The 18 hectares of vines on the Blason estate in Isonzo grow in alluvial limestone soil that is also high in iron content, hence its predominantly reddish color. The growing region is at the confluence of two climate systems, that of the foothills of the Julian Alps and the nearby Adriatic Sea. This allows for white wines of fully developed flavors and aromas, but which also retain a striking mineral edge. This Pinot Grigio is vinified with some skin contact, all in stainless steel.

Cabernet Franc from Italy? Why, yes! The Blason Cabernet Franc comes from pebbly limestone which is rich in iron oxides. This helps to create the intriguing and elegant fragrance of freshly cut grass, bell pepper, ripe raspberry, green pepper spice and liquorice. This wine is delightful and delicious.

Like so many producers in Italy's northern most regions, the Keber family's roots are not exactly (or entirely) Italian. This part of the wine world is a crossroads of sorts, where ethnic histories and languages spoken (Slovenian, Italian, German, etc.) vary considerably often between neighboring households. The Keber family migrated to Collio 350 years ago from Austria, and they've been making wine here ever since. In fact, if you ask Edi where his family is from, he'll simply say "here." The Collio region is difficult to pin down due to the sheer numbe...

Tangy and rounded, the savory palate boasts intense flavor and finesse, doling out ripe yellow pear, white peach and a hint of green melon alongside fresh acidity. (KO)" (10/2020) 91 points James Suckling: "A lovely, creamy white with pineapple and mango character, as well as crushed-stone undertones. It’s medium-bodied, fruity and delicious. " (04/2021) Vinous: "The 2019 Pinot Grigio pleases with its fruit-forward and floral bo...

Monica Larner writes: "Dario Raccaro is a boutique producer with a pure and genuine winemaking approach. He prefers stainless steel and cold stabilization for the whites. He has five hectares of vine, including the Vigna del Rolat that is often a source of Friulano rootstock. The quality of the fruit from this vineyard is immediately recognizable."

Generally a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia and Picolit fermented in stainless steel and then aged up to 1 year in used oak. Bright and aromatic, it's also an important white with a strong personality.

92 points James Suckling: "Aromas of sliced apple, green pear, lemon curd and almond cream. It’s medium-to full-bodied with crisp acidity and a creamy, flavorful and rounded finish." (02/2021) Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Grigio contrasts ripe orchard fruits and zesty green citrus with savory herbal tones to form an alluring bouquet. It’s pliant, boasting pronounced inner sweetness, yet all kept in check through vibrant acidity. Hints of vanilla and roasted almond punctuate the expression nicely. While slightly large in scale and fruit-forward, the balance ...
