The wine offers plenty of tasty fruit flavours, wonderfully supported by smooth texture and juicy acidity. " (01/2018)

This wine goes through a short maceration on the skins and then 6 months in stainless steel with frequent batonage. Grown on iron rich limestone soil where you really have to like stones because the vineyards are full of them! This is the western bank of the Isonzo River not far from the beautiful city of Gradisca, which is right on the Slovenian border.

The 18 hectares of vines on the Blason estate in Isonzo grow in alluvial limestone soil that is also high in iron content, hence its predominantly reddish color. The growing region is at the confluence of two climate systems, that of the foothills of the Julian Alps and the nearby Adriatic Sea. This allows for white wines of fully developed flavors and aromas, but which also retain a striking mineral edge. This Pinot Grigio is vinified with some skin contact, all in stainless steel.

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of Alpine herb, white spring flower and ripe orchard fruit mingle together in the glass. Tangy and rounded, the savory palate boasts intense flavor and finesse, doling out ripe yellow pear, white peach and a hint of green melon alongside fresh acidity. (KO)" (10/2020) 91 points James Suckling: "A lovely, creamy white with pineapple and mango character, as well as crushed-stone undertones. It’s medium-bodied, fruity and delicious. " (04/2021) Vinous: "The 2019 Pinot Grigio pleases with its fruit-forward and floral bo...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Tradition is another fantastic value wine that matches the simple versatility of the grape with the cool and crisp personality of the Italian Dolomites. The wine pours from the bottle with pretty luminosity, and the bouquet presents classic aromas of pear, melon, apple and almond. There's a fun touch of saffron, dried mint and crushed oyster shell that adds an extra layer of dimension and depth. (ML)" (09/2020)

Wine Enthusiast: "This savory white opens with aromas of peach blossom and ripe white stone fruit. The medium-bodied palate doles out creamy pear, honeydew melon and tangy acidity. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Eyrie was the first to plant Pinot Gris in America, long before it became Oregon’s most famous white grape. No surprise that five decades later it’s Eyrie that makes the state’s most distinctive, elegant version of the grape. Beautifully textured mixed tree fruits - apple and white peach - are on display here, along with details of freshly baked bread and light herbs such as parsley. A touch of melon comes up in the back palate, and the wine just keeps chugging along through a marvelous finish. *Editors’ Choice* (PG)" (0...

91 points James Suckling: "Very fragrant pinot grigio with sliced cooked-pear and some pear-blossom aromas. Pear Williams. It’s full-bodied, fruity and delicious. A little obvious, but very attractive all the same." (08/2020) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Peter Zemmer 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio offers a light and buoyant quality with extra lift from citrus, white peach, grapefruit and crushed mineral. Closed in a screw cap bottle, this is a pretty and modestly fragrant wine that refreshes the palate, thanks to its acidity and that simple presen...

91 points Wine Spectator: "Notes of tobacco and thyme frame the core of apple and citrus flavors in this rather nuanced Pinot Gris. Features vibrant acidity that makes this stylish and energetic, while white tea detail adds to the charm on the savory finish. (AZ, Web Only-2019)"

95-97 points Vinous: "Medium straw-gold color. Pure, highly aromatic nose combines orange zest, smoke and white truffle, with complicating notes of lemony, marmaladey botrytis. The strong botrytis character is obvious on the palate too, which offers an uncanny combination of volume and vivacity, with suave flavors of strawberry, ripe peach and pear nectar. Piercing acidity provides outstanding clarity and cut on the very long finish. A wine of mesmerizing complexity and impeccable balance, though not the richest or most powerful Clos Saint-Urbain ever (f...

95 points Sam Kim: "Elegant and pristine, the wine shows white flesh peach, fresh pear, lemon zest and white floral aromas on the nose, leading to a vibrant palate that's finely expressed with youthful charm and lively mouthfeel. Gorgeously poised and lingering to a lengthy crisp finish. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2028." (12/2020) 92 points Bob Campbell: "Delicately aromatic pinot gris with crisp pear, apple and subtle honeysuckle flavours. Dry but not austere, with a mouth-watering line of acidity that promotes a lengthy finish. A bright, ...

98 points James Suckling: " A giant Alsace pinot gris that’s brimming with smoke, caramelized-pear, cooked-quince and mushroom aromas. Very deep and ripe, but with spot-on harmony, the hint of grape sweetness beautifully woven into its rich and very complex texture. Astonishing finish that’s creamy and salty, smoky and stony all at once. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold." (11/2020) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Smoky stoniness initially fills the nose on this wine. With a little more air, pear fruitiness comes though while a flinty glint o...

Kabaj (Ka-bye) have farmed their vineyards for many generations. When Katja Kabaj met French oenologist Jean-Michel Morel after his stint at an Italian winery, they fell in love and eventually married. Jean-Michel brought some of those Italian and French sensibilities to the winery along with his fondness for working with amphorae. Those who have tasted Kabaj whites know that these wines range from light to full skin contact for the whites. And that the "Beli" Pinot Blanc is truly intriguing. It's aged for 10 days on the skins and then for about a year i...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "With dynamic and complex expressions like this, it's a wonder why people started stripping the naturally pink hue that Pinot Gris provides. The pinkish orange wine delivers aromas of strawberry sorbet and rosebuds and then opens onto a palate of light raspberry and watermelon. There is ample tannic tension as well. *Editors' Choice* (MK)" (12/2019) K&L Notes: Pinot Gris sourced from the beautiful Eden Rift vineyard in Cienega Valley. Grown in a mix of decomposed granite and limestone soil, this aromatic variety excels here....

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The straw-yellow 2018 Pinot Gris Trocken opens with a clear and fine yet intense and well-concentrated, elegant nose with ripe and healthy white fruit and some greenish gooseberry and leafy aromas. Elegant and fresh on the palate, this is a charming and refreshingly fruity Pinot Gris with elegant acidity and good freshness. It's not very long or complex, though, just a nice and pleasant wine. Tasted in March 2020. (SR)" (04/2020)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " The 2019 Pinot Gris is bright and yeasty on the nose with notes of candied citrus and baked apples. The light-bodied palate is broad and flavorful with good uplift from its bright acidity and mineral tones. (EB)" (12/2020)

Wine Enthusiast: " The closed nose on this wine reveals only the slightest hint of pear peel. Next the palate comes in with textured, pleasant pithiness and slight bitterness that works well within the full-fruited pear generosity. The finish is dry and fresh. (AK)" (10/2020)

Winery notes: The west-facing knoll of our Pinot Gris site allows the vines to grow in brilliant sunlight and thinner soils. The open vine canopy results in smaller clusters and thicker skins, creating a full spectrum of flavors and aromatic development. We make the utmost use of this intense phenolic character by exposing grape must to the skins during a gentle, three-day cold soak, prior to fermentation. The 2019 Aurosa showcases a charming, light golden rose color and unique hibiscus tea and rose hip tones. Slight wisps of lavender, violets, and tea r...

95 points James Suckling: " With great yellow fruit, ranging from ripe peach to super ripe mango, this dry pinot gris manages to stay just the right side of opulence, thanks to its vibrant acidity, giving it almost riesling-like elegance, linearity and minerality at the driving finish, which is truly remarkable for this grape. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold." (11/2020) 95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Gris Rotenberg is bright and taut in the glass, with striking dimension and tons of complexity.
