the region. When descendant Louis Belle assum...

2017 Domaine Belle "Cuvée Louis Belle" Crozes-Hermitage
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvée Louis Belle is a winner. Lots of black raspberries, toasted spice, new leather, and savory peppery notes emerge from the glass, and it's ripe, rounded, and sexy on the palate, with light tannins and plenty of upfront accessibility. It should keep for at least 7-8 years. I always love tasting through the releases from Domaine Belle, and they always show classic yet clean, pure profiles that are a joy to drink. While the domaine is located in Crozes Hermitage, they have small holdings in Hermitage an...

2018 Domaine des Bosquets "Réserve" Gigondas (Elsewhere $45) (Elsewhere $45)
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "The original blended Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas is now available in two cuvées: Font des Bosquets (young vines, shorter ageing, no oak) and Réserve (older vines, 14 plots vinified separately including fruit from the top single vineyard sites, maturation in different types of oak for 18 months depending on the variety). The result is an extraordinary exercise in elegance, beautifully silky tannins and deeply vinous fruit. This is long, shapely and tapered with depth, freshness, elegance, and a seamless character. If the alcohol was...

2010 E. Guigal Hermitage
Back In Stock!
94 points Wine Spectator: "This is well-packed, with alder, anise and black tea notes leading the way for a core of juicy blackberry, plum and raspberry fruit flavors. Delivers a steeped feel through the finish, with a long charcoal thread. This is quietly always one of the smartest buys in high-end Northern Rhône reds. Best from 2016 through 2025. (JM)" (09/2015) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More brooding and backward, the 2010 Hermitage has closed down considerably since I tasted it last year. It offers lots of graphite, crushed rock, le...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The all-Marsanne 2018 Crozes Hermitage Roche Blanche comes from 70-year-old vines in Larnage, barrel-fermented and aged in 25% new oak (the other 75% goes into second-fill barrels). There's a gentle hint of caramel or honey on the nose, but the bulk of the aromas and flavors are ripe pear, melon and citrus notes. Full-bodied and creamy in texture, it turns briny and zesty on the lingering finish. I adore these wines in their opulent youth, but adventurous souls may want to put a bottle or two away for up to a dec...

2017 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Domaine de Thalabert" Crozes-Hermitage
Back In Stock!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "This terroir always delivers a wild, opulent, gamey style of wine, and the 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert doesn’t disappoint. Loads of chocolaty black fruits, ground pepper, truffle, and smoked game, as well as a hint of black olives, emerge from the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a rocking texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s a classic example of this wine and terroir." (12/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "This has a very attractive feel in 2017. Sanguine aromas of chocolate, iron and dark ber...

2012 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Domaine Roure" Crozes-Hermitage
Back In Stock!
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming from a small three-hectare plot of granite soils in the northern part of the appellation (which is the prime terroir), the blockbuster 2012 Crozes Hermitage Domaine Raymond Roure exhibits incredible minerality in its black raspberry, olive tapenade, spring flower, and subtle chocolate-laced aromatics. Tasting like it was filtered through a bed of rocks, it’s full-bodied, thrillingly concentrated and has superb underlying structure. In short, it’s a smoking Crozes Hermitage to drink anytime over the coming ...

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is no secret that I adore Chapoutier's luxury cuvee of white Hermitage called Cuvee L'Oree. Made from 90-year old vines and microscopic yields of 10-12 hectoliters per hectare, this wine flirts with perfection. It is a compelling white Hermitage. Made from 100% Marsanne, it is as rich and multidimensional as the fullest, most massive Montrachet money can buy. It is unctuously textured, yet extraordinarily and beautifully balanced. I suspect it will drink well early in life, and then shut down for a few years. ...

1999 Delas "Les Bessards" Hermitage (1.5L) (bin soiled, torn label, 3cm fill)
New!
98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was blown away by the 1999 Hermitage les Bessards, and I seriously considered adding another point or two to the score. One of the most complex, classic and multidimensional in the lineup, it offers lots of crushed rock-like minerality, smoked black fruits, spice and licorice aromas and flavors. These give way to a full-bodied, deeply concentrated, layered and perfectly balanced wine that had me wishing it was the end of the day so I could drink the whole glass. It's a gorgeous wine to enjoy anytime over the co...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Cut from the same cloth, the 2017 Hermitage Blanc is stunning stuff, and Chave lovers should unquestionably have bottles of this in the cellar. Bottled in August of this year, its medium gold hue is followed by a mammoth bouquet of quince, flower oil, buttered almonds, and brioche. Every bit as good on the palate, it’s full-bodied, has a stacked mid-palate, flawless balance, and incredible minerality as well as length on the finish. It’s insanely good today, and while this cuvée can shut down, I wonder if this ever will. My money ...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sun-drenched blackberry and cassis flavors are accented by hints of vanilla and olive tapenade in this full-bodied, voluptuous Syrah. It’s a richly extracted red matured for 12 to 16 months in a combination of new and one-year-old oak but maintains a fresh, mineral spine and lifting acidity throughout. It’s ready now but should drink well through 2028. (AI)" (05/2021) 91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from the southern part of the appellation, the 2018 Saint Joseph is a beautifully classic, elegant yet concentrated Saint Joseph...

2017 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Les Jalets" Crozes-Hermitage
New!
92 points Decanter: "From Caroline Frey, also of Bordeaux’s Château La Lagune, this has a savoury nose and a lively blackcurrant and berry palate boasting black pepper spiciness. Serious, but smooth and supple, and ever so easy to drink. (GH)" (12/2019) Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Les Jalets Bio is a charmer, with a soft, forward yet elegant style. It has plenty of Northern Rhône earthy dark fruits, pepper, and truffle, and is ideal for drinking over the coming 4-5 years." (12/2019) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made in a fruit-forward ...

95 points Decanter: "Unsurprisingly, at this early stage the oak here is easily perceived, but it's a balanced wine and the rich, concentrated fruits will harmonise in time. It's a thunderous Hermitage that makes a big statement, resonating long with a good sense of energy. It's spiced and lifted on the finish and has bold, ripe, textural tannins. This will be good. (MW)" (06/2019) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delicate streaks of violet, wild mint and charred underbrush lend nuance to lustrous crème de cassis on the palate. It's intensely ripe but pure...

2016 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Maison Bleue" Hermitage
Back In Stock!
94-95 points James Suckling: "This is a juicy and flavorful young wine with dusty and polished tannins. Lots of wild fruit and dark-berry and volcanic/salt undertones. Flavorful finish." (08/2018) 94 points Vinous: "Vivid purple. Expressive, smoke- and spice-accented dark fruit preserve, potpourri and incense scents are complemented by hints of licorice and olive paste. At once ripe and lively in the mouth, offering densely packed blackberry, blueberry and spicecake flavors that become spicier with aeration. Sneaky tannins give shape and solid grip to ...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The thickest, most unctuous, full-bodied and sexy white of the vintage is the 2014 Ermitage de l’Orée. Coming all from the sedimentary soils of the Les Murets and aged mostly in demi-muids (only 15% new), it offers a sensational perfume of caramelized peaches, campfire, honeysuckle and white flowers that literally come soaring from the glass. Possessing uncommon density, a stacked mid-palate, loads of sweet fruit and a blockbuster finish, this hedonistic effort can be drunk with incredible pleasure today, or cell...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The stunning 2018 Saint Joseph boasts fabulous floral aromas, alongside notes of cassis and blueberries. It's medium to full-bodied, silky and fine, without any suggestion of over-ripeness or jamminess. It should drink well on release and for at least a decade thereafter. (JC)" (01/2020) 93 points Vinous: "Opaque violet color. Displays powerful aromas of spice-accented dark berry and cherry preserves and incense, with a smoky nuance that builds as the wine stretches out. Fleshy and broad in the mouth but sur...

94 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Powerful, mineral-accented black and blue fruit, olive and allspice aromas are energized by a suave floral overtone. Fleshy, juicy and broad in the mouth, offering concentrated black currant, cherry liqueur, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors that tighten up with aeration. Densely packed yet energetic as well, finishing with sharp delineation, steadily building tannins and excellent persistence. (JR)" (04/2020)
Price: $64.99

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Maxime Graillot was confident that he will bottle a La Guiraude from 2018, but the selection hadn't yet been made at the time of my visit. This barrel of 2018 Crozes Hermitage shows superb aromatics, with hints of black tea accenting cassis and blueberry fruit. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it reveals some chocolaty notes yet remains remarkably fresh on the finish. (JC)" (01/2020) 93 points Vinous: "Inky ruby. Mineral- and spice-accented aromas of ripe dark berries and candied violet show outstanding clarit...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off three single-vintage whites from Hermitage, the stunning 2013 Ermitage Cuvee de L’Orée has an off-the-hook bouquet that includes just about everything you could think of when considering Hermitage Blanc. White peach, white flowers, almond paste, quince and wet rock are just some of the nuances, and it packs a serious punch on the palate, with full-bodied richness, a flamboyant, expansive texture and riveting focus and purity. Give it a year or so and drink it over the following 2-3 decades. (JD)" (12...

2012 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage Rouge
Back In Stock!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure perfection in Syrah, the 2012 Ermitage Le Pavillon comes from the pure granite soils of the Les Bessards lieu-dit and was brought up in around 30-35% new demi-muids. This blockbuster yet magical wine offers everything: incredible aromatics, huge richness and intensity, no sensation of weight or heaviness, and a finish that just goes on and on. With lots of sweet dark cassis and raspberry fruit, it has an almost Méal-like sexiness yet shows more and more minerality as well as tannins on the finish. It’s a quintessential, awes...

Bid on this bottle of 1996 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (94WS, 93WE, 92RP, 91ST). Wine Spectator: "Much more expressive on the nose than the '97--and darker and thicker--adding to the evidence that '96 is a better vintage in the northern Rhône. Delivers a round, clean, pure mouthfeel of vibrant, focused red berry and blackberry flavors. Superb balance, as it walks a tightrope among the relatively high acidity, ripe tannins and delicious fruit. Worth cellaring. (PM)" (12/1999)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (96JD, 96RP, 96WS, (94-95VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from bottle, the 2011 Hermitage sports a ruby/purple color to go with an awesome bouquet of sweet cassis, dried flowers, spice-box, ground pepper and crushed stone. One of the more serious, focused and structured 2011s, it has fabulous concentration, sweet tannin and a seamless texture. Give it 5-6 years and enjoy bottles over the following 2 decades or more. (JD) 96+" (12/2014)
Starting Bid: $825.00

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (100JD, 100RP, 98JS, 97WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 La Chapelle is sexy and opulent. I had the 1990 at the Jaboulet tasting, and again out of a double magnum three months ago. On both occasions it was spectacular, clearly meriting a three-digit score. The modern day equivalent of the 1961, it deserves all the attention it has garnered. The color remains an opaque purple, with only a slight pink at the edge. Spectacular aromatics offer up aromas of incense, smoke, blackberry fruit, cassis, barbecue spice, coffee, and a touch of chocolate. As it sits in the glass, additional nuances of pepper and grilled steak emerge. There is extraordinary freshness for such a mammoth wine in addition to abundant tannin, an amazing 60-second finish, and a level of glycerin and thick, fleshy texture that have to be tasted to be believed. (RP)" (06/2000)
Starting Bid: $365.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (91WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "From a low-yield, hot-summer vintage, this full-bodied Syrah is still very young and tough, with a plummy, ripe character, chalk, mineral and leather notes and excellent concentration. The tannins are beginning to integrate nicely, but it's still hard. Needs time. (PM)" (12/1999)
Starting Bid: $110.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (94WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "Shows a lightly firm plum skin edge, with a briary feel to the pomegranate, black cherry pepper and tobacco notes. A tangy iron edge peeks through on the finish, with the briar note hanging on as well. Nice stuffing for the vintage, though this relies more on acidity than tannins in the end. Best from 2013 through 2025. (JM)" (10/2011)
Starting Bid: $490.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (98WS, 97RP, 97VN, 95JD). Wine Spectator: "This brick house is starting to emerge, slowly. There is still a substantial cloak of cocoa powder, brick dust and tar over the core of crushed plum, black currant and steeped cherry fruit that is just now starting to give way. The finish is hefty but exceptionally well-toned, with stunning length and cut thanks to seamless tannins. A smooth block of granite. The one for your children. Best from 2015 through 2040. (JM, Web Only-2012)"
Starting Bid: $1,045.00
