91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pretty and relatively airy nose offers up notes of spicy anise-suffused tea, plum, dark cherry and a hint of raspberry. Like a number of wines in the range, the texture of the larger-scaled flavors is beguiling before culminating in a muscular and powerful if slightly raspy but not drying finish. This too is going to need extended cellaring as it's presently quite tightly wound." (04/2020) K&L Notes: 93-96 points Jasper Morris for Inside Burgundy: "Lovely clear even purple colour. There is a sensual class to t...

94 points Decanter: "A bold and spicy nose full of black pepper, black cherries and clove which combine to give a soft savoury and fruity expression. Such vivacity and life force on the palate, the wine just jumps out of the glass, mouthfilling but with a lightness of touch and soft chalky tannins. Touch of oak gives structure and elegance to the bright cherry and raspberry fruit. From a 1.4 hectare clay-limestone plot, 50% parcel was planted in 1979, the other half in 1987. The wine is aged on the lees for 16-18 months, of which 12 months are spent in o...

2019 Domaine Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "A truly amazing Corton, thanks to the laser beam of sour-cherry aroma that shoots right through this sleek and vibrant wine. Great concentration, but remains light on its feet. The mineral finish extends and extends as you struggle to take it all in. Still very young with enormous aging potential. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley opens in the glass with notes of cassis, wild berries, warm spices, orange rind, rose petals, espresso roast ...

94-96 points Vinous: "The 2019 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is deeper in color compared with the Les Maréchaudes. The well-defined bouquet features cranberry and wild strawberry scents intermixed with wilted rose petal and sous-bois, delicate yet paradoxically intense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and fleshier than the Maréchaudes; the stem addition here seems more enmeshed. Just beautiful. (NM)" (10/2020) 94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A wonderfully spicy nose also features plenty of floral influence to the liqueur-like aroma...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A very pretty nose offers up airy but ripe aromas of earth and spice-inflected red berries, especially wild cherry. The sleek, intense and well-detailed large scaled flavors possess evident minerality and muscle while delivering excellent focus and length on the powerful finale. This firmly structured and youthfully austere effort has everything it needs to reward up to two decades of development potential." (01/2021) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2019 Corton Grand Cru comes mainly from Rognets and was completely d...

96 points James Suckling: "Wow. This is a solid Corton with ripe strawberries, plums, bark and porcini. Full-bodied with tight, fine tannins, focused depth of fruit and excellent length. Quite muscular for the vintage." (08/2020) 93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood and menthol influences frame the intensely earthy and gamy aromas of both red and dark currant. There is excellent energy to the stony medium weight plus flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful where the latter carries over to the serious, firmly structured and mil...

96 points Wine Spectator: "Fragrant with violet, black cherry, black currant, licorice, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this red is both powerful and restrained, with a supple texture and solid structure that are beautifully aligned, while the aftertaste lingers with echoes of dark fruit, mineral and spice. Best from 2024 through 2042. —B.S." (10/2021) 93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly floral nose reflects notes of rose petal, lavender, acacia and violet along with nuances of red and black fruit, earth and a whiff of forest floor. ...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is a whiff of herbal tea sitting atop the cool essence of various wild red berries and newly turned earth scents. There is first-rate richness and volume to the big-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that also conclude in an overtly austere finish that offers dramatically good persistence. This too is quite firmly structured and like any Corton worthy of the name, it's built for extended cellaring." (01/2021) K&L Notes: 93-95 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Grown on Oxfordian limestone with...

1995 Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru "Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley" (nicked capsule, signs of seepage)
New!
91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Still excellent color. Here the nose has gone full-on secondary with darker fruit notes that include plum and currant spiked with leather, warm earth, humus and smoked meat. There is both good energy and detail to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a relatively supple mid-palate that contrasts with the firm '95 style tannins that emerge on the robust and rustic but not tough finish. This is at once very Corton and very '95 that offers fine depth and persistence. With that said, there is no reason to delay drin...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Elegant, pure and airy aromas are comprised by spiced red cherry, plum and hints of warm earth, smoked game and pretty spice wisps. The nicely intense medium-bodied flavors are shaped by polished tannins and excellent verve while displaying good focus on the dusty, muscular, more structured and focused finish where the only reproach is a mild touch of warmth. As is usually the case, there is just a bit more overall depth here compared to its two Corton stablemates." (01/2021) 94 points Decanter: "in the lieu-dit...

95 points Decanter: "Made with fruit purchased from a 0.32ha parcel planted in 1956, below Le Corton. 40% whole clusters and 60% new casks give a deeply aromatic wine, with abundant aromas of ripe blackberry, menthol, mineral and violets. On the palate, the texture is silky and very fine, yet there is a core of very firm tannins and great length. This has everything one wants in a Corton, from abundant fruit to firm structure and an immense finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. (CC)" (10/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overly floral no...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1985 Maison Roche de Bellene "Collection Bellenum" Corton-Renardes Grand Cru. A superbly aged example of Corton grand cru from well-known vigneron Nicolas Potel's newest project. After selling his domaine holdings to focus on his more thriving négociant business, Potel recognized yet another opportunity to fill an unsatisfied market niche—pristine, library vintage Burgundy. The Collection Bellenum line scours the cellars of Potel's Burgundy colleagues and neighbors for well-aged wines that have remained unsold yet securely stored for decades. Potel takes hold of the stock, relabels it, and offers it as part of his own line-up. While the sources of the wines are strictly confidential, we can say without a doubt that Potel has access to many of the finest domaine cellars in the Côte d'Or, and his standards for quality have always been rigorous. So, the wine in bottle is sure to be first rate.

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2016 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru ((93-95BH), (94-95JS), (92-95VN)). Vinous: "Moderately saturated dark red. Sexy if slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, tarte au prune and game, with some new oak showing. Very rich, dense and pliant, conveying a distinctly relaxed quality for the vintage. This plump, large-scaled grand cru finishes with superb restrained sweetness, noteworthy finesse of tannins, and serious building length, with its lightly saline black raspberry fruit complemented by an almost chocolatey ripeness. An extremely promising vintage for this wine. (ST)" (01/2018)
Starting Bid: $200.00

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru comprises just one barrel this year. It has a very well-defined bouquet of ebullient red berry fruit laced with sous-bois and truffle aromas. The palate is very harmonious and elegant, delivering supple tannins and impressive weight toward the finish of pure raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, plus a tang of white pepper on the aftertaste. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Hospices de Beaune (Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey) Corton Grand Cru "Cuvée Docteur Peste" . From the prestigious Hospices de Beaune holdings, a cuvée named after Dr. Jean-Louis Peste who practiced medicine for more than 30 years at the estate medical facility during the 19th century. About the cuvée from the domaine: "With 90% from very old vines or vines planted before 1985, this cuvée is made up of 43% of parcels of Chaumes and Voierosses facing south-south-west. Their vines were planted on four separate occasions between 1976 and 1985. The parcels of Les Bressandes, with the oldest vines dating from 1940, Les Fiètres and Les Grèves bring the final balance to this cuvée."

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru ((93-95BH), 92ST, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Reduction blocks the nose but there is excellent verve to the intense, pure, robust and beautifully well-detailed flavors that are underpinned by moderately rustic tannins, all wrapped in a reserved, structured, powerful and impressively persistent finish. This is a big wine and should be capable of a long life. *Sweet Spot*" (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $105.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Rapet Corton Grand Cru (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a bit of wood spice here as well with riper and more deeply pitched black fruit and floral notes leading to rich, full, robust and well-muscled flavors that coat the mouth with very firm tannins that are not aggressive but it's clear that this will not be a precocious '05." (04/2007)
Starting Bid: $88.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Corton Grand Cru "Clos Rognet" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Remarkably open and approachable for young Corton with very ripe sweet fruit notes of cherry and blackberry and authoritative, tautly muscular flavors underpinned by buried tannins that are revealed only on the long, intense, concentrated finish. The finishing complexity is outstanding and the firm tannins suggest that this should enjoy a long life." (01/2004)
