2009 Blagden "Monte Rosso Vineyard" Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $80) (Elsewhere $80)
Top Pick!
A tiny 200 case production from a single block of Cabernet Sauvignon at Monte Rosso Vineyard. The block is planted to a heritage field selection "clone" of Cabernet Sauvignon thought to be unique to Monte Rosso, grafted onto 110R drought-resistent rootstock that is well suited to the intensly rocky, red volcanic soils. The wine is matured for 21 months in 50% new French oak.

2019 Ram's Gate Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (Previously $48) (Previously $48)
Top Pick!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Softly complex and beguiling in its creamy complexion, this coastal white is lovely and layered, with impressive acidity. Pear, anise and well-integrated oak highlight a lasting elegance. (VB)" (09/2021) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay sports a vivid, lighter gold hue to go with lots of pear and bright citrus fruits supported by classic salty minerality, white flowers, and hints of green almonds. It's fresh, medium-bodied, and certainly a classy, delicious Chardonnay..." (07/2021)

2012 Barde-Haut, St-Émilion
Top Pick!
93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lots of chocolate, mocha, darker fruits, and dried herb-like notes emerge from the 2012 Château Barde-Haut, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2012. It's showing a touch of maturity yet still has plenty of tannins and structure, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. I continue to think 2012 was a great vintage for the Right Bank, and this certainly doesn't change my mind." (03/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers lovely purity and mouthfeel, with notes of velvety plum, boysenberry and cherry preserves gliding easi...

2015 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Fascination" Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
Alexandre Le Brun is the smallest producer that we import (or even carry) from Champagne at just 7.5 acres. He only makes wine from half of the grapes he brings in, selling the rest off to negociants; his production totals just one thousand cases a year. This tiny scale allows Alex to do nearly everything himself and this hands-on approach shows through in the finished product. He only uses his own estate fruit for his Champagne, and this wine comes from just two rows in the grand cru of Chouilly, in a plot called La Derriere du Mont Aigu. This is electr...

2019 Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon Margaret River Western Australia (Previously $25) (Previously $25)
Top Pick!
93 points James Halliday: "Each batch destemmed and pressed forthwith to tank to settle, with one exception fermented with cultured yeast, the remainder fermented in new French oak, 2 months in oak. Complex and vibrant with citrus uppermost on the long palate." (06/2021) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A style unique to Margaret River, this SBS is both vibrant and restrained, allowing both varieties to shine. Citrusy and pungent, it shows waxy lemon, white pepper and wet wool alongside green veg notes like bell pepper and snap peas. It's really about the m...

2005 de Sarenceau, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
Château de Sarenceau is a family property and the 4th generation runs it today. This small estate of only 9 hectares allows a precise and careful work of the vines. This is the first time we have carried this property and it was our biggest buy on April 2022 trip. Rare enough to be underlined, this Saint-Emilion is a 100% Merlot! It offers an evolved nose, with notes of truffle, plum and licorice. The mouth opens with a lot of fruit and freshness, and it finishes with ripe black fruit flavors. A great wine from a great vintage. Will cellar well 10 mor...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "On the restrained side, relatively speaking, this white offers attractive aromas of tangerine, lime blossom and honeysuckle, with just a suggestion of oak. The palate harmonizes texture with refreshment, echoing the nose, but adding white spice on the lengthy finish. The oak supports, adding weight, texture and complexity. (CP)" (09/2020) 92 points Bob Campbell: "Quite a serious Sauvignon with good weight and a pleasingly rich texture. A hint of tropical fruit with melon, nectarine and nutty yeast lees flavours. Dry but not ...

2009 Verdignan, Haut-Médoc
Top Pick!
92 points James Suckling: "Classy red here with currants, blueberries and mahogany aromas. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Intense and powerful. " (07/2014) Wine Spectator: "Taut and racy, with a delicious beam of linzer torte, dried black currant and roasted fig flavors, all laced with tobacco leaf and espresso notes. The solid, racy finish shows nice length and cut. 2010 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan
Top Pick!
92-93 points James Suckling: "This is a wine that shows lots of chocolate, tobacco and currants. Full body, with velvety tannins and a long finish. All there." (04/2011) 93 points Wine Advocate: "The Haut-Bergey 2010 has a very concentrated bouquet with dense blackberry, briary, crushed stone and tobacco on the nose that unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry. There is a lot of extraction here, but it is in tune with the acidity and the structured finish has plenty of vibrant red fruit and energy to see it thr...

Fallet-Dart "Clos du Mont" Brut Champagne (2006)
Top Pick!
This single-walled vineyard is the top of the line from Fallet-Dart. Although not labeled as a vintage, it is 100% 2006 and composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir that is barrel fermented. It is aged for over 12 years on the lees before release. The word "tirage" in French, which appears on the back label, means "bottling", and this all 2006 champagne was bottled in fall of 2007 and has spent an incredible 12 plus years on the lees. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Family owned for over 150 years, Bel-Air Lagrave is a highly respected Bordeaux estate in Moulis. Classic in style, and emphasizing elegance and purity of fruit, this predominately Cabernet wine (with a good portion of Merlot and a bit of Petit Verdot), generally spends nearly 20 months in oak, some neutral and anywhere from 35 - 50% new depending on the nature of the vintage.

92-95 points Burghound: "Note: 20% whole clusters. Moderate wood and menthol nuances serve as a less than neutral backdrop for the gamy, spicy and very ripe aromas of dark pinot fruit liqueur-like aromas. There is fine volume and outstanding intensity to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that possess flat out superb concentration thanks to the abundance of palate drenching sap that also serves to buffer the firm core of ripe tannins on the hugely long and wonderfully complex finish. While the underlying raw material is certainly present such that this ...

This wine was made by Eric Fournier of Chateau Canon fame. A nice combination of New World elements (rich currant and blackberry fruit and nice ripeness) along with balancing elements of cigar box and pepper. Moderate amounts of tannin, and a very low price, make it a great introduction to the wines of Bordeaux.

2019 Hubert de Boüard Chardonnay Vin de Pays de l'Atlantique
Top Pick!
90-92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Le Chardonnay has achingly delicate scents of honey-drizzled white peaches, spiced apples and Bosc pears with wafts of marzipan and pie crust. The medium-bodied palate delivers loads of finely knit apple and stone fruit flavors with a silken texture and bags of freshness, finishing long and spicy. Since Chardonnay is not one of the Bordeaux AC's permitted grapes, this wine uses the relatively new Vin de Pays de l'Atlantique designation. But don't let the declassified designation fool you—this is serious Chardonnay an...

It’s denser and fleshier than its counterpart, the 2016 Pur Avize. 93+ (YC)" (11/2023) K&L Notes: The "Pur Oger" from champange Franck Boniville is all from the grand cru of the same name, and made from two of the best sites in th...

Conscious Wines is a tiny passion project from Adam Edelman focused entirely on single vineyard Chardonnays from top sites on the California coast. Adam's day job is working as the enologist for a very famous cult Napa winery. Adam also worked stints under iconic winemaker Julien Fayard at his boutique customs crush facility and at Covert Estate in Coombsville. If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger and Krug in the past, we think you will very much enjoy Michel Arnould. They are bold, masculine Champagnes with plenty of toasty flavor. This is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, entirely from estate vineyards in the Grand Cru of Verzenay. Verzenay is the northernmost of all the Grand Crus in this northernmost of French wine regions. The whole village faces north—the wrong way, away from the sun—and yet miraculously ripens Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Some say it's because of a meteor that,...

2019 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Revelation" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This Champagne comes from a very special plot in Monthelon, just behind the Le Brun house on a southeast facing slope. It is entirely Meunier, half of which was planted in 1952 and the other half in 1902; the oldest living vines that I have seen in Champagne. The village of Monthelon is in the Côteaux de Sud Épernay, one of the coldest microclimates in Champagne, and that cold climate, in tandem with these ancient vines, has given us a truly epic wine. Alex’s craft has added to this — he uses a combination of small oak and large foudres for this wine alo...

Sourced exclusively from massal-selected vines of over 40 years on the Lapie estate, this is a blend of 1/3 each Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir. It has a white gold color and some lovely flinty smoke on the fresh baguette nose. In the mouth it shows off the great linear, fresh character of the 2013 harvest in Champagne, and has a very fine bead of bubbles. The finish is super long and full of great minerality. Unfortunately, the USA was only allocated five cases! -Gary Westby

Wine Advocate: "A decent effort in this tough vintage for some of the Médoc wines, Lanessan’s 2012 has some nice suppleness to the tannin, cranberry and black cherry fruit, plum and blackcurrants. It is medium-bodied with earth, herbs and spice. Drink it over the next decade. (RP)" (04/2015) K&L Notes: * A very fruity and tasty style. Another great value from what Robert Parker calls a "consistent property that turns out wines that are often very close to classified-growth quality."

2014 Rocca Family "Tesorina - Grigsby Vineyard" Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $140) (Elsewhere $140)

96 points Wine Advocate: "Their most expensive wine is the 2014 Tesorina, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is literally black/blue in color to the rim, and offers glorious blueberry and black raspberry fruit notes along with some incense, licorice and graphite. Stunningly rich, full-bodied and opulent, with no hard edges, it is a quintessential 2014 thanks to its irresistible charm and lushness. This is concentrated juice and no wimpy wine at 15.1% natural alcohol. Look for this wine to drink well young, yet gain complexity and nuance over the...

Top Pick!
96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Even better than the 2009, the 2010 Château Barde-Haut offers the same sexy, extroverted style yet has slightly more density and depth. Blackcurrants, plums, graphite, and loads of chocolate notes jump from the glass, and it put its foot firmly on the ripeness pedal with its full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannins, moderate acidity, and a rockstar of a finish. It's one of the most massive, opulent wines in the lineup and will continue to evolve gracefully for another two decades or more." (03/2020) 94 points The Wine Indep...

Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth-generation winemaker. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the powerful 2015 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced for the red wine in this blend was planted in 1902. It is rich, but classically dry, with dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the lingering finish.
